Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Why don't you ex-Lakers get organized and have reunion's like Plattsburgh does every other summer. It's loads of fun and the boys cut loose for a couple of nights. Golf tourney Saturday am. It takes a good bit of effort to get it started, but after that it's pretty smooth. If you can get it together, who knows, maybe we can hold a Laker-Cardinal event !! Now that would be a hoot !!

Since you fellows seem to know each other from the past, I am surprised you don't return for the Herb Hammond Can-Am Golf Tournament which has been held for the past 4 years. A good opportunity for a reunion and to support a good cause. For details you should get ahold of Dick Johnson whom I assume, if you are as wired as your chatter suggests, you know or can easily contact at nearly every Laker game just asking.

Not sure who the admiral0417 is, but seems to have his head on straight and he tells it like it is,as he played at Platty he must have had/has some skills so there is always that bond even though I would have crossed checked him to hell if he went near our crease:p,probably a slash to the angles as well, after I told the ref to watch him as he had done that to me the shift b4:p,an old trick I learned from my dad in his old football days, worked for me on the gridiron as well....As for the reunions, fun to hang and drink,i dont play golf yet ,will wait until I cant walk b4 I do that:D,thanks for the info..

Gotta give props to Galati too. He's a goal-scoring machine and it's nice to see a laker back in the #1 spot for goal-scoring in D3.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Not sure after how things progressed over break that I thought we would be in 4th place in the conference after tonight. Yikes.

Not making excuses but you have to wonder if the schedule finally took it's toll on them?
10 games over the last 22 days.

7-2-1 over that stretch I guess is not bad kind of reminds me of the schedule SU has for b-ball year in and year out when it comes to quick turn arounds for conference play.

If it was not for certain yesterday well now it is. The Lakers need to win the conference tourney to get into the NCAA's. They are not getting a Pool C now with this bad loss. They also have to be wary of seeding for the SUNYAC Tournament. Pretty tough to get a first round bye right about now.

They continue to bring average effort to games against perceived weaker teams and they have been getting away with it. Tonight they didn't get away with it but I am not going to say they will learn from this because they haven't yet. They will now have their backs against the wall the rest of the way and we will see if they have the intestinal fortitude to make a run at it like their predecessors did.

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

They are playing down to their opponents the last two Saturdays and even to an extent last night. Even though they did get the W. Doesn't make you feel all warm and cozy as a fan.

It is a tough place to play as are most SUNY away rinks....Buff State always gets up for the upper teams. Remember they tied Plattsburgh earlier in the season

I didn't see the game tonight, but reading the box score, they had a goalie chased again? This being the third time this semester with Gilbert v Nazareth, Zawadzki v Elmira & Buff State is a bit of a concern. Hopefully this goalie situation gets figured out quickly so they have a chance to make a run. This young team has come together very well, and quickly. It just seems the goalies are slumping a bit right now, and one needs to kick it in gear for us to see an interesting remainder of the season. As always, it's going to be fun to watch it play out

OSWEGO hasn't loss to Buffalo in Buffalo in a really long time. Might be never........... bad loss. Need to regroup and start kickin some *ss.

33 shots and no goals??? not the issue, hot goalies can carry a team, we've all seen it. 4 goals in one period, 3 in the last 5 minutes-ish. Well.........

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Sounds like the Lakers got "Kevin Carr-ed" .... He's capable of beating a good team all by himself. He's been one of the top 5 goalies in D3 hockey since his freshman year.

Oswego had never lost to Buffalo State period.

Until last night...

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

Hockey is a 60 minute game...we played 40... You have to give Buff State credit, they took advantage of our mistakes and made us pay...we couldn't buy a goal....Carr was outstanding...and his teammates played hard for the full 60....

33 shots and no goals is certainly an issue. Offense need to change it up to solve a tender. Not scoring on power plays, while Buffalo scores on 2/4 is a problem. Oswego has an extremely successful and high profile program that should transition goalies, not start season with three inexperienced goalie and really a young inexperienced team. You have to keep your eye on next season too. Zawaski has better stats at the moment than Elmira's starting freshman goalie (they are winning) and Karr all 4 years. Consistent goalies will win championships. Last night was certainly not Zawaski best game, but plenty improvement can be made at all positions.

just not sure about our netminding from day 1,I think we will be talking/writting about it thru the off season if ya know what I mean.

agree about the goalie transition,I thought there would be a transfer coming in,but we got 2 freshman goalies and I was concerned from that point on look at Platty they brought in a D1 proven goalie transfer for next yr already...Zman has played well, but experience is a key, they rest of the season we will be focusing on netminder I would imagine , along with playing a full game/weekend...

Re: Official Oswego State 2013-2014 Season Thread - A New Beginning...

As for the game last night,we got beat plain and simple..they beat us on special teams, in the corners, between the pipes and on the scoreboard. No goals on a 5-3, and a 5 minPP,2 5 min PP this weekend and no goals...we had no bodies IFO the net Carr had good views of most shots, and those he will and did save.we hit a few posts,ow well..Hushlof needs to bury a few . Thats a tough trip to buffalo, the team is young a inexperienced, they now have some more of it,should pay off at a later date?? As for netminding and pulling zman again, coach G did what he had to do,I think we will see some movement this off season, just a guess.due to lack of experience,I thought bringing in 2 freshman goalie may be a cause for concern.i think that both gilbert and zman could be good goalies, but need to have more practice experience/game, seems like if you loss a few games your out of NCAA consideration, not to mention the SUNYAc's so you cant risk that with freshman goalies game in and game out ...can you??Like I posted b4,look at Platty they already have a proven D1 netminder on the bench ready for next yr..its a dog eat dog world and im wearing milkbone underwear sort of speaking:D
