Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

I've always thought goalies coming out to play the ball was crap, in every version of FM. It's nearly a goal everytime they come out past the 18.

I also always enjoyed the pass back to the goalie from beyond midfield. Yeah that's not dangerous...

I don't watch entire games, i only watch key highlights. Otherwise the game would really take forever to play. So I haven't really noticed the issues with field players.
I watch the extended highlights, not the key, so there's a bit more actual match action, and it seems to happen multiple times every game that I find myself yelling "COME ON, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" at one of my players who's lollygagging toward a contested loose ball. Hopefully it's an AI error that will get fixed at some point.

Unrelated: I saw a good deal on the XBox 360 4 GB today; is it possible to add storage to that in any manner that's more cost-efficient than buying the official 250 GB external hard drive from Microsoft (which would make the cost more than just buying a 250 GB system in the first place)?

Mass Effect 2 goes in the "why didn't I want this right away" column. Very fun.

Yes it is. Wish they woulda left a little more of the RPG elements in, but really can't argue that it's still overall vastly superior to ME1. Looking forward to ME3, since I've got a couple different Shepards to run through to see how choices impact the end game.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Well Cataclysm is fully out now.

Worgen - Epic starting zone, highly scripted and with a lot going on. I only wish that it had more things that required a group dynamic because there are several fights where you're supposed to be part of a group but they end up being mainly solo affairs.
Goblin - Pretty much a bunch of boring gimmicks. Not engaging at all. It's sort of like running around with a bunch of gremlins trying to be gangsters giving you quests. Which I guess can be fun if you're in the right mood. Actually if there was more scripting and thematic elements to it the first area would be a lot better but there isn't even any reason to read the quest text.

Short answer is no. You need to buy the 120 or 250gb as part of a package otherwise you will just overpay.

Meh, that's what I figured. Wish I could find a good deal on a PS3 or a 360 not bundled with games I don't want.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Can't you use USB's for storage now?
You can, but using them isn't really efficient when they are small and more expensive per GB than a HDD.

Who cares what games come with it? Trade the game in or sell it to someone. If you can find a 250GB for 299.00 that is what you should get, either system regardless of game.

Also, I've read that the 360 caps the amount that can be used at 16GB per USB device regardless of the overall size of the device, so you'd need a bunch to approach the amount of storage even on a 120GB drive.

Would rather not deal with the hassle of having to unload games.

Buy this one. Both those games are good and you get points to spend on MS Network.

Appreciate the recommendation, but I have no interest in either of those games, just not a fan of either genre.

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

Okay, so I'm on an 11-game losing streak at Poker Night at the Inventory because of stuff like this.

Pocket queens, raise pre-flop, Strong Bad and Heavy call.

Flop comes 243.

Turn is a 10. At this point Strong Bad begins literally beating his head against the table. I assume this is the game's "tell" system, and obviously he missed his straight draw. Heavy bets big (he likes to bully people out of the hand with big bets if he has a chip lead.) I call. Strong Bad, despite having told everyone in the world that he missed his draw, then RAISES. Heavy calls, I call myself all in.

River is a 6.

Heavy flips over 96.

Strong Bad flips over J5.

* poker.

Found SMG2 new for $39 at Amazon today, so I picked that up while shopping for christmas gifts.

You're a dick. :p
You've never mentioned what games you do like, so I am left to guess based on your dislikes.

@Twitch I sent you some museum (GT5) cards last night. They were my duplicates.

Heh, sorry, you're right. (Well, we have been discussing Football Manager, but clearly I'm not buying a PS3 in order to play that.) I like sports games (except basketball). I like FPS games, even though I suck at them. I like sandbox games. I like... how would you describe The Warriors for PS2? That was the game that made me buy a PS2. I sometimes like RPGs, but I'm afraid if I owned a good current RPG and also FM then I would just stop going to work. I've just never enjoyed driving games, and never enjoyed horror games, and those happened to be the two things included with that bundle. :p

I need $900 so I can buy this bundle. Anyone have $900 they want to give me? (42" LG 1080p LCD, PS3 160 GB, 1 game (selected from a list of 29), 2 Blu-Ray movies (selected from a list of 77), one extra controller, one Blu-Ray remote. WANT.

(On further review it's not a tremendously great deal, the TV is $380 from Best Buy, but I still want all those things.)

Re: Official Video Games Thread V: Collector's Edition

How about this one? An FPS and another shooter type game for $339.00.

Also I think you get a 2nd controller. So not too shabby.

Level 2 B-Spec Drivers + Veyron (900+hp) + Daytona Raceway = Disaster.
