Beer choices for me this weekend were Miller Lite, Bud Light, and Leinie's Summer Shandy...at least it was free.

Hm, I guess I'm the DD.

That's what I would have said. Or I would have been smart enough to pack a flask....

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I tried "Wild Blue" Blueberry Lager. 8% ABV. It drinks like a cider--all fruit flavor, no real "beer" taste. Refreshing at first, but after a while the sweetness gets to you.

It's been a while since me and some buddies would get a sixer and split it, but we would also put in some fresh blueberries in the bottle as well. But yes, the sweetness does catch up quick, but at 8%, it packs a decent punch.

Shandy isn't too bad.

Agreed. 2 would be my cut off, both for sweetness and for said punch.

My selections were Coors Light, Miller Lite, PBR and Mikes Hard Lemonade, but it was at a tailgate, and it was fun, so I didn't mind. I also had a Summer Shandy at the game, I can have one of them, but more then that and it gets sickening.

My rules for Summer Shandy:

1. Must be at the lake
2. Must be at least 90 and sunny
3. Must have had less than three in the last calendar year

Try a witbeir or a saison. IMO they are a good mid-range and perfect for summer.
Next time I want beer, I will check that out. Meanwhile, I will finish what Oarsman I have left, and that will be the end of that beer at this house.

I can't stand Premium. I had two roommates in college that practically bathed in it and just its odor can make me bolt for the door.

Ok, so there's a story behind it. That is acceptable.

SB: try Hoegaarden or Lift Bridge Saison. Both quality.

Canadian Club Classic 12 is a pleasant surprise. A sweeter and smoother whiskey like most Canadian blends are, but with more flavor than is typical. It's a few bucks cheaper than Crown, too.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

I tried a local beer here last night, since it was only one that was on tap. It was called Norrlands Guld, and it was quite tasty. If it was available back home, I'd probably drink the stuff regularly...

First time having Newcastle Founder's Ale. Kind of tastes like a macro summer with hops. Not bad and will probably revisit.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Blue Moon's Vintage Blonde Ale brewed with chardonnay grapes. Awesome.
