Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Well, I finally managed to fail in a completely new and remarkable way.

I managed to screw up a batch of Mr. Beer.

*sigh*

The beer itself isn't necessarily bad (I think it tastes pretty decent for being an out-of-the-box easy kind of kit for a light lager), but I did manage to screw up the secondary fermentation stage and the whole batch is pretty flat.

How long has it been bottle conditioning? Time sometimes cures...

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Two weeks at this point.

I would give it time. I am a relatively new to the whole homebrewing game but out of the five batches I have bottled so far, I would say three of them took at least 3-4 weeks to carb and continued to improve in flavor 2-3 months down the line.

I am sure others on here have more experience given the F5 pictures I have seen so they may have more insight.

If brewing ever gets you down...read this thread. It makes me feel like less of a failure and punches patience right into my face :)

^Reading some of the posters screw ups...it seems like an accomplishment to have beer free of glass shards ;)

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

The main brewers at the F5 are not on here. They are only on GopherPuckLive.

Ahh I see. No way in hell I would venture to a place like that ;) Either way, given my small amount of experience, I would be willing to bet there are others lurking around here who know more :)

After an exhausting day of yardwork, I'm enjoying a Third Shift Amber Lager. I'd seen tons of commercials for the stuff, and it piqued my curiosity enough for me to buy a 6 pack. Pretty dang tasty beer, in my opinion. I'll probably be buying it again.

I was wondering about that beer. Good to know it's worth having.

Bought some Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout this weekend, too. I've had it on tap in CO, and I will say that the bottle version delivers. And yes, you really should pour it like in the video I posted earlier. Out of habit I poured it like a regular beer at first, and you can indeed taste the difference.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

In Missouri for work. Met a college buddy for dinner in St. Charles. Had a Pecan Brown Ale from Ferguson Brewing Co. Very good stuff.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

So, what am I missing with the nitro? I mean, how is it that they are able to rifle it into a glass without it turning into a sloppy mess on the table? Obviously it has to do with the nitrogen, but I thought that nitro beers didn't do well in individual servings not directly from a nitro tap?

[insert some sort of scientific explanation that probably only really geeky people like Chris Kluwe understand]

*shrug* I dunno. Tastes darn good, though.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I'm one of those people dammit.

All I know is that if you get a nitro on tap (especially if you put it in a growler), you need to start drinking it yesterday.

I'd GUESS that it's like the widget that Guinness had for years, except no widget.

This made me very happy.

Had my first Double Trouble of the year from Founders tonight during the Red Wing game. IIPA lovers, grab it while you can. Well worth it.

Oh come on, if that doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what would.

While I actually LIKE the song....that fad.....hate. Hate so much. It's rare I hate a viral meme/fad/etc, but that one.....good Parise.

Edit: but I must say.....well played.
