Talisker Distiller's Edition

This may be the best single malt I've ever had. Worth the $70.

Odell's Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout here. Lovin' it. So good.

It's nothing new or unique to hipsters. Carona was popular with the California surfer crowd because they could pick it up in Mexico for like $3/case. I used to drink Rolling Rock when I lived in PA 'cause it was decent, cheap beer. Now both are seen as "special" beers and command ridiculous prices in bars - they're not that good people.

I like living in my small town. For awhile the best special around was two coney's and a sixer of PBR for $10.

I can definitely get behind this sentiment. I grew up in a small town but have gone to school in two large cities. I am used to throwing down a 20 for 2-3 drinks. I go back home and a 20 lasts twice as long.

My dad came down for a badger game and we were at Dotty's next to the stadium. We ordered three drinks and he laid down a 20. Total bill was 24 plus tip (and he tips well). I had to laugh when he realized he was not in small town Wisconsin anymore and he had to break out a 50.

Yeah, I laugh when my dad complains about a drink being $4-5 somewhere. We go out for dinner at a bar near our deer camp and the drinks are more expensive back home for him but for me, they're still cheap. Anything under $5 for a mixed drink and I feel pretty good these days.

Dunno why I didn't think of this before:

Had the Kangas Kool-Aid: Monster Khaos/vodka.
Re-named Patterson Punch: Monster Khaos/vodka.

New name for a drink: The Green Card: Monster Cuba Lima/Captain Morgan. Why? It's legit. :D

Brent is better at naming than I am. The best I could come up with was a derivative of an existing drink. Houghton County Ice Water = 1 oz. aquavit, 1 oz. vodka, topped off with tonic.

I would have gone into marketing, but I'd have to kill myself. ;)

Rye Wyne Ale 2012 from Brau Brothers. Holy *ing sh*t does this pack a punch.

I looked it up, and Brent - they use Templeton barrels. :D ;)

Tried 2 new beers this weekend, and had one that I tried previously but forgot how tasty it was. The 2 new ones are from Castle Danger Brewery, in Two Harbors, Minnesota. I tried their lager, and their stout. Both were pretty dang good. I liked the stout better, but the lager was very good also. Also had a Fitger's Apricot Wheat, which I had tried before, but I didn't remember how good this was. It is very refreshing. I was skeptical about the apricots at first, but they add alot to the beer. It isn't too far different from Shiner Cheer, which is another apricot flavored beer.
