Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Anyone know about what happened to Tomassoni's shoulder. Looked like his arm was sagging when he was heading to the bench and was probably dislocated. Hoping for the best he is a beat on the penalty kill.

Hopefully we can finish off the Nanooks tomorrow night and move on to Detroit.

Just a bruised shoulder, saw him at the rink getting some treatment, nothing broken which is good. Nasty hit he took, but clean.

Where are you guys getting your pairwise numbers? i keep getting lower placings from Collegehockeynews.com. They have us @ 6 after tonight.

Also, does Miami put themselves at a disadvantage in the PWR in playing fewer games in the regular season? It seems to hurt the RPI by having up to 3 fewer games than Ndak. Then again, if you win 78% of your games (yale and BC), i'm not sure that it matters a great deal.

since we're catching up on alums, does anyone get down to watch KR on the cyclones?

Miami was tied for 4th in pairwise while the Denver game was still in progress, after Denver won they regained their pairing against us so we dropped back down to 6th.

Not sure where you guys are looking but Miami is tied for 4th in the PWR with michigan. Really glad we didn't get the "easy" road as the two wins against fairbanks were really big for our ranking as predicted. Outcomes today could certainly have an impact, not a huge one but a slight one depending how the dominos fall. But if Miami plays Michigan for the CCHA title it will be for a #1 seed in St. Louis.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Time for us to go and beat Notre Dame again. (Seniors are 7-2-2 against ND, including a win at the Joe).

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

CHN showing the Miami/ND game in the late slot, but I see nothing on the CCHA site about it yet so I wouldn't bet on it yet.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

From the Miami Ice Hockey Twitter:

Miami will face Notre Dame in the CCHA semifinals Friday at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Puck drop is at 4:35 p.m. See you at the Joe!

Not sure how many of you follow this blog, but it's get a great breakdown of scoring difference between Miele and Frattin:

http://muredhawkshockey.blogspot.com/

I found it a pretty good read.....as always.
I don't mean to group all Miami fans in this, but ...

No offense, but I think it's kind of petty to discredit a guy to make your guy (Miele, obviously) look better. Which is what I feel some are doing. For as so many of you guys that feel Miele is a lock for the Hobey, you sure do go out of your way to keep tabs on Fratts and what he is doing. I guess my opinion is that instead of doing all this research and justification about why Matt shouldn't get it, you guys should be promoting why Miele should. I'm not going to spout out that strength of schedule crap in support of Matt, or any of that other stuff other Sioux fans will, because I don't need that to formulate an opinion. Both guys are great players and both would be deserving winners (though I'm sure some of you will continue to rail on Frattin for his past, but whatever. I'm not a judgmental person). Both fanbases would rather have the national championship than the Hobey anyways.

I don't think Miele is a lock for the Hobey at all, which is why I'm usually keeping track of the competition (aka Frattin).

That being said, the online Miami fan base is a very very very small community. Nearly all of the posters on this board also post on the main Miami sports message board where a certain sioux fan has been bringing up the SOS, goals > assists arguments any time we have a conversation about why we believe Miele is deserving. Consequently, most of the blog posts and things you see on this thread are spill over from what is going on with our other board.

I agree that it looks bad, but you are really only seeing the reactionary portion of the conversation on this forum.

If you really read the article, the case for Miele is there. He performs his best against good competition. His chief competition for the award does not. That's all we're trying to say in response to quite a few fans who say he's racked up points against lesser competition which is simply not true.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Anyone check out the latest Bracketology? Or is everyone just too psyched up about the Semi's this weekend? This is not a bracket that I would support. You have 1 group that's way too easy (Yale), 2 groups that are pretty tough (Michigan & UND), and 1 group that is brutal IMO (BC)...way too unbalanced IMO. Lots of hockey to go though, to avoid this scenario. There is also the sitch-e-ation in which Miami can play itself into a #_ seed (can't bring myself to say it even if I knock on wood).

Also, does anyone know if Miami will have any video link to FSD? Seeing as I'm way out in DC, I don't get that channel. I'm supposing i'm gonna have to search out a bar that carries it.

Doubtful, but your Miami All-Access package will have audio from Mr. Waddell. I would suggest going to a bar, but that's day #2 of the basketball tourney so getting cooperation to get college hockey on will be challenging at best.

muredhawks.com is not currently showing what "media" they'll broadcast for the game so maybe they're still figuring out the video thing. That would be sweet, however, if they do video plus Waddell.

Are you seriously going to come on here and harp on someone for posting on a Miami hockey blog about the nations leading scorer from our school?

Funny thing is he wasn't the first to do it. When No Dak fans were making a fuss on Inch's chat a few weeks back they decided to break down the points themselves and show that he has feasted on the worst teams in the conf. not the superior teams. He just took that information that was posted on a national website subjectively and put it on Miami's hockey blog. Stats don't lie, no one is saying frattin isn't a good player but He has 54 pts. I think 11 or 13 of them came in the last two weekends against one of the worst teams in the country. He is still 11 pts behind Miele who has spread his pts out equally. The strength of schedule argument is crap. If I were you I would go to www.insidecollegehockey.com and read it for yourself instead of coming here to complain. They broke it down for each player and proves the point not us.

Does anyone know if Tomassoni's shoulder is going to keep him out Friday?

I heard it wasn't too serious, but you never know. I did hear that Michigan will have Caporusso back so getting one of our top penalty killers back would be most helpful.

Re: Official 2010-2011 Miami season Thread: 3rd times a charm???

Media conference call quotes posted at ccha.com

Here are a few related to the Miami/ND game.

Miami Senior Captain Carter Camper
On odds with matching up with Notre Dame in the semifinals this Friday
We are excited to play Notre Dame again. We had a couple great weekends with them this year. They’re a great team. They work hard. They have lots of depth up front, great defense and a great goalie. So we are excited to have another opportunity to play Notre Dame this weekend.

Miami Head Coach Enrico Blasi
On the current state of his team and what he anticipates this coming weekend in Detroit
We are excited to obviously get to Detroit and play Notre Dame. We have had some real good battles this year. I think both teams are real evenly matched. They have a tremendous amount of skill up front. The games we have played against each other have gone down to the wire, all four of them. It should be an exciting game and a great challenge for our team and hopefully we can put on a good show for all the fans.

Notre Dame Head Coach Jeff Jackson
On team’s current state heading in the championship and what he expects with his matchup with Miami
We’re fortunate to be going back to Detroit after being eliminated last year in a tough series. It’s going to be fun to get back to Detroit and have an opportunity to play a great team. Miami is one of the top offensive teams in the country and certainly plays well without the puck too. It’s been four extremely good hockey games against the RedHawks. I am excited about it because they have been fun games to coach and I’m sure the players look at it from the same perspective. There have been a couple good defensive battles and there’s been some wide-open play too. It’s been a good matchup and both teams usually come out and play so I would expect it to be a great game.

day to day right now, he is getting treatment on it. Nothing is broken which is good, just a matter of strength and mobility.

He may be back but how effective??? Losing wohlberg hurts them worse if you ask me.

Definitely because Caporusso probably isn't 100% though he says he feels fine. If we face U-M, will be interesting to see how he does on back-to-back nights.

True, but he was non existant in oxford and has really been dissapointing all year. I know he can break out at anytime but Ill take my chances espcially coming off a knee injury. You can't skate and stamina will be an issue. Lets see Hagelin back up his big mouth calling out Miele...what a monkey.
