Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Just wanted to let everyone know that Ryan Jones was in the capital tonight with his Edmonton Oilers. Playing pretty well, though my Caps are up 2-0 in the 2nd. I am happy to report that Jones is back to his old ways of impersonating Sampson.

Yeah, I've caught a few recent Oil games. His hair is LONG and he's donating it again.

BU's loss to Northeastern tonight has moved us up into a tie for 8th in the PairWise.

What that result actually did was make a wrong a right. We owned the comparison over Merrimack but were a spot behind them until that result, so now because of that we got our rightful place back.

I went to the game pretty much to see Ryan Jones. I thought about wearing my Miami jersey but ended up in my John Carlson #74.

Jonesy's penalty in the 2nd led to the Caps power play goal, so I guess that was bittersweet for this Miami/Caps fan.

I've always said that I would root for miami grads to do well. If they played against my teams, they can do just well enuff to still let my team win.

Then there was Ben....I. just root against him all the time.

Was looking like Jonsey was going to have the only goal in a 1-0 loss for the wings tonight, heck of a Detroit bounce to tie it up with 20 seconds left.

Great news, now tied with Michigan for 4th in the PWR.

Bad news, Frattin is keeping up his crazy pace of scoring like crazy against the worst competition he plays, so I'd say he's got the edge in the Hobey now. Unless of course the committee takes into account Frattin's lack of production against the big boys, and him having the DUI/Lawnmower/Kicked off team incidents. Seems like a character individual.

Pretty sure I could score against Tech. Keep up the Miele for Hobey rhetoric. 20-42-62 in 35 games.

Anyone know about what happened to Tomassoni's shoulder. Looked like his arm was sagging when he was heading to the bench and was probably dislocated. Hoping for the best he is a beat on the penalty kill.

Hopefully we can finish off the Nanooks tomorrow night and move on to Detroit.

They tried to get him that empty net shorty at the end tonight haha. I'm sure he'll get some more tomorrow.

IIRC he took a bad spill into the boards but its always hard to tell with ONN's crack camerawork.

Frattin with 11 points in 3 games against tech is pretty obnoxious. Hopefully Andy comes out with a big night tomorrow to sure things up.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Where are you guys getting your pairwise numbers? i keep getting lower placings from Collegehockeynews.com. They have us @ 6 after tonight.

Also, does Miami put themselves at a disadvantage in the PWR in playing fewer games in the regular season? It seems to hurt the RPI by having up to 3 fewer games than Ndak. Then again, if you win 78% of your games (yale and BC), i'm not sure that it matters a great deal.

since we're catching up on alums, does anyone get down to watch KR on the cyclones?

Miami was tied for 4th in pairwise while the Denver game was still in progress, after Denver won they regained their pairing against us so we dropped back down to 6th.

We have two less games because we did not travel to Fairbanks this year. So, we played just 34 in the regular season rather than 36. I don't think it's that big a deal. North Dakota is the least of our concerns in terms of the PWR.

Miele took care of business with 3 points tonight, Frattin ended up with just an ENG. Regardless of who we end up playing sure we'll be the 4:30 game at the Joe. Getting pumped up, Love & Honor

Typically the 2-3 game is the late game to give the #1 seed more time to recover. That said, because the #1 is Michigan FSN Detroit, may want them to play the late game for tee vee. Was that your thought as well?

Yeah, seeing as Michigan will probably bring more fans then Miami, FSU/WMU, and ND/LSSU combined it would make sense for them to have the primetime game, get more families in the building, as well as TV. Would make my groups travel plans a whole lot easier if we ended up being the late game so no objections here if that happened.

Edit: Just looked and there is actually a Pistons game Friday night so TV might not factor into it, unless they are throwing hockey on FSD+

FSD+ is actually carrying all three games at the Joe. I've just been assuming we'll play the early game but it would be much easier if we got the late one. However, as long as we're at the Joe I can't complain!

EDIT: And by three games, I mean both semifinal games and the championship game.

Yup. The CCHA bracket on the site is showing that all three games will be on FSD+
