Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

Re: Schafer

Re: Schafer

Good Win tonight for the bucks. Thats 4 of 5 for them and army tomorrow with a chance to win this tourney. Maybe they are hitting a stride that carries them in the rest of season.

Re: Schafer

It's a WIN 3 to 1.

What a game. Vermont controlled most of the 1st period , after that it was all Buckeyes in the 2nd and 3rd. The Bucks turned it around when CJ severyn got kicked out of the game for head contact. The Bucks killed off the 5 Min major. It was good to see the Bucks score on both of there 5 0n 3 power plays.
Both Goalies played a good game. Vermonts goalie made a nice glove safe and a awesome toe save. Heeter did his job in the net with some nice saves of his own.

Team WIN for the Bucks. Onto the Army. " HAPPY NEW YEAR. " Eh.

Not trying to confuse things. Oz was in Buffalo. The win in Burlington will still go on his official record as the head coach.

To be totally correct he is 1-0 as a head coach for the week and 4-0 as an assistant coach for the week.

Would like to know more about the 5 minute major called on Severyn last night. Here's a bit from the Burlington Free Press about the call and Rohlik's reaction to it.

No immediate call had been made, causing Rohlik to question why the major was eventually assessed. “After discussion, they ended up with a 5-minute major. I asked a question, how did you come up with a 5-minute major when there was no call whatsoever to start, and they told me they discussed it and said it was a blow to the head.

“I can agree to disagree but they make the call and we’ve got to go on and kill the penalty and that’s what happened.”

Lets hope he can be 2-0 as a Head Coach and 6-0 as an assistant by the end of Tuesday.

5-1 after 2. Boyd 2 goals 1 assist, Dries 1 goal 1 assist, Cj and Albert also with goals. This may be the start of something here.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

5-3 Final. Looks like Army took it to them in the 3rd out shooting ohio state 10-4 and scoring 2. A great weekend for the guys 2 wins and now 4 straight overall. Back to conference next week and the Hated Hawks coming to town.

WIN. Army was shooting gernades in the 3rd period. It was nice to have a lead. Did anyone see the goal that was a goal but the refs watched the replay and said NO goal. The broadcast guys showed the replay in slow motion and the puck went in the lower right corner and came back out. Oh well , the Refs missed that one on replay. In the long run it didn't matter. " GO BUCKS. "

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

interesting interview with OSU president Gordon Gee in the Dipsatch .

Thought this part was of particular interest.....

Q: Why has Ohio State tried to help the Columbus Blue Jackets by entering into a contract to jointly manage the Schottenstein Center and Nationwide Arena? How is the school benefiting from the deal?

A: We are no longer bidding against one another. That's No. 1. The cost savings can be immense. The second thing is the fact that the university can now start using (Nationwide) Arena more as part of its own efforts. We have a great men's and women's hockey program. I'd like to see more of our opportunities to play hockey Downtown to expose our teams a little bit more. ... Then, this co-managed effort creates a lot of operational efficiencies.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

This would be a good deal for the Bucks because no more games in the old rink on campus. The current Womens arena.

Re: Ohio State 2010/2011 - No way but up.

Here's a novel idea ... why don't they build a hockey-only facility on campus like they should have done in the first place? I think it's great that our hockey teams might have the opportunity to play some games at Nationwide Arena, but I think an on-campus, hockey-only facility would be the best option, JMHO.

I agree with this its long overdue. A 5 or 6K building would be full or near full almost every night and you wouldnt have to travel by bus with your gear on from the ice rink to the Schott all the time.
