Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Yes Flag, we totally believe you when you say you're not a shill for the GOP. Just because all of your comments are anti-Dem/liberal in one form or another, yet your scorn of the conservatives/GOP is scant to non-existent (cue where he says he never liked GWB as proof of his non partisan nature) especially given their contribution to the nation's problems, but you're just an independent. Riiiiight....

Did you not just see the post I made regarding Romney's war on porn? How about the UIGEA? Also Reagan's bullying states into claiming "state laws" that truly are federal, such as the alcohol age?

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

One of the other telling facts is just how few people now self-ID as Republican. It's always "I oppose Obama but I'm not a Republican, I'm an (undecipherable evasion)." They refuse to accept responsibility for their past political decisions, and it's no wonder, since they all went so spectacularly wrong.

If this is actually true, it's a sign that all the polling out there is wrong since they always sample dems and reps.

I don't see how past decisions are any more spectacularly wrong than the last presidential election. Not a good track record for either party at the moment IMHO.

Now I can see why you guys consider everyone who is anti-Obama to be GOP, because all you see is "anti-Obama". I'm not going to deny that there are staunch anti-Obama people out there; I know a few. This is why I have been professing to have a positive reason to vote for someone. I had a positive reason in 2004 to vote for GWB, and I'm not going to deny it. Sure I went straight down the conservative row for 2008, but sadly I was under the impression that I had to go anti-Obama. I have regretted that vote ever since, because it wasn't who I really wanted, but rather the lessor of two evils. I know I've made it fairly clear that not only would I not wish to vote for Obama, but I wouldn't wish to vote for Romney, either. I am going to make a positive choice in Gary Johnson, as his candidacy is about restoring hard work, and the associated freedoms that result from it. I also intend to put my money where my mouth is, and I'm sure that's something you wouldn't expect of me.

Really hitting the important issues, aren't you? Porn & the legal drinking age. What are you, 16 years old?

Considering Romney and Johnson are a wash when it comes to economic issues, what better for a tie-breaker than social issues?

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

This is the definition of insanity.

No, no, no. Trying your socialist policies, which have already failed in Russia, and have once failed or are about to fail in Europe, is the definition of insanity. You're doing the exact same experiment while expecting a different result.

There's certainly a place where you and I don't see eye to eye. To me, the years prior to 2004 showed many landmines of the GW adiminstration including Iraq. And in 2008, due to the crisis the pro business side of me said the entire GOP needs to be purged. The good news is that much of it was...the bad news is that this GOP group to me seems a bit more social conservative ideologicalwise than the party of the 2000s.

I have regretted that vote ever since, because it wasn't who I really wanted, but rather the lessor of two evils. Assuming this is true, you may be a bigger man than I in regards to this.

Having said that...I likely will not fall into the GOP camp for sometime. Fox is a great mouthpiece for the message trying to be sold here. Oh yeah...BTW this is their front page news:

And miss out on all the unintentional comedy?

Too much anger. If the guy could leave out libtard this, fatass Michelle that, His "blahblah" this there have been compelling points to address. Perhaps once the election is over he'll calm down.

I'm not angry. I just don't suffer fools gladly. But thank you for the revue and for keeping such a close eye on my posts. Obsessively noting every "misstep." Johnson had Boswell and I've got you.

The rational among us don't suffer fools gladly either...we just suffer them. Hence the value of the ignore function.

Yeah...not angry at all...pfffft.

Quit threatening and DO it, sucker. Libstain prejudices and bigotry are so deeply ingrained it really is a waste of time to deny them. Once again, libstains talk a good game about repsecting the rights of others to express differing points of view. But that's all it is. Talk.

So you ladies in the chorale do your worst.

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

This Republican platform represents my ideological opposite: Fiscally liberal, socially conservative. This is the worst platform from either party I've seen since I was able to follow politics, (1992) and it's absolutely baffling.

The lies that they will curtail spending are unsupported by their backgrounds as spendthrifts. How will they increase defense spending yet spend less money and cut taxes? It's impossible: do they even know how to balance a checkbook? (Probably not.) I've already accepted my generation will not get a return on our social security and Medicare contributions. But I will not let this generation of politicians mortgage my future and my childrens' future by continuing to spend.

If the Republicans refuse to raise taxes on the people who can actually afford it, but want to increase spending, they will only destroy this country's economy.

There are no fiscal conservatives left, and it is a fallacy to state that one side is more fiscally conservative than the other. Except the Democrats seem keen to increase taxes, the Republicans are ignoring any attempt to balance the ledger. Spend, spend, spend us into oblivion.

I might vote for Obama simply because the thought of Mittens as President is just about the worst plan imaginable, but if I stick to my ideological guns: Gary Johnson.

The Republican party is sinking into the ocean like fair Atlantis. It is up to the economically conservative of us that are remaining to develop and grow a party to take over.

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

The only way the GOP plan works is if the economy starts moving again. In theory that would lead to more taxable income which would (in theory again) lead to higher tax revenues, even if you marginally lower the rates (while eliminating some deductions to make up for the lower rates).

But if the economy is stagnant, isn't the worse possible thing to do is to raise taxes and increase spending? Seems like we're screwed no matter who wins.

I wasn't making a threat, and didn't say I suffered his Royal Angrybigotedness. While I can understand others do. They've told me as much with emails and reps. When I don't have time to tune into...here it comes...FAUX News and Rush I get the condensed version from you and all the laughs I may have missed out on. You're the Readers Digest for the Whack-a-Doodle conservatards.

You sure you aren't Kepler's "retard" brother? Nice to know you ladies keep in touch with one another over my shortcomings. Collectively, you are all so prejudiced that it's hardly worth the time to say this (again) but I don't watch Fox and don't listen to Limbaugh. What others call stereotypes, you ladies call truth.

The worst possible thing to do would be to raise taxes and curtail spending. The time for austerity measures is when things are going well. The whole 7 years of feast and 7 years of famine thing from the Bible.

Can I make a suggestion? If you want to argue, be civil. Be polite. Be an adult. Treat people with respect and they will usually return the favor. If you don't want to be civil, just buy an empty chair and rail at it for a few hours to get it out of your system.

Re: Obama XXIV: Forward ... pause ... rewind ... play

Raising taxes won't help, because for half the Americans, we know what 28% of nothing is. This is problem with anything associated with government whatsoever: Have a problem? Throw more money at it! Need more money? Grab from the people who have it! How about we start looking at some reform that makes sense, we look at the ineffective spending, ineffective bans, ineffective policies, and fix those. Then, if we still can't balance the budget, we can start looking towards taxes.
