Being 2nd in the West, makes them 17th best in TSN power rankings. Apparently they are basing it on something other than winning.

Well, I don't think they have really put it together yet. Still an inconsistent effort overall. Ridiculously sick goaltending is hiding a few issues. I honestly don't feel that they are really the second best team in the conference.

17th seems silly though. Not even good enough for the playoffs if the season ended now? Odd.

With the shots 26-6 near the end of the 2nd period in CAR @ MTL, you have to wonder how much longer Paul Maurice will be coaching the Hurricanes.

I think it's like 32-12 now at the end of 2. Still, how do you only put up 12 shots on a defense with only guy dressed that's played more than 100 games?

The Wild defensemen for tomorrows game will be: Schultz, Stoner, Spurgeon, Falk, Prosser, and Fredheim. Wow, that is scary young.

They're 16th in ESPN's rankings as well.

It's a long season, but if this young defensive core can continue to exceed expectations, we could be in for a fun ride this winter!

If they finish close to .500 it would be considered huge success compared to the other teams that are in this town.

Having finally served his suspension from the preseason after getting called up, Brendan Smith makes his NHL debut tonight against SJ. Expected to be paired with Kronwall and play on the first PP unit with Lidstrom.
