Got FIFA '12 for Xbox 360 as a Christmas gift from my brother. Does anyone know if you can play two player co-op vs. CPU in this game? We haven't been able to find any option for it. If not, that really sucks

Although the current games don't hold any comparison to DDR back in the day :p

Picked up Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for $44.99 at Newegg.com, along with free 3-day shipping. I don't need it on the 7th, so I'll take the $15 in savings.

Not quite the same as owning the cabinet version, but still pretty badass... I can only imagine how many quarters I put into that game over the years... Hell, I still play it when friends and I end up going to a certain bowling alley around here...

Played a bit of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Fun so far, but I could do without the GoW quicktime button mashing events. I've noticed the game takes bits and pieces from a lot of different places.

QT Events - God of War
Diving in Water for items - Fable
Armor/Weapon Repair - Elder Scrolls
3 Class Skill Trees - Various MMOs

I love that part. Real combat fighting in an RPG? That's a first.

I would have liked a fourth class tree. You can do some fun things though with the destiny system like Building a Cleric that swings a Big Hammer.

So anyone do Be A Pro in NHL 12?

I scored on my first shift and first shot to get the Legends Milestone...and it didn't unlock. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Mass Effect 3 demo comes out tomorrow. Full game hits shelves March 6th...cannot wait.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Picking up my first Vita game tonight (Katamari). Odd release date scheduling considering the system isn't out till tomorrow.

I think I am going to get Uncharted: Golden Abyss as well.

Mass Effect 3 demo comes out tomorrow. Full game hits shelves March 6th...cannot wait.

Played the demo - 2 unrelated levels and accompanying cinematics. First one sets the mood for the game pretty freaking thoroughly, though.

The multiplayer part of the demo doesn't unlock til the weekend unless you got the early access key from BF3.

Gameplay is somewhat improved, ability to climb ladders and roll sideways, more RPG elements are back after being taken out of ME2 (branching skill trees at higher levels, more armor/weapon upgrades), and it plays like an upgraded ME2. Graphics are similar to before, probably upgraded somewhat.

Some interesting customization settings are possible. In addition to the easy, normal, hardcore, and insanity difficulty levels, there's also "Story mode" - where the fights are insanely easy so you can focus solely on the story. Also can turn the game to arcade mode, where you don't get to customize your character or pick how you interact and focus strictly on the shooter part of the game. (and of course, there's the traditional ME experience option, where you get both). Normal difficulty definitely felt somewhat harder than normal on ME2 - they weren't lying when they said it was about on par with Veteran mode from the earlier games.

3 weeks to go...

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

My PSVita is scheduled to arrive today! I am impressed that Best Buy actually shipped overnight for release day delivery. +1 for them.

I will give my review of the system and the 3 games (Little Deviants, Uncharted, Katamari) I own later today. :D

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

PSVita first impressions.

System is about half inch larger in length and width than the PSP3000. Seems to be about the same size in thickness. Screen is larger as well. 2 analog sticks (not nubs!) are really the only control difference on the front face.

Setup is easy, but has one little gotcha. You need to update the software before you can connect your PSN ID, so you have to choose to not attach your ID to finish the setup. Do the software update, then go to settings and connect your ID. Doesn't tell you this until you are most of the way through the setup. Should of been a bit more streamlined then that, such as just initiating the update prior to running the setup.

On the plus side, the battery came charged enough to do the update without getting the dumb "you must charge before updating" message. So kudos to them for that.

Screen is a touch screen, so the navigation relies heavily on it. Screens of icons move up and down, menu's tend to move left and right. On the back is also a touch pad which seems like it would interfere with games, but wasn't an issue for the first game I played.

Game cartridges seem slightly smaller than a DS game. The memory card (4GB in this case) is absolutely tiny. Probably smaller than a dime, and thinner.

System has both front and back cameras, and the bundle I bought came with 6 AR cards. Haven't tried to use them yet however.

Feels natural in your hand so far when playing. But I will have to see how it does with extended play time and when I need to use more of the controls (shoulder buttons, etc.).
