Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Can I make a suggestion? If you want to argue, be civil. Be polite. Be an adult. Treat people with respect and they will usually return the favor. If you don't want to be civil, just buy an empty chair and rail at it for a few hours to get it out of your system.

The same goes for the other side who throw the word "republican" like a McCarthy-era "hater" would throw the word "communist".

I've had this guy on Ignore for a year and he's still talking about me...

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

The only way the GOP plan works is if the economy starts moving again. In theory that would lead to more taxable income which would (in theory again) lead to higher tax revenues, even if you marginally lower the rates (while eliminating some deductions to make up for the lower rates).

But if the economy is stagnant, isn't the worse possible thing to do is to raise taxes and increase spending? Seems like we're screwed no matter who wins.

That is the rub though. Right now...the haves: the investment, creative, entreprenuer class is doing anywhere between well and great. Corporate earnings are largely good. The laborer, lesser incomes class is struggling with unemployment.

Will lower taxes and cutting spending definitely grow the economy? That's a heckava gamble. IMO the unemployment is structural as in we're losing mobile jobs overseas that will not likely return.

So first, I don't know that the GOP would in fact cut spending...they haven't so far. Then I don't know that cutting taxes is going to fix unemployment when it hasn't in the past...and this time it could be structural. But I'm pretty sure that cutting spending will reduce the size of the economy. Between fixing both unemployment and the deficit...I see no easy fix.

You sure you aren't Kepler's "retard" brother?
Yep...pretty sure.
Nice to know you ladies keep in touch with one another over my shortcomings.
Happy to let you know. It's unnecessary ultimately. Your shortcomings are readily apparent to most who read your constant canned non perishable daily hatred...and fascinating, relevant crime reports.

Collectively, you are all so prejudiced that it's hardly worth the time to say this (again) but I don't watch Fox and don't listen to Limbaugh. What others call stereotypes, you ladies call truth
In the spirit of questionable use of time and duplication (again) it's farcical, but a good laugh when you call others prejudiced. This is what I'm talking about. Every bit as laugh inducing as anything I've heard from FAUX News or Rush. Why sould you watch or listen to either? They should be reading your posts for material.

Instead of pointing to the other side and saying "they do it too," why not take the high ground? That line of reasoning didn't work for you in the third grade and it doesn't work now. You'll have no sympathy from this moderate, I hate all of you. ;)

I'll take it a step further by saying that I hate moderates too.

And get off my lawn!

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Its difficult to find room for info with all the blows, but one can try...

In what would be a huge gaffe (maybe just moderate with the chaos going on overseas), Romney says that nearly half of US citizens will vote for Obama no matter what because they believe they are entitled to US government handouts.

Not good.

Controversial private fund-raiser video shows candid Romney

Posted by
CNN Political Unit

(CNN) - Secretly recorded videos of Mitt Romney at a private fund-raiser emerged online Monday, quickly catching fire as material potentially damaging to the Republican presidential nominee.

In the footage, taped with a hidden camera, Romney argued nearly half of Americans will vote for President Barack Obama because they rely on government support, made apparent jokes about wishing he had Latino heritage, and talks about a Chinese factory his former firm purchased.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney says in one clip. "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them. Who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing."

Adding to his argument about entitlement, Romney said his "job is not to worry about those people."

"I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives," he added. "What I have to do is convince the 5% to 10% in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful."

Very not good!

Nice one, RMoney! Hopefully when I wake up tomorrow afternoon I find out that he bankrolled the video that got all our friends in teh Middle East all p***ed off.

I knew this election would be a cake walk for President Obama, but I never expected help from RMoney.

It appears the Romney 'half of Americans to vote for Obama cause they feel they're entitled to handouts' gaffe will be a major one.

Obama's odds of election jumped today...Intrade:

I don't think there's any chance it hurts his (nonexistent) chances of being elected. But, it could help him gain a few more states. A dose of honesty does him some good among the same crowd that agrees 100% with what he's saying and weren't going to vote for him because he wouldn't (previously) come out and say it. I know these people (or "bitter clingers", if you prefer). They were hoping he would show this kind of "straight talk" at some point before the election.

So it will do Romney more good than harm, but obviously not enough to affect Obama's reelection.

We may have an idea of the impact based on what happens to polls...but I don't know that I nor those many involved in Intrade betting would agree that this will improve Mitt's chance in any way.

What your're calling 'honesty' or really just 'directness' may turnout the handful of those in Utah, Texas and Arizona who weren't going to vote for him anyways. This will not play well with independents in Colorado, New Hampshire, Virginia and Ohio though...and that's where game, set, match will be determined.

I wish they would. I can use the money. And don't forget "racist" and "stupid." They're part of the set.

You're quite right. I look forward to your heartfelt posts criticizing the ladies of the chorale. Until then, I'll just blunder along.

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

SNL was impressively prophetic about Obama's secret weapon: Mitt's mouth.

Besides being "not elegantly stated," Romney's comments at the fundraiser were, like so many of his pronouncements and ads, factually flawed. Three Pinocchio's worth.

So naturally, Mitt doubled down.... as he did on McCain economy comments attributed to Obama, the welfare requirement lie, the robbing Medicare falsehood, the military cuts deception and the sympathizing with terrorists BS. The GOP's Great Prevaricator has made certain that his umpteen flip-flops on issues are no longer of interest to anyone.:D

I now feel that you're right, based on the coverage this is getting from most of the media. NPR ran three straight stories on this this morning, and they were positively gleeful. It was like a victory party for Obama in there. So yeah, this will probably bury Romney under 20% (along with his foreign policy stupidity, which was actually the bigger blunder IMO).

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

That video is going to have no impact whatsoever. Americans are inveterate liars and those voting for Romney will just convince themselves that they're not one of those "moochers" while picking up their Social Security check instead of being offended.

You're right, of course. But it's also telling that various "tax credits" are now widely considered to be "government social programs." What it means is that the government controlling your paycheck is now the natural state of things, and that whatever you get back from it after taxes is simply a favor to you by their benevolence. Silly!
