Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Steam has a different EA deal every day this week.

Today is 25% off Dragon Age 2, and 50% off Dragon Age:Origins.

* just got real for non-gamers; isn't SOE the crap you have to sign up for if you play along with Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune at home?

Yep. Was thinking they wouldn't have my CC information cause every game I played through them was free, then remembered I used to have a Star Wars Galaxies account...Doubt they'd have 5-10 year old CC information still, but they might...

TFA mentioned that, something about a European server with data from 2007 or so.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

So will today finally be the day I can log in to change my password and see what credit card I had on file with Sony?

I hope so. I'd actually like to play some more Tiger Woods 12.

Why would you have the same CC number for that long? Every time I replace my card I request a new number.

Good for you? That's hardly standard practice, though.
Its not? I don't know obviously. Just seemed like common sense to not keep the same number for 10 years. I wasn't bashing you for it. Just sounds odd to me.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Some good Steam deals today.

- Plants vs Zombies GOTY - $3.40
- Sims 3 and all DLC is 40% or more off.
- Civ V Denmark + Explorer's DLC combo pack - $7.49

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Played some demo's tonight. Both indie and regular games.

Red Faction Armageddon looks as good as advertised. Demo starts you out with some nice weapons and the ability to repair destroyed environments.

Bangai-O HD Missle Fury should only be played by Twitch. It was fun actually, but until you learn the secrets to the levels its really just missile hell. It's cheap so I might consider getting the full version.

Save My Princess is awesome despite 8-bit looking graphics. supports 4-players, and has 4 classes to play. Its like Gauntlet meets a tower defense game meets an rpg.

FortressCraft: Chapter 1 is an incomplete game. Buying it funds them to make more parts for it. Basically your avatar can build or destroy blocks as well as choose their skin (dirt, iron, gold, etc.).

Danmaku is like trying to dodge rain.

I'd say Missile Fury is easier than Ikaruga. Not because there is less bullets, but because you get power up moves.

Such as a counter that can release 1000 missles either directionally or in all directions at once depending on what you want. Then you have things like a dash move, freeze attack, etc.

There is also some other game i want to try (forget name) where you get 1000 lives, but there is no save points and no continues. Its something about spike traps I think. You explore caves, temples, etc. and have to memorize what the dangers are.

Bah. Mass Effect 3 delayed until after the holidays.

Oh well, that gives me more time to get the computer back up and running and play the first 2 again.

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Today's Steam EA deal:

Mass Effect - $5.00
Mass Effect 2 - $9.99
Mass Effect 2 Deluxe - $19.99

Also looks like yesterdays deals are still good, for a little while at least.

With Skyrim slated for November, you might be busy anyways. :)

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

I decided to support the indie developers and bought FortressCraft: Chapter 1. It's only 240 points, and I had a lot already banked. Plus its pretty clear there are updates and improvements coming. Such as furniture, mine carts, crafting, pipes, etc. So at least for now it feels well supported.

Plus its like playing Legos.

Sony offering 1 year ID theft protection.

Exactly what I wanted. They've just saved me as a customer.
That is nice, even if US credit cards weren't taken. Which seems to be the case via the latest updates on Playstation Blog (5/5).

Re: Official Video Games Thread VI: Somebody set us up the bomb

Sony has backed off their "by the end of the week" timetable for PSN coming back online. It's now "within a month." Im not holding my breath anymore about PSN coming back.

Baseball game question

Baseball game question

I'm looking for a baseball series that has a rather easy approach to hitting, or can be set that way. I picked up MLB 09 The Show this weekend and I pretty much hate it. I'm looking for a baseball game where a toddler could pick up the controller and start launching bombs out of the park. I have no patience for the "challenge" of a video game. I just want to pick up the controller, and spank about every team 15-1. For me it's only about the entertainment value. Striking out every time I'm at the plate does not entertain me. I have all the latest generation consoles, so you won't need to limit your recommendations based on that. Also, I'd appreciate recommendations for prior year games so I can pick it up used at Gamestop.

Thanks

Seriously, just go with that... I have found that "old school" baseball games entertain me more than the newer ones for the reasons you stated... One button to throw, one to swing, and one to run... That's all you need...
