Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

We'll see you guys Friday at 4:35.

Hope this game goes better than our last 4 against you.

Should be fun. A nice little rivalry heating up as we head toward the NCHC in a couple years. It will be good to have Western and MU represent the MAC/CCHA in the new league.

Crazy to think that, just 8 weeks ago, we were sweating out just getting a 4 seed. My how things have changed.

@MiamiIceHockey received word Fox Sports Ohio will pick up Miami's semifinal game.

Best news I could have possibly heard since I can't make it up to Detroit this year.

FS Ohio knows we have a hockey team? Impressive.

Anyone making the trip to the Joe this weekend?

Alas, not only will I not be making the trip for the first time in several years, but I won't even get to watch. Promised the girlfriend a hockey-free weekend away. Besides, the fact that they discontinued the Friday night open-bar party in the RenCenter really killed the atmosphere outside of the games themselves. At least subsidize it... students/young alumni aren't going to pay $5+ for a bottle of Bud Light, but I'm sure $2 would be a different story.

However, if the team gets placed in Worcester or Bridgeport, I'll be there. And if, come April, we (fingers-crossed) find the RedHawks flying south to Tampa, I'll probably suck it up and make the trip there, as well.

First, let's hold on to the Mason Cup!

Tell the woman plans have changed, weekend away, in Detroit!

Haha if I could get back the $300 I paid for this weekend's getaway, I probably would drag her up there... I'll just have to plan to be there next year for the final CCHA Championship and Miami's 3rd consecutive Mason Cup.

I may have to use the "but detroit st pats sounds so much better than cinci" bit, only downfall is having to be back early sunday for meetings for work.

Detroits' St. Pat's parade is always the Sunday before St. Patrick's Day, therefore it was last weekend. Of course there will still be a lot of festivities going on over the weekend.

Good luck to your team, wow have you turned it around this year! I'm leaning towards making you a favorite to win the NC.

Re: Official 2011-2012 Miami Season Thread Part II: (OH) Yeah!

I think I would be satisfied this weekend if Connor kept up his month-long tradition of not allowing even strength goals.

Anyone here think Reilly Smith got robbed of CCHA Player of the Year?

Hahahahahahhaa. What a joke. He got puck luck to even record the only Spartan goal the past weekend. a 1 goal, -3 performance really makes a player of the year.

Anastos Bias

The tribes go forth to war,
Their scalp songs ring afar;
Bright the blood-red camp fires gleaming,
Mad with thrist the war-hawks screaming,
Signal smoke soars high,
Beckons in the sky,
Old men shake their calabashes,
Warriors dance amid the ashes,
Maides sobbing, war-drums throbbing, WAR!

Sweet the vict'ry and the conquest,
Calm the rest among the slain;
Sons of centuries of heroes,
Seek the fruit, despise the pain.
Watch Miami, now,
See the BRONCOS bow,
Far and wide their host is scattered,
Spears are broken, shields are battered;
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Miami! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh! Yuh!
Race them, chase them, pound them, Wow!
