I was there tonight. It was a very enjoyable game. It was nice to see us scoring goals again. It would have been a big disappointment to get swept on our home ice by the 10th place team in the league. OTOH, would have been nice if we had come to play last night and got the six points this weekend. At this point, I think 4th place and home ice is a stretch, but we are certainly right there to make a push for that 5th spot. The only downside tonight was a couple of stupid, undisciplined penalties in the third period (too many men on the ice, roughing), but thankfully, our PK was solid tonight. Win or lose, this team continues to play hard and battle, and that's certainly a step in the right direction from previous seasons.

FRI OSU looked about as bad as I've seen them all season and it carried a little into Saturday. MSU first goal could kind of be described as an EN with the goalie in the crease, it looked that bad. Still they pulled it together, scored 4 "garbage goals" and got the points.

The Bucks earned the WIN. It's crazy how teams can play cold one night and then the next night turn hot , or in Michigans case the other way around. It's hard to understand but it happens from the youth levels to the pro levels.
I thought the Bucks crashed the net way better in tonights game. If Michigan had any kind of power-play going with the penalties we were taking , we would of lost this game.

JOKE = Maybe we should have Teddy Bear toss night at every home game. The Bucks were hungry to get that first goal on Saturdays game. Eh. LOL.

We need to make sure we take our 'A' game up to Michigan. They just got swept by Miami this past weekend, knocking them down to third place in the standings, so they'll come out with fire in their eyes. I'll be happy if we can get a split up there.

I hear ya. I would be happy to get a split on the road any time. GO BUCKS GO. Both games are going to be on the Big Ten Network TV. Thumbs Up. Eh.

Ironically, we will be in Michigan Saturday but will be at a different game. Actually we will miss both games because we are going to the OSU women's game against UMD Friday night. We'll have to catch scores on the tv's in the lobby Friday night. Saturday night we are heading to suburban Detroit to see a HS game. I have a little cousin who is playing varsity as a sophomore for his HS team. He is a defenseman. I'll have to tell his Dad he would look really nice in Scarlet & Gray (haha). I've never seen him play in person but my family up there tells me he is really good. He must be pretty good to be playing varsity hockey as a sophomore. We're really looking forward to our road trip! It'll give us a chance to play with our new toy (gps that we just got for Christmas)! LET'S GO BUCKS! BEAT MICHIGAN!

Been in Michigan many times for an OSU win but I've never seen a sweep for us there. It's doable but Yost is a hard place to win, allways a sellout, rowdy and organized Michigan fans who are always vocal and doing their best to give their team momentum. I've played at Yost and what I hate most about it is the glass. It's not plexiglass, it's thick and feels like the glass they used to use in bank windows. You can throw your whole weight against it and not even a quiver and I'm surprised that there are no standards on rink glass for safety purposes, if you don't keep your head up at all times and get checked into this stuff hard it's very easy to get a concussion or separated shoulder. The Schott and all other venues I've been at have very flexible plexiglass which gives quite a bit to minimize injuries.

Hockeybuckeye, thanks for your input on that. I've never seen us sweep them there, either, and in fact, I don't think too many visiting teams go into Yost and get a sweep. As for the glass along the boards, you would think there would be some rules in place about that. Sounds dangerous if there is no flexibility there. I can attest to the flexibility of the glass at the Schott. I spent a good portion of Saturday's game banging on that glass (LOL)! I ordered our tickets for that game last fall and was fortunate enough to have seats along the boards in section 107. It was great! I really like the new style that Coach Oz has brought here. The kids seem to be buying in, too. Can't wait to see where we are at after he brings in another recruiting class or two.

The BUCKS will find out what there made of this weekend. Michigan will want to return the favor and sweep us at there barn. Both games on regular TV , Big Ten network. GO BUCKS GO.

Tough one tonight, but I like the fight in our team. We had chances to score at the end and didn't quit. Maybe we can come out tomorrow night and get a split. A split at Yost when they are coming off a sweep at the hands of Miami wouldn't be a bad thing. We're still within striking distance of a bye in the first round and I think this team is certainly capable of knocking off whoever finishes fourth on their ice in that second round to advance to the Joe.

Friday Night Game.

I thought the Bucks owned the first period as they controled the pace. Again they couldn't put the puck in the net. The second and third period was all Michigan. It was a FUN game to watch win or lose. GO BUCKS GO.

6 on 5 and all they did in the last 20 seconds was endlessly cycle the puck. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? We had 3 guys on the doorstep to put in any rebound but NOBODY TOOK THE SHOT! Obviously looking for the "perfect" shot but throwing the puck in on net and having numbers at the crease is a high percentage play.

Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up. Yea, no way but up to Alaska, Northern or Lake for first round of playoffs. Need a sweep and split in the last two series any hope for home ice first round. Clunker of a WE in AA.

Not to mention UM had better scoring opportunities in the 5 minute advantage for OSU

The only difference I can see between this year and last year is when we lose it's only by a goal or two. Last year we lost some games by a 4 to 5 goal margin. Where we are in the CCHA standings is about the same. New Coach and team working harder for the wins and were not going any where???

I'm not totally sold on Coach OZ yet. I hear he's got a mean streak in him and when I see him on tv behind the bench he looks like he has a bleeding ulcer. He looks very unhappy and doesn't make much eye contact with the camera.
This is his first year , so I guess the jury and judge are still out on him. Next year should be very interesting. GO BUCKS GO.

I don't think we hired Oz to win a beauty contest, I classify it as intense looking. During the times I've spoken with him he's been very nice. We came into the season realistically not expecting a lot this season and when it seemed after winning over Christmas break things started coming together we became very excited and hopeful. However, back to reality, games get tougher coming down the stretch towards playoffs and we are forced to remember that it is the first year of his tenure and it will take longer than one or two seasons to get this program humming. We still have a number of players taking really stupid penalties at the absolutely wrong time that have cost us games this season and I don't see any way Oz can be blamed for that. For you youngsters in need of an OSU history lesson a lot of people weren't happy or sold on Woody as his first 3 seasons were mediocre but his 4th - National Champions. So I advocate patience as there are a lot of different things that have to happen to establish a strong and successful program and we are still in the early stages of it.

Coach needs to bench the players taking the stupid penalties. The players are not going to change until Coach makes them change by sitting them a period or a game.
