Kyle Turris is holding out in PHX because he wants to be traded. Not about money, playing time, whatever, he just flat out wants a trade.

Somehow I missed enabling that feature when I played EA NHL Slapshot (Wii)'s Peewee-to-Pro mode. I was drafted by the Coyotes and I suffered through my restricted free agent deal with PHX before signing elsewhere, why can't Turris? :D

(Mind you, EA has you just complete the three year entry contract before you're a free agent, but whatever...)

Subban and Marchand try THREE times to drop the gloves, both getting Holding and Delay of Game penalties before finally getting to fight.

It appears that Winnipeg and Philly have opted for some pond hockey tonight.

EDIT: And right as I post that, Philly ties it up at 8. This is just comical.

Leafs spoil the Rangers home opener. Mike Brown with 2/3 of the Gordie Howe hat trick - just needed an assist.

Whoa whoa whoa. Arena League is acceptable football, only because of the way the rules are structured for maximum offense (no stunting by the defense, not 11 players on a side, etc).

Had you said NFL with stricter BS rules like the defenseless receiver rule, you would be correct.;)

I think the occassional 9-8 hockey game can be a good time. I don't want that to be a common score though.

Reminds me of that SCSU/MN Final Five game of course.

I will have to rewatch the Jets/Flyers game via GameCenter since i was watching the World Series last night instead.

That was apparently the highest-scoring NHL game in 15 years.

Van Riemsdyk banged in a Timonen pass to tie the game at 8-8 at 16:21, but one final breakdown allowed the Jets to take the victory in the highest scoring game since the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins combined for 18 goals on Jan. 13, 1996, a 10-8 win by the Sharks in Pittsburgh.

So I guess I need to filter through the schedule and check the Saturday night games that are on both NHLN and CBC. Have they not had one on yet? Looks like tomorrow might be the first one.

So far they seem to only be showing the HNIC pre-game show, then cutting to a US based game. Got tricked a few times into hoping for the HNIC double header only to have it flip to a lame matchup for a single game and On the Fly afterwards.


I miss the CBC doubleheaders. :( Get out of NMU games in time to watch the Canucks/Oilers/Flames on the late game. And then CBC would rebroadcast both games. Made Saturday nights in college awesome.
