*, I was gonna call them and see where they distribute to. Anyone else beat me to the punch?

I thought WPoS (GPL) said they were in St, Clooud only right now. I can't see them staying just there. I bet it expands as the distributor spreads the word about a new beer.

Wouldn't be surprised to see them in the far-north metro either. Maybe G-Will might have it, and they're only a mile past Pov's!

Just stop in and ask your favorite liquor store*. Most are more than willing to try and get the beer if requested.

*=Needs to have a pretty good selection in the first place. I wouldn't go to a chain store like MGM and try this.

Pretty much. There are a couple stores around here that might get it. Haskell's even might, despite their chain status. They've aggressively been expanding their beer selection, at least the Hopkins/'tonka location off of 394.

There are three stores I'd trust to look:

Top Ten in Woodbury
Northgate in Blaine
Top Valu in Columbia Heights

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Four Firkins in St Louis Park is good, I heard for craft beers. I still need to check it out.

I've had decent luck at Eagle Liquors in Lino, but I'm not up that way much anymore. Maybe the store across the street will have it though.

They're supposed to mostly be Belgians and other weird stuff. Don't know if KBC would meet their snob test ;), though I should still see what's there.

Northgate in Blaine didn't have it yet. I asked one of the people working there and they didn't know when they'd have it. If Northgate doesn't have it yet, I'd doubt Top Valu would. I've always thought Northgate's beer selection was much better than Top Valu's.

The following is so much win:

Bowmore 12, Glengoyne 17, Auchentoshen 18, and Auchentoshen 7 scotches. Thanks to bbdl, we had a nice tasting tonight.

IMO, the Bowmore blew the rest away.

Honkers Ale is good, but I'm still disappointed that Goose Island is basically the Midwest version of Boston Beer Co. (Sam Adams) now.

Founders All Day IPA is pretty good. At only 4.7% ABV, it lives up to its name, but while it's decently hoppy, I don't think it's hoppy enough to call it a true IPA.

NB Belgo >>>>>>>>>>>> NB Dig.

Tried Summit Red for the first time in years. I actually enjoyed it more than I recall I did the last time.

SN Bigfoot Barleywine is divine.

Also have enjoyed the Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, Oatmeal Stout and Lucky U IPA.

Re: Official Drinking Thread: 7&7s for Everyone!

Didn't feel like paying out the arse for beer tonight. 15-pack of Labatt Blue was on sale for $9.99. I guess I'm remembering my roots?

Had some of that Oatmeal tonight. Best of their beers, easily. The rest of theirs are simply above average.

Fade: remembering your roots. The reason I have Budweiser and Mich Golden Light once in a while. ;)

Have been enjoying what I've termed an "Almond Joy": 1 shot kahlua or Godiva chocolate liquor, 1 shot amaretto, 2-3 ice cubes, cold milk, drizzle with a thin cross hatch of chocolate syrup.

Nice! I've had a Toasted Almond before, but there wasn't that drizzle of syrup on top. Brilliant, lass!

For the record I probably didnt nede the 2nd glass of ElijahCraig tongh3t.

KBC Alert:

1st Grant Liquors, Grand Ave., St. Paul, MN. When I got my sixer of Scotch Ale, it was $6.99.

(They only have the Scotch and the Widowmaker, but they were willing to order the Blonde and the Amber too.)
