Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

Lakestedpuck.
Here's the break down for next year. 11 Recruits coming in. 5 - D , 4 - F and 2 - Goalies.

Discussion among the hockey alumni last weekend was that we have 13 incoming next year. I don't have any details other than that was the number quoted.

I didn't hear about the other 2 recruits yet? My guess would be Forwards. I still think there will be no cuts to the Forwards because my guess there will be 1 to 3 of them leaving on there own to get more ice time at D-3.

Does any one know of a recruiting link where you can see who's been taken school by school for the Freshmen class of 2011/2012 ? I know Coach Oz has some very talented forwards and Defense coming in. He has a few of the world JR players coming in that he just Coached. I did look at the USHL web-site and noticed some players coming from there. GO BUCKS GO.

Perhaps they're not all signed yet? I believe we have another signing period beginning April 13th.

Seniors Leaving. 3 - D , 5 - F and 1 - Goalie.
Roster Cuts ? D - 5 in 3 out = 2 cut. F - 4 in 5 out = 0 cut. Goalies - 2 in Dustin Carlson out , leaves Heeter and Michaels. 1 Goalie cut.

With the season that Heeter is having it would not surprise me if he signs a pro contract after this year, which would leave Michael + the two new goalies and no cuts there. As for defense, we only have 7 currently and of those, only 6 play regularly. Typical roster carries 8 or 9 D, so it is not necessarily the case that any will be cut, though it is certainly possible that one will be trimmed once the new kids hit town. Forwards could see some current guys move on to other college teams for more playing time or a better fit; I would not expect to see any early defections to the pros from the current crop, at least not until after the 2011-2012 season. Next year will certainly be interesting, with only 3-4 seniors, a handful of juniors, and a bunch of youngsters. If there truly are 13 coming in next year, that will certainly shake things up...

This link will show you commitments by school. It is run by Chris Heisenberg, and is extremely accurate on who has committed, although not always correct on which year they are committed for. Max McCormick is listed as a 2011 for tOSU, but I know his commitment is for 2011 or 2012 depending on development. Not sure if there are others on that list that may be that way that Heisenberg does not have noted.

Badger fans have been debating Oz's potential "overrecruitment" at tOSU for a while now and are interested to see how it all shakes out.

As the weeks get closer to the end the points become more and more important. A great weekend and they could be in 5th place a terrible weekend and they could be in 8th place this conference is so close in the middle. I really cant see a sweep either way here, i believe western is the only team to go up there and win on Friday.

So, if you finish 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 or 8, your first CCHA playoff games will be at home. 5th, 9th, 10th and 11th will be on road.

Bucks lose in OT. Neither team could score on the power-play in regulation. Then the Bucks take a penalty in OT and the Eskimos seal the deal with a power-play goal. It should be another dog fight tonight. GO BUCKS GO.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

So Schneider got the hooking call 11 seconds into overtime, what the hell was he thinking? Since I didn't see or listen to the game can anyone tell me what kind of call it was? Like did he have to to stop a breakaway scoring chance, a weak questionable call by the refs or was he just being plain stupid? Hopefully for him it wasn't the last option, I don't think it would be very pleasant to be in Oz's doghouse.

I missed the call. All I know is that if a Ref is going to call a penalty in OT it's usually someting stupid by the player. Most Refs don't want to be put in that situation in OT. They want the game to end 5 on 5. I hate to see the Bucks lose a hard fought game like that due to a penalty in OT. It's just the luck of the Eskimos that there power-play unit come alive in OT!!!!

It happened right off the face off Alaska won the draw and went right up the middle into the Bucks zone schneider hooked him good. The Goal was a lucky bounce. Tough game to lose both teams played good defense and both goalies made key saves through out the game. Greenham robbed Szczechura on a point blank chance late in the first period. Cal didnt have that make spectular saves but he was really steady.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

If we can get the split it will mitigate some of the damage but the guys must be gut kicked to have played so hard all game long and have it go down the tubes so quick at the end.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

Boy what a terrible game tonight. If you looked at the shots they were even but thats all that was even. the turning point of the game came with the score 3-1 in the 2nd, ohio state got a 5-3 for a 1:29 after a 5:00 major given to the nooks. Well about 30 seconds or so into it Albert gets called for playing with a broken stick( he took 2 or 3 strides with it). So that not only took away the 5-3 advantage but later on after the nanooks got back the first penalty, CJ takes a really stupid penalty that give them a PP and takes up all but 51 seconds of the major penalty. So instead of getting back in the game possibly with the long 5-3 they take 2 penalties that could have been avoided and the rest of the period alaska just took it to them and scored 2 more to make it 5-1 in turn was the end of the night for Cal.

Now can they use this lost weekend and motivate them coming home to face the spartans or is this going to be a markell moment for this team and they go into the tank? Personally i dont see OZ letting them go into the tank and feel sorry for themselves.
