Woo FM11 unlocked early (today)! Spent the last 2 hours getting used to the interface changes from 09. The default UI skin is nice and clean.

If you don't see me for a couple weeks, you know why. :D

I've also been seeing the tv spot for WoW-Cataclysm and I am not that impressed with it compared to the marketing they did for Starcraft 2. That group of commercials they did way back when with the celebrities, which I believe were timed to promote the Wrath expansion were better. And Wrath is a terrible expansion. Perhaps something that actually explains the lore a little bit since Deathwings whole angry dragon thing is kind of a mystery without actually doing a lot of work in game and reading two novels.

That's the commercial I was referring to.

It looks like todays Gold Box deals on Amazon are all going to be video game related.

The deal of the day is for "Enslaved" for the PS3 and XBox for $25.

The current deal is for "Sid Maiers' Pirates" for the Wii for $20 (84% claimed)
The 10AM PST deal: The carnival is coming back to town.
The 2PM deal: Get on board with big air and big tricks.
The 6PM deal: The best and the latest Street Fighter.

So it's been 6 years to the day since Halo 2 came out. Such memories...got the game at midnight, and it pretty much was the only game I played for 3 years of my life. I played nonstop. Made a few video montages (won money with two of them), even went to 3 MLG events in New York. Met some great people, made some fantastic friends.

Since I can't really afford to buy all the parts and build a new PC right now, I decided to buy some more memory. I've been stuck at 1 GB since I made this one. So I am going to max it out at 4 GB (MB only supports that much, and DDR to boot) for now. It should help run games like FM11 a bit faster.

*Sniff, sniff* I smell bull ****. I'm with JF on this. I don't doubt they want to release it then, but quite frankly, this is one of the worst cases of a mismanaged release that I have ever seen. I really, really hope at least a few people have or will lose their jobs over this debacle.

Besides not being a standard release day, its the day before a major US holiday. I wonder what kind of sales they expect on it for that week/weekend.

Black Friday. That way they'll be able to play the "GT5 sold 98732498732984 copies after 3 days" hype. They're going for the glory.

They had better ship way more disks than usual to Best Buy/GameStop/etc. otherwise I can see it being sold out before Black Friday.

Amazon.com is going to have a full week of specials on video games starting tomorrow and running daily through the 22nd (when a whole new special starts as they get ready for Black Friday). Some of the advertised deals include the Wii Balance Board+Wii Fit = $50 video game gift card. They also advertise special deals on World of Warcraft, Wii hunting and fishing games and music bundles (Rock Band), as well as accessories.

Target and Best Buy have also advertised big discounts on games for Black Friday.

My first experience with NFS Hot Pursuit reminded me why I don't game as often as I used to. Total sequence from turning on XBox to foot on gas pedal went as follows:

- Insert disc and turn on XBox.
- XBox Live update, spend 10 minutes downloading and installing.
- System resets, spiffy new startup sequence.
- Install game to HD, takes about 10 minutes (I prefer to do this to all my games because it loads faster and saves wear and tear on the XBox.)
- Start game.
- Booted off XBox Live because game has an update available. Download and install update.
- Game makes it past developer logos to title screen, connects to XBox Live.
- New XBox Live Terms of Service. Why it didn't show me this 15 minutes ago is beyond me. Accept.
- Game RESETS because of change in Terms of Service, sit through developer logos and title screen AGAIN.
- Enter 25 character keycode for online (EA, in their infinite bastardry, are trying to charge people who rent or bought the game secondhand to get online.)
- Watch UNSKIPPABLE 2-minute preview for NFS Shift 2.
- Watch UNSKIPPABLE 2-minute intro to the game's menu and Autolog system (despite having played the demo and read pretty much every preview that explains how the system works.)
- Select Career, select race and car.
- Go.

Whatever happened to "Press Start?"

Oh, I am. I'll be back.

Whining about stuff and then doing nothing about it - it's the American way!

ETA: I'll probably run out NFS Hot Pursuit on the 360, then look at a PS3 after the Black Friday madness subsides. Stupid being a working stiff and being 4 hours behind the civilized world.
