Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Tried a few more...Mariestads (sp) was kind of blah, Morks Dark Lager was excellent, and then I tried some kind of Swedish hard pear cider which was pretty tasty.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Tried a Celsius Summer Ale (Baxter Brewing out of Lewiston ME). On tap @ Campfire Grill in Bridgton ME. Nice, refreshing summer brew, hint of lemon, not overpowering. I'll have this again this summer (okay, probably more than once).

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Canadian Club Classic 12 is a pleasant surprise. A sweeter and smoother whiskey like most Canadian blends are, but with more flavor than is typical. It's a few bucks cheaper than Crown, too.

I agree. Definitely has that thin, sweet, Canadian style; but for the money pretty nice. Great for mixing.

Tonight I'm trying something I read about -- a Tequila old-fashioned. I happened to see agave syrup at the grocery store, and it reminded me of the article, so I thought, "Why not?" It's pretty interesting. Not an every day thing, but if you were at a fancy craft bar, worth a try.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Update on the tequila old-fashioned:

Last night's drink, while interesting, was too sweet. When an old-fashioned is that sweet (and has enough bitters in it) it always tastes too weirdly like iced tea. So tonight I cut the agave syrup way back -- only 1/2 a tsp. Still on the sweet side, but a big improvement.

Two weekends in a row that I've gone with KBC. You may not have much of a hockey team, but you Yoopers know how to make a beer.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I think the last sixer of Lift Bridge Brown I had was the best KBC ever. Nice distinct, chocolatey taste. Can't wait to try November Gale PA whenever it arrives downstate. KBC has never made a pale I've liked, so if that's at least decent, then they've finally hit their stride.

Jebus, don't order the house ale at The Lodge in Robbinsdale. Just terrible.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I had the one in the orange can (widowmaker?) at the F5 tailgate last year. I wasn't impressed. Pretty run of the mill beer.

Nope, this one:

Also, a huge thank you to Delta Airlines for providing me with an unlimited supply of complimentary Woodford Reserve and a glass tumbler on my flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. I wasn't even in business class :)

A repost from my FB page...

Another reason summer rules: my favorite wheat beer is in season! My personalized six pack I bought: Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen, Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer, New Belgium Somersault, Big Sky Brewing Trout Slayer Wheat Ale, Grand Teton Brewing Co Howling Wolf Weisse Beir, and 312 Urban Wheat Ale. It shall be good.

You very likely would have liked Town Hall's Apricot Wheat. Was ok at first, but excellent by the end of the glass.
