Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

My parents live in Iron River. I've been in there. Once.

If Iron River has a hippie town hall, this would be it. I half expected a bongo circle/poetry slam/nuke protest to be in full swing when I walked in.

The Kro Bar in Brule......now that's my speed. :D

It's true, but they make good booze despite the air of hippiness. Besides, you don't have to drink it there. :p

The trick-or-treaters are coming! My glass has lots of the Elijah Craig in it. Hope it's enough. ;)
I know you're like 12 hours ahead over there, but umm, isn't it still just the 30th? Do you have enough Elijah Craig to last through tomorrow?

Had a yummy Bell's Best Brown at lunch. Found out they have KBC cans there...and are $2 on Wed. Coworkers asked if it KBC was any good, I educated them.

Or if nothing else, can you bribe a kid with extra candy to go steal his dad's bottle of whiskey? :D (Hopefully the kid comes back with something better than Old Granddad ;))

They have KBC downstate now? Awesome!

Re: Official Drinking Thread Pt 5: Four Horsemen + Jerry: It's called The Voltron!

I received a bottle of Naked Grouse (blended Scotch) and Buffalo Trace (straight Kentucy bourbon) at work today. :)

Sounds like you had a good day at work.

I have some Elijah Craig waiting for me at home.

Probably going to hit the alphabet store this weekend. I'm running low on bourbon, and the wife is running low on whatever fru fru crap she drinks.

Oh, and have any of you tried Red Stag? I was a bit hesitant to try a flavored bourbon, but it's not half bad. And Red Stag + Dr. Pepper = deliciousness.

I need beer.

Whiskey will do as well.

The building management here informed us all on Wednesday that trick-or-treating was moved to Friday night. (There are five 40-story towers in this complex, so it takes some organizing. Vertical trick-or-treating! ) Why? Nobody knows. Messed up a lot of plans.

That Bell's Brown is tasty stuff!

I saw that at a bar this summer. The label is so basic, I thought it was in-house blend or something. I joked to my friend, "I wonder if the Jim Beam rep would appreciate this bar using an old JB bottle to put their own flavored stuff in." My friend goes, "It is by Jim Beam." :o If you say so, I'll give it a try it sometime.

That's my favorite brown ale. A lot of them are too sweet/one-dimensional, but Bell's Best Brown is just about dead on.

Eel River Certified Organic Porter. Ignore organic, it has the same flavor as non-organic. Perhaps slightly under malted, but it is true to its style. Possibly top 5 of all porters for me.

[edit] Just now trying New Belgium's 2 Below. Me likey.

Make that TWO fifths of whiskey, please. Thank you.

I could tell what happened before I even looked at the scores. :D

Yeah, not good. Meltdown Factor never got above a 4, thank goodness (and the 4 was only for a brief moment). But still.

Why can't you ship wine to Massachusetts!

Had Velvet Devil from this winery with buffalo steak when I was in Florida and now I'd like to get a few bottles.

Surly Furious Ale.

Fitting, because the wife is mad at me. And vice versa.

Probably to protect all those local Massachusetts wineries. Are there wineries in Mass?
