Seen that in the liquor store many times and thought about it, but didn't want to commit to a whole fifth and can't seem to get a mini or even a pint.
I couldn't see the picture, but from the responses I take it you're talking about Woodford. Woodford will blow that Knob Creek you were drinking out of the water. Woodford is effing awesome.

I've become friends with the mid-west Ambassador for Woodford. Fun to compare notes with since he's well versed on his competitors also. He's a pretty decent golfer and great to play with since his bag is always full of minis. He pulled out a fifth of his company's tequila during a rain delay last year. Even the course ranger was chugging it down with us. I think we finished the back nine but not positive.

I had this Jamaican wine at the bar tonight and it tasted like ginger ale in wine form. It was amazing, except it doesn't mess you up that badly. I think the brand was called Stoney's. Funny enough, it is made in England.

Just started two batches of beer yesterday (a cream ale and a honey kölsch), so they'll probably be done by early June. It's my first time brewing - we'll see how this turns out, but I enjoy it so far. :)

Good luck, particularly with the kölsch. I hear it's one of the tougher ones to get right, as KBC Blonde should prove.

A few notes for you, if you haven't done enough studying already. ;)

It'll be fun to see how they turn out, yes. My friend has the fermentation buckets at his house, and we're considering doing secondary fermentation on both of them - the cream ale is a bit thick still. The kölsch is a kit from Northern Brewer so I'm not that worried (an infection is possible, I suppose, but we sterilized stuff well with bleach or One Step), and the cream ale comes from a recipe in a brewing magazine (didn't notice which).

Pulling on a long neck of Shiner Bock, not a bad brew at all. Kinda tastes like Germany in a Bottle, only its from Texas.

That is a tasty beer. First had it years and years ago (maybe early 90's?) when I was in Dallas, only to find out I couldn't get it in MN at that time.

Say, I wonder if I could have a drink in the doc's office tomorrow during my EMG test. *ing needles.

Spaten Optimator

This is the second "green bottle German import" that I've had that I would bother buying again (the other was Hofbrau Original).

Tastes like liquid rum raisins. Yum.

The Optimator is a fine brew. I drink that with my meal when I visit the Gasthof in Mpls.

I really have to get to Gasthof's. I am tentatively planning on being up in the area at the beginning of June. Pencil in your calendars.

Honestly, if you want a meal, it's best to have 6-10 people, and definitely make reservations. It's very ambiance/atmosphere based. They had a restaurant in Montrose, and of course, given the rural area, it got rowdy and fun most times.

I shall take your advice. You know you are the first one invited. ;)

Here's some more:

It'll run about $30+ for a meal and a beer. But you won't eat until the next night. Awesome food, I recommend the spatzle with whatever else you order. And if you go on a weekend, there's polka downstairs until midnight, then usual club/top 40 music. $11/L beer downstairs, $6 for 1/2L. Doesn't matter what beer you have. A boot is $24 (IIRC it's 2L), but you have to pay a $50 deposit, in case you break said boot.
