Re: Official 2011-2012 NHL Season Thread: 2 Sedins, No Cup!

Waaaah, waaaah, waaaah! There was nothing wrong with that hit. It happens every game. Miller's just a softie who, despite playing for Buffalo, can't handle losing. You think he'd be used to it by now.

I hope this doesn't start a precedent of holding a hearing every time someone dives against Boston.

Yeah. Miller was diagnosed with a concussion two hours before you posted this. But you're just a stereotypical Boston ********* fan who's going on a favorite's list so when Scarlet wonders why people hate her teams, we can just point at you.

If he had a concussion and kept playing anyway, the Sabres should fire the medical staff who cleared him.

No suspension/fine for Lucic. Justice.

First off, that guy's a BC fan who hates BU and I was wondering how he managed to not blame Jack Parker for Lucic's hit on Miller so feel free to ***** about him all you want. And second, I don't wonder why people hate Boston teams. I know why people hate Boston teams. It bothers me because every team in every city has their own TimP and it's posters like you that don't seem to get that. Or choose not to because it's easier to strike back at posters/fans like this. You tend to paint all fans of Boston teams with the same brush when you know we aren't all like that. THAT'S what bothers me.

This. That hit happened in the first period. He played all through the second.

I honestly think Miller is worried for his starting spot with the way Enroth has been playing. He's hearing the media and some people wanting to trade him so he's trying to do too much out there.

They were totally praising Enroth during the telecast, saying he's doing what a back up should do, come in and win games. I can see why he might be worried.

Holy crap! I don't give a **** about either team, but I just watched the video. How the hell did that not deserve a suspension and fine? I agree with Miller that Lucic was a piece of **** for that hit.

It wasn't a suspension warranted hit. Can anyone cite a rule that makes goalies untouchable outside of the crease and not behind the net? If a goalie comes out to play the puck I would think he is fair game to be in play. If Im wrong, then Im wrong. Protecting goalies is as bad as protecting QBs in the NFL.

Also, if a trainer on Buffalo can't notice a concussion after the hit in talking to Miller, then Buffalo has more issues at hand.

He no longer had the puck, I think it's called interference in the NHL, it also looked dam high to me in that vid.

You're wrong. The goalie is never fair game.

<a href="http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26331">Rule 42: Charging</a>:

A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.

I find it interesting that because the penalty was called, the referee did not feel the contact was just incidental. Shanahan said that was the correct call. But then he claims there was no intent. So it wasn't incidental, but there was no intent? That must be a teeny tiny gray area. In an age where the NHL likes to claim to protect its players, it's an interesting non-suspension to say the least. I would think the NHL would want to err on the side of caution to prevent further similar injuries, especially to goalies, who are supposed to be protected more than skaters.

Well, label me old school I guess.

What does that have to do with the medical staff clearing him to play? If he has a concussion, he should have been pulled from the game and sent to the Quiet Room. If he plays then says he has a concussion, something is very wrong. Either he doesn't have a concussion and is lying about it to try to get Lucic suspended, or the medical staff let him stay in net even though he has a concussion. Can't have it both ways.
And if he had a concussion but said to the doctor, "I have to stay in this game because I'm battling for playing time" and the doc went along with it, he needs to be sent packing.

Holy crap! I don't give a **** about either team, but I just watched the video. How the hell did that not deserve a suspension and fine? I agree with Miller that Lucic was a piece of **** for that hit.

Maybe the GK's in the NHL should start wearing skirts like their brethren QB's in the NFL.

Thomas gets rolled by Subban like that and you would all be going bananas.

Re: Official 2011-2012 NHL Season Thread: 2 Sedins, No Cup!

if you think goalies are not proteced more by the refs than other players, then you must be new to this.

And the ref called a penalty, right?

Of course goalies are more protected than other players. Who is questioning that? But if you think Lucic's hit warranted a suspension and a fine, then let's just tell forwards they aren't allowed within five feet of the crease so the GK will never be touched.
