Well if you get desperate for cars you could do the Birthday trick.

- Set up a new PSN account using a different email address.
- Give it the current date as your birth day and month.
- Give it the year of the cars you want (e.g. 12/1/1991)
- Send a friend request from your main PSN to the new one, accept it.
- Log in as new PSN, start GT5 and do the GT mode setup till you receive your free birthday car ticket.
- Buy a Used/New car (required by game), then gift the free car ticket (don't redeem yet) to your main PSN.
- Exit the game.
- Delete the save data for GT5.
- Repeat as much as you want for that day.
- Occasionally log in to your main PSN account and receive all of your gifts.

You will always get a random car from the list of cars made in the year of your birthday. It definitely works all the way up to 1992.

You can also trade over museum cards, paint chips and any car you buy from the dealership or used.

According to UPS, my PS3 and GT5 are projected to arrive on December 1st, the first night of Hanukkah.

I could get used to this Jewish thing :D

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Ok, so I finally won a car that's worthwhile. A Buick 62 Special. The thing just tore through the classic supercar races without any modifications. Man, it's an absolute beast. Heavy and fast.

Picked up Goldeneye for the Wii, and its quite fun.
One complaint: I was playing the game with a friend at my house, and we wanted to go online and try the multiplayer, but it only allowed one of us to be online to play against other people. There wasn't a way for both of us to be online and do a split screen against other people from around the globe. Has anyone else experienced this, or were we just too drunk to figure it out?

JPF: I don't own the Wii version sorry. Just the N64 one. But its possible that its not an option to have split screen + online at the same time.

GT5 peeps (or any PS3 owners really) remember to add me to your friend list so we can trade, race, etc. PSN ID is in signature.

Forest merely setback!

Ran the Stormwind Stockades earlier to get some mats and found out that Hogger is a buffed up boss in there. I just about pee'd myself when he yelled that and then later enraged and nearly killed me.

Finished up the two plaguelands and moved into The Badlands then Burning Steppes, both of which had some really nice quest chains. Badlands had a quest from hell in that you had to take these 3 dwarves to go kill an elite dragon. This wouldn't have been so hard if I could have summoned my pet with them following me. So they kept catching aggro form the dozens of dragon whelps that were around.

After this and a lot more work I was sent into a barracks of some bad dwarves and told to steal their pillows so that they would die of sleep deprivation. (That's literally what the quest described happening)

Burning Steppes culminated in a really grand couple of quests where you get to fly around on a dragon and slaughter hundreds of blackrock orcs who were attempting some kind of attack. I do wish I would have killed all I could because it's a phased portion and I only killed the minimum which meant I had to fight my way through a lot to deal with the few surviving leaders.

After that a friendly goblin took me on to the next zone by flying me there on a rocket. A rocket that exploded at the end when she crashed it into more rockets. Oh goblins.

I'm having so much fun questing in this game that I honestly want to roll at least 2 more alts just to be able to do all the major quest chains.

Unrelated to racing, but if the next Civ 5 patch doesn't actually fix major parts of the game, I'm about ready to toss it into the "Master of Orion 3" Category. Great theory, bad execution.

If this turns out to be the case, its a major failure on the developers part. MAJOR failure.

What do you want to be fixed? Only issue I really had was it being slow. But I think that was a memory issue for me.

I dunno. I can't think of that many games that actually offer that option. Super Smash Bros. Brawl? But that's not even split screen, its full screen shared.

I'm guessing this has to do with online being a bit on the slow side even without lag, and more than a bit on the slow side with lag.

The splitscreen maps are supposedly smaller than the single-screen ones, to give a more arcade-feel.

Combining the two would probably be one of those things that sounds cool in principle, but is a complete trainwreck in practice.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

From the Wiki article (which cites an official Activision release note):
GoldenEye 007 features two multiplayer combat modes: offline split screen for up to four players and online play for up to eight players. The online multiplayer is provided through the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, and though up to eight players can connect to a game remotely, only one local player is allowed at a time.

That explains it, thanks.

Works fantastically for Mario Kart.

The splitscreen maps are smaller, much smaller. Almost too small in my opinion, but they didn't ask me. :)
