I had the WC game in my cart to purchase, but I'm still really enjoying The Show. There's a ton of depth there. Playing a game in Franchise Mode is just like watching a real game (without the commercials). Some of the canned comments get repetitive...I can pretty reliably predict when Hudler or Campbell are going to chime in with something, and the first 50 times I heard the speech about Jacoby Ellsbury's bunting prowess I got the message. But the gameplay is remarkable. I can see myself playing it all summer.

The later parts of the game are where large portions like an HK factory was cut. The worst part is that the majority of it was close to being finished and then simply axed, actually leaving in the code.

I think gameplay will be better, the only thing I can see that would make FIFA 10 a more attractive purchase is the replayability factor. For instance, can you see yourself playing a World Cup video game into August or into fall? I know FIFA the club version is a little more favorable in that sense.

That's probably why I thought it was solid haha. Oh well. I'll probably never reinstall it anyways. It was *ahem* free.

Broke down and got World Cup. I looked at it as I would probably only use the same handful of teams in FIFA soccer, while I can see myself using a more significant amount in World Cup. With the FIFA, there are something like 31 leagues, probably like 25 of which I've never heard of (not a huge soccer fan, but they're generally fun games to play and you can get a fair number of people to play with), so I would naturally very rarely, if ever, use any teams from those leagues.

I might decide to get the regular FIFA in, say, August or something when I overplay this, who knows.

I picked it up today and played just one game. It plays beautifully and is just a joy. It also feeds the evil part of my brain in that I'd love to create the "Awkward Moments" World Cup field. You know, set up Israel, Palestine, Iran and Iraq in the same group. Or North Korea, South Korea, China and Chinese Taipei.

Ya, I really enjoyed the demo, even though I haven't really figured out all of the controls.

I can totally see doing that as well. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to dive into it.

Finally ordered Mass Effect 2 from Amazon since I've got enough rewards points to get it for free - even got the collector's edition since it's on sale.

Enjoyed the first one even though it was a bit on the short side - the length is what kept me from paying for the sequal when it came out.

Was at GS today putzing around.

Apparently on Tuesday Record of Agarest War Limited Edition came out. Look it up (maybe not at work), I didn't think GS would sell a game like that, nor did i really think one would come out for 360 in the US.

I certainly had never heard of it until today.

Great, now we can all look forward to "Halo of Duty: Future Warfare 6", closely followed by expensive DLC with lockouts for people who buy pre-owned.
Also, every PC version will require their owners to send off a DNA sample, Bank Records, Full Medical History, must be permanently connected to the Internet at ALL times, and any install greater than 1 will require a special authorisation direct from Activision to allow one to install a 2nd time. A 3rd option does not exist, and PC owners must buy another copy.

Did some more research on this once I was at home. Apparently its just a regular srpg from Japan. They just used the box art and LE included items as a marketing ploy.

It worked, as I was intrigued. I believe the game itself is not even rated M.

I sucked horribly at it and have been backing off the contact and power slider options as I get better.

The other things I would highly recommend are going to classic baserunning (the new style is awful), taking BP before every game trying to spray the hits throughout the field working your way across (I watch the twins do this exact same thing when they take BP), and making sure the fielder view for throwing buttons is on.

Edit: My buddy suggested another tip when I was struggling. When you first start out, always guess fastball, if it is a fastball take a swing if it looks good. If it's not, let it go until you can start to read the pitches better. If you find yourself down in the count protect the plate.

Well, amazingly enough, after 5 seasons of bouncing around in the minors, I finally got my chance with the Tigers and I'm batting like 375 and having my best season ever with time split between AAA and MLB. If I keep this up my pre all-star game call up to the majors stint will be better than any other season total (excluding my AAA time in 2015).

I noticed the same thing when I got called up. It was night and day. i could hit for power, I could field, everything. Very weird.

I've hit more home runs in my short stint in the majors (70 ABs) than I have in any other season (granted 2 of them were cut very short with injuries but still).

I've been playing WSM 09 this weekend. Started a new campaign with Inter (No first window transfers + hidden stats).

Team was bought by a rich Australian at the end of August, and he dumped an extra $94 million into the teams revenue. So I assume I will have a ton of cash to spend for the 2nd window (January). Who to buy?! :D

I started the season with 12 injured players. I am down to 1 or 2 now. Although one of them is out 7 months.

8 games in and I am 1 point clear of AC for first in Serie A. My CL group is Marseille, PSV, and some Romanian club.

I pitched two straight Complete Game shutouts, had an ERA at 1.66 and was 3rd in the league with 44 Ks and got pushed back to the bullpen for Carlos Zambrano coming off the DL with the Red Sox. :mad:

Ive given up 4 homeruns all season...all to Carlos Pena on the Rays.
