Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

They hid a bunch of extras upstairs in the Guest Services booth, I had to ask them to get one. It was ridiculous. Of course, I did see several people take more than 4 when they were set out on tables. That will dent the supply more quickly. Can't replace the handing out one-by-one method it seems. Of course, that only works with a slow steady flow of people such as when they arrive, and doing it then for posters means lots of wrinkled posters by the end of the game.

No easy way to do it except print tons of extras.

how about giving everyone one when they enter the turnstile coming in? is that simple enough?

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

Well, as I said, you'd end up with a lot of wrinkled posters by 9:30pm. :(

if you don't give a **** and throw it around. or fold it up. course you wouldn't take 20 either.

not to mention wrinkled >>> none.

I didn't take very long at all getting from my seat to the lobby and there was nothing by that time. Pretty poor planning and execution, unsurprising.

as far as i know, they never were in the lobby. there mightve been some on a table by the entrance with the jack kelley trophy, but the majority that i saw were at guest services. complete failure by agganis on this one.

there was a table right against the outer exit on the ticket office side. people were grabbing 10-20 and walking out the door with them. there was a line (kinda) across the lobby forming from peeps walking down the jack Kelley steps.

i talked with a woman who grabbed a couple for herself in the club room (so there were some there  ).

but the one table in the main lobby was supposed to supply the masses.

typical bu/mike lynch bull ****.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

really they took 10-20? what could you possibly use that many for?

i saw one *** selling one to another student on the sidewalk as he held a bunch. i remembered i had my 10 y/o and shouldn't spend the night in jail after slugging the ***. i still am 50/50 on whether i made a mistake or not suppressing my initial desire.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

at the least you should contact agganis on tuesday and complain and tell them what happened. i know of quite a few people who didnt get any. that student must've been a complete tool - they gave the posters out at splash.

everyone who **** near got to the table took more than one. so whether it was someone who took 20, or someone who took 3 - the distribution was done poorly.

what the hell would anyone at haa care? have you ever talked to anyone there that gave a chit?? i've complained about a number of things, and there is very little in the way of customer service available.

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I made it to the table with my 9 year old. There was one stack left about 4 inches high and people were taking whatever they could grab. I kept trying to take only one and as a result they kept getting ripped from my hand. I left empty handed, but my buddy felt bad for my kid and gave her the one he had for himself.

I dunno. I guess if we can't all act like adults, it's our collective loss. Probably not HAA's responsibility to monitor us.

Yikes. There is a lot of anger on this thread. Come on people, we just raised five banners! :)

Until we utter a swear word or try to reason with security guards.

I am very happy about the five banners and the team's accomplishments but I think at this point I would be more happy with actual improvements to Agganis. It gets a bit ridiculous when you are not surprised when arena management or the athletics department screws up. We have one of the nicer facilities in hockey yet how often to we talk about how good it is?

Re: Official Boston University 2009-2010 Pre-season thread - Let the banners rise!

I'm a guy who loves a decent hot dog at a game. HAA has deprived me of that joy, so I'm depriving them of my cash this year.

I have two seats, usually take my wife or daughter. If the food quality was reasonable, I would happily spend roughly $30/game on food and drink. That's about $600/year that I won't spend. Instead, I'll try to get in to Boston early and grab something at Anna's or similar.

I wonder how many fans spend less because the quality is so poor. And I wonder if that has ever occurred to HAA.

I'm really not sure if the sample size is large enough, as it has only been two exhibition games, but security in the 118 area is much improved over last year, so well done so far HAA on that front.

Also, at least at the beginning of the semester, those posters were sitting on a table in the Athletics 2nd floor lobby (across Babcock from the WBA entrance), but I'm not sure those are still there or if the supply is gone, so if you're in the area and want a poster I'd recommend stopping by telling the story of the poster distribution to someone there (everyone there is closer to the decision makers than a guest services representative at the game) and seeing if they have any remaining for you.

Unbelievable what people do when free stuff is in their grasp...

As Jerry Seinfeld once so brilliantly put it: "People, they're the worst."

This.

The posters were big and on a thicker paper stock than the schedule poster. They were difficult to grab one or two and roll. I'm thinking they waited on the distribution till after the game was over because they wanted people to stay for the game and not come for the banner raising and leave. That said, they should have had a better distribution process. Sounds like they just left them on the tables instead of having staff hand them out like they do when they give away tshirts and towels.

So, now that the offseason is over, it's time for the regular season thread!

Wilson skates for Nashville tonight.

Just a few comments on the d-men in Saturday's game:
--Nicastro looked strong at both ends. Good vision on PP
--Escobedo made at least three strong d-zone plays. He and Gryba have the makings of a shutdown pairing.
--Remember when everyone cringed every time Gryba tried to carry the puck? Boy have times changed.
--I think we're gonna enjoy watching Warsofsky channel Matt Gilroy with frequent forrays into the offensive zone.

I agree, I love a good hot dog at a game too.... too bad that can't be found at Agganis. Funny story... my 3 1/2 year old (who loves hot dogs) was all excited to get a hot dog at the game. Upon taking one bite, he handed it back to me with the comment "Daddy this tastes weird".

Unfortunatley, based on the lines between periods etc, my guess is that they don't lose much business. They have a monopoly while at the game after all.

I would definitely eat at the arena more often if the food quality was better though, and skip going to Sunset or Qdoba etc pre or post game.

When I do eat there, I usually go for the chicken fingers.(How hard is it to screw up deep fried chicken fingers and fries?

Did anyone notice the pizza was different this year?
