Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Played through Batman: Arkham Asylum again over the long weekend - I forgot how disappointingly easy Titan Joker was to beat. Sure I played it on Normal mode, but still, too easy.

When's Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 coming out? :D

Soon actually. I think by the end of the year.

That's disappointing. The Wii could be (and when used right, is) a useful tool for rehab and fitness. The tennis game helped my wrist and arm recover, and Wii Fit is great for exercise. It seems like Nintendo has confused vision. They could tap into a market of people who aren't gamers (I didn't have a console until after I had surgery) but they keep aiming games at kids. The PS3/XBox is the console of choice for traditional gamers; Wii should aim games at the non-traditional markets, rather than fight a battle they will surely lose.
Exactly. My Wife bought a Wii for us and all it gets used for is me playing with her on Wii Sports or Mario Kart. But 95% of our video game time is on the PS3. That's all the Wii is to a lot of people, a toy. Huge install base and all, it's still a toy for occasional use to most.

I haven't posted on this board in days. Blame (or thank, whichever) red dead redemption. This game is amazing. I just made it south of the border. It looks awesome on my new tv. THe starry nights are incredible.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Finally finished the last story mission. Interesting, but not how I wanted to see the story to end.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

apparently there's a crap-ton of DLC that will be made available in the near future.

While I hate the concept of DLC and think it's going to end up ruining gaming, I still can't wait for the extras.

Extending the life of a game only makes it more worthwhile to own. I agree they shouldn't cut content out the initial game just to say they have DLC. But if it's truly extra content released at a later time, i'm all for it.

I thought Fallout 3 did it right.

Yep, that's what I was trying to get at but sort of failed.

I'm truly afraid of what's going to happen with GT5 to make-up the the costs of pushing the release date out so far and so many times.

Btw, I'm sick and tired of my horses head getting in the way when I'm trying to kill packs of wolves or cougars. Seriously. I've blown the head off my horse with a shotgun more times than I care to admit. Gotta go back to the last autosave...

Oh, and one other thing. The scenery is spectacular in this game. During sunrise or sunset, let the game just sit. It should move to just an image of scenery. No HUD, no JM, nothing. You'll thank me later.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Another tip for RDR.

If there is a "stranger" mission you want to do but they never seem to appear. Use the track feature in the outfit screen.

For example, if you track the progress of the outfit that requires you to finish the "California" stranger mission, his purple circle will show up.

Where as if its not tracked, you may never see him.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

sweet jeebus... I just encountered my first grizzly bear. Good news is, I got him. Bad news is, his buddy got me... :(

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

So I actually bought RDR last week and I've yet to play it.

The reason is, about a month ago I started replaying GTA, determined to get 100%. I'm getting close, and I KNOW if I start playing RDR I'll never finish. I should be done by the end of this week...

I've finished the story, met all the random characters, and done all the friend activites.
I have 50 pigeons and 20 car thefts to go.
17 stunt jumps left to go.
Assassin missions.
And 6 races. That's it, then I'll be done.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Five Finger Fillet in Torquemada almost made me throw my controller....

I have yet to play that. A tip for clearing out a poker table. Play really conservatively until players bust each other out. Eventually everyone will bust out except for you and one other person. If you don't care about the money. Just go all in on every decent hand. If you bust out that's fine. You can buy back in with just the two of you again.

FFF is just memorization of button presses, but you have to do them fast as there is a timer.

The one in Torquemada is for an outfit. You have to beat 4 people, so thats 8 total rounds of the game you have to win.

The last round is (hidden): ABAYAXABAYABAYAXABAYABAYAXABAYA

Now do that really fast! But not too fast or you will get ahead of the sequence and still lose.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

I really don't want to have to play Five Finger Fillet. Liar's Dice is pretty fun though, especially when the opponents are dopes.
