Yup, little Johnny has graduated from learning how to beat up hookers and shoot up his school to learning how to commit large-scale securities fraud. :D
How did they even manager to alter its price? I don't see anywhere to buy booze other than the Strip Club. I also don't see many other beer trucks (Logger Light) to blow up.

I think the "blow up the competitor's stuff to make your stock rise" theory doesn't hold water (outside of the assassination/heist missions, where it's hardcoded in.) Heard lots of mixed reviews on it, and couldn't get it to work myself (there's hardly any stuff to blow up, so it's not really worth your time anyway.)

Supposedly the BAWSAQ is connected to the Internet/Social Club. As a trial run, a bunch of people on Reddit and GTAForums bought low on ****wasser to see if merely purchasing could influence the stock or if it was just coincidence. Still inconclusive, but looks promising.

****wasser selloff beginning now. Sell PIS if you got 'em.

We shall see what happens to the share price. My guess is it's coded something simple like "for every million shares purchased globally, rise .01 percent, for every million shares sold globally, fall .01 percent." That way there wouldn't really be a need to account for scarcity - how on earth would you do that with infinite capital being generated and no limit on stock availability?

ETA: No crash, in fact it seems to have continued to rise. Perhaps it's meant for online.

GTA Online is live. However so far it is unplayable.

I was able to create a character and if I choose "Solo" I can get through the opening cinematic and related trophy/achievement. After that all I get is "failed to join" messages and kicked back to Story mode.

Oh, poo. R* specifically mentioned a ton of effort being put into making sure the servers wouldn't get farked.

I'd like to try hosting a 2 player game to see if that works, but I have no PS3 friends that are playing.

I'm on PS3. I might hop on later tonight if you're around late. Hopefully by then some of the server load has dropped off.

How are the servers doing?

Might pop on and check out online after $5 growler night.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Managed to get on late last night and made it about as far as JJ did. Walked into the circle to start the first race and it booted me.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VII: The 7th Generation Comes To A Close

Anybody ever use an autobuyer for FIFA Ultimate Team (or I guess NHL Ultimate Team, question is the same either way)? Are any of them trustworthy or are they all just scams?

Come on, I can't be the ONLY one who's not consuming my entire life with GTA, can I?

I just finished the first race (win) and then after I hit continue the screen never changed.

now on reload it doesn't remember that I have a online character and sends me to the creator. neat...

I understand that's related to R*'s cloud servers being down. Don't do anything unless you're sure you're connected to the cloud.

So I guess GTA V is a failure. What a shame.

Well, there is talk now that 15 million people tried to log in. I mean 15 million logging on at one time would crash a lot of systems. It sucks but it'll get worked out and it's not like there's a sweet offline game too.

He's being sarcastic and comparing it to people claiming the healthcare exchanges are failures because they crashed on day one as well.

What?

JJ, saw your race invites, was working on single player and probably going to hold off on going online a couple more days until I'm sure it's working.

Oh, and apparently kicking people online doesn't require a vote. Anyone can kick anyone else. Joy.

It was doing that automatically. Kinda weird.

So I've gotten online up and running. Some tips:

1. If you already have a character and are having trouble getting the first mission to start, delete that character from the pause menu in single player (in character select)

2. Be patient when it gives you a launching game message. It may take awhile but it will load.

3. When you get to the part of find a car: Be Very Careful what car you pick! This is your starting car for online and it's expensive to change it!

4. Save your money for an SMG. Buy cheap clothes when asked. Stuff in online is expensive and you have to unlock it by ranking (SMG unlocks at 5).

5. You don't have to do the team LTS match Lamar says to do. Just quit out when you accept it and you go into freeroam.

6. Join the Social Club. You get the sawed off shotgun free. Go to AmmuNation to get it. That thing is awesome in early deathmatches.
