Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

The Polls and camparisons updated late in the day, I think Oswego get's in, win or lose. Platsburgh probably does'nt get in if they lose. I'm hoping Johnson and Gerstakis on the back end make a big difference and we play better then Whiteout weekend. The big line, Montagna, Hulsaf and Herlihey hav'nt scored in the last 5 periods, plus the PP was 0 for ? against Buffalo. I'm predicting...............the dam breaks and we score 5 and chase Platsburgh goalie out of the game.
This will be a fast game and Johnson and Gert will make a difference, but that doesnt mean we will win.I hope we get some scoring from some unlikely sources come sat night, that may be what makes the difference,as the regulars have been somewhat cooold as of late,we do have well balanced scoring, but cant rely on the big M line.Bport scored 5 goals on 20 shots, that would be nice, but I dont see that happeneing,30+ shots will be needed, and a ton of net crashing.

Like Adams perhaps?

I think we're in no matter what IF Adrian and Amherst both don't lose, if they do lose its Trinity, Adrian and Amherst with the Pool C's

I guess this weekend I'm an Adrian and Amherst fan. Trinity has probably already taken a C bid, leaving 2 available to fight for between Adrian, Amherst, Oswego, and possibly SNC. If either Adrian or Amherst wins their game and gets an autobid, then I think Oswego is more deserving than a St. Norbert that lost. A losing St. Norbert though would mean a winning Adrian, freeing up another C bid so both Oswego and SNC could go. If Adrian and Amherst both lose, then SNC is getting the NCHA auto-bid, leaving Oswego to compete with Adrian and Amherst. Amherst winning is more important than Adrian though. Adrian winning leaves Oswego to compete with SNC. Adrian losing leaves Oswego to compete with Adrian for a bid. Our chances are better against SNC, but by no means guaranteed. Amherst winning doesn't leave anyone from that conference to compete with. If Amherst wins, the bids would go to Trinity, Oswego, and whoever loses the Adrian-SNC game (most likely).

UWSP and Hobart are going to be fighting for the B bid. We'll see how that works out for them.

Let's say Oswego does win this weekend though. And so does Amherst and so does Adrian. Those three teams all get autobids and don't need C bids. I'm sure SNC would get one C bid, and of course Trinity is already a lock for one. That leaves one more. Norwich, if they lost, would be a frontrunner. But also UMass Boston and even Plattsburgh could make a claim. So if Plattsburgh cannot get an autobid this weekend, they really want Norwich, Adrian, Amherst to all win.

Man I really wish Trinity was getting an auto-bid and didn't need a C.

Full disclaimer: Any of these calculations may turn out to be completely wrong. Win and you move on. Lose and you may not. Simple as that.

Just as I posted on the other thread, if OSU loses they will be just a 3 loss team, a RNK of 2-1-1, hold an edge in common opponent with Hobart, H-2-H, and SOS will go up playing PSU. OSU is in, where and against who will be the question.

I disagree that Oswego is in.

Adrian, Amherst and Norwich all lose and Hobart wins, I don't think Oswego is a lock by any stretch of the imagination in that scenario.

I'm pretty sure Oswego beats SNC in every criteria. We'd get in over them

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

I will not pretend to understand all the primary and secondary criteria - hell I don't even know what some of the labels stand for. I do know that we have an even chance of winning Saturday and I hope for an exciting game with the outcome determined by the play on the the ice of two very evenly matched teams with great coaches and storied histories. Let's hope the third team on the ice in black and white wants the same thing. It's Survive and Advance time...play like your (playoff) life depends upon it and let the bids fall where they may...

I'm with Lou, all this whos on first whats on second,my head hurts:confused:....I would hope they sent top officials to the game sat night, as I said it will be a fassssst game and we need refs that can keep up,and stay out of the way.

Indeed. I hope the game is decided by the teams in green and red. Not the team in black & white.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Well we got out played all around up and down, wow what a bad game we were out played in all facets.Out hustled which is the worst,we looked like we didnt want it at all.Zman kept us in from the very start. How many shots can we shoot wide??? Also how many can we have blocked, we need to get the shots off faster.Didnt see the stats, but I am sure we lost at least %75 of the faceoffs.Lost the special teams game. We were off all night as far as offense as well, the little that we produced.Do we deserve the NCAA's,probably due to the years work, but we will last about 1 period if we play like we have in the past few games.Congrats to the Birds they out everythinged us alllll night,if we get into the next round of games lets hope we dont play the Birds as they dominated.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Were we watching the same game? Oswego played a very good game, had great sustained pressure at times that kept Plattsburgh reeling. The difference was the Cardinals' defense; I have never seen that many blocked shots before and they protected their goalie well. Staying out of the sin bin and a strong pk also helped. Holding the Lakers to 1 goal is amazing but they played a great game and should get an at-large bid. The gwg was stunning!
Good luck in the tournament.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Played too much on the boards - tried to be more physical. Didn't work. Offense has been non existent since 5 minutes into the Potsdam game. I think Ed is bluffing when he says that he's not concerned about it. I do not see this team being selected for the tournament.

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

Coach Digby was candid and on point during the post game WNYO interview "We played average...one of our worst performances...no zone time, none of the intangibles worked for us...we got beat....but we are much better than this...we needed a big game performance tonight - we didn't get it...other than Z

Laker Fans should all root for Amherst today - if they win we should be ok, if they don't, I am not so sure.....

Coach Digby nailed it, average at best, out played and out hustled like I said before,we had a few flurries in their Offensive zone and they didnt amount to a hill of beans, yes to much board/cycling.One thing I seemed to noticed was that Platty seemed to be catching us,lifting our sticks and disrupting the play many many times .Ok well we wait and see what happens, otherwise not a bad year.....ps. Zman was very good and nice to see Bonner net one....

Re: Official Oswego State 2014-2015 Thread...LETS FINISH THE JOB!!!!!

First of all, I would like to thank the many Oswego fans who made the trip for helping make it a fantastic atmosphere last night (despite my initial complaint about the ticketing situation).

The game on the ice last night was absolutely fantastic, from a Plattsburgh perspective and from a neutral one, as well. Never more than a 1-goal game, it was certainly nerve-racking right to the end. Oswego is not a bad team, by any means, and I was always afraid they would flip a switch in their heads and suddenly take this game back. Let's be honest, the Lakers have the ability to come out of the locker room and shoce the puck down Plattsburgh's throat from the get-go, but that didn't happen last night. Plattsburgh played the perfect game plan to disrupt everything the Lakers tried to do, and certain players began to get visibly frustrated (notably 2 players who threw their sticks to the ground as they stormed off to the locker room just before the end of the 2nd period). In the end, the Oswego goal was probably one of only 2 or 3 truly dangerous chances on goal all night.

If I were a Laker fan, I would be both frustrated and nervous. The team is 1-2-1 over the last 3 weeks, with 2 of those games being rivalry games in which Plattsburgh absolutely dictated play for the majority of each. While there is certainly some thing to be said for the Cardinals suddenly figuring out how to win the big games, that's no excuse for Oswego. Wjile it was certainly an entertaining game (and a nerve-wracking one), it was a lackluster performance from Oswego). These last 3 weeks have brought Oswego from a virtual lock for the tournament to a team that is praying for help in Amherst today. Anything can happen, of course, but if Williams gets the win today, I think Oswego's season is done. And, given the results on the ice of late, I don't think the Lakers would have any cause for complaint if that were to happen.

I've never been a fan of Amherst, but today. Oswego deserves a chance at the NCAA, Plattsburgh made good on their chance when Potsdam gave it to them, I'm hoping Amherst gets the job done this afternoon.
