Well it's cetainly true that there was about a decade's worth of intolerable depredations against Jews. I was thinking of the Wanneee Conference in January, 1942, as the time and place where the Holocaust got the green light. They had already killed tens of thousands (perhaps hundreds of thousands) of Jews, but hadn't yet worked out the malevalent details of total genocide. Certainly that film we've all seen (and I've posted) where Hitler says to the Reichstag in January of '39 (paraphrasing) "If the Jews succeed in plunging Europe into a war, it will be the end of the Jewish race in Europe," is chilling beyond measure.

Any action Israel takes against Iran will be blamed on us. And any Israeli action which falls short of destroying their nuclear facilities will open the door for a potentially much larger conflict and a tsunami of terrorist activity against us. Taking out those facilities might, emphasize might, result in a collapse of that regime. IMO, the regime was teetering on the edge of collapsing and we did nothing. That may turn out to be an enormous mistake. No easy answer here, for sure.

Some myths die harder than others. If "W" was so stupid, what does that make Senator Botox, whose SAT scores and grades at Yale were worse? And if Obama is so smart, why won't he release his transcripts?

I was thinking of the sellout of Czechoslovakia in order to keep the peace. If somebody had said "No" to Germany in the 30's maybe we would have avoided WW-II. However the fear of the Red Menace pushed many Western Countries to support Anti-Communist Germany (shudder).

The Wannsee Protocol is a horror document to read. I remember the first time I read it (in a Herman Wouk book). I had to re read it 3 or 4 time to believe what I had read.

Yeah, those guys were big thinkers. They had in mind to kill 11 or 12 million or more. Reinhard Heydrich combined the lethal, psycopathic hatred of Jews with certain "skills" none of the other top Nazis had. If you made me choose who the worst Nazi was, I'd have to say Heydrich. Even worse than Himmler, who after all was a glorified clerk. Heydrich was the thinker. The idea man. The problem solver.

Yeah, the sellout of Czechoslovakia was certainly a step along the road to war. And a robust refusal to cave in to Hitler might not have emboldened him. But don't forget how tired and blooded Britain and France were by the Great War. Job one was to avoid another war. Unfortunately, they very nearly guaranteed what they most wanted to avoid. Because Hitler had "learned" the two great lessons of the first war: "Germany was stabbed in the back," and "The Jews were responsible." Plus, while Britain and France were concerned about dealing with domestic Communists, Hitler wasn't. He just liquidated them. Problem solved.

The sense I got at the time was, we were terrified of giving the regime a chance to blame the whole thing on us.

That's always the risk, of course. However, anything, anywhere will be blamed on US and the Isrealis who "call the shots." Or on the Israelis, acting on behalf of their American benefactors "who call the shots." This is a game we'll never win. But as I understand it, Iran is a very young country demographically and well educated, too. And it was possible, I emphasize possible, that with a little nudge the regime might collapse. And based on what we know now, the decision was taken essentially to do nothing. Of course we may learn much more about that episode when it's memoir time.

Sooner or later people are gong to die because of these "scamps," and we should do whatever's necessary to put 'em out of business and in prison, where they belong.

They nailed some of the biggest names in the "organization". Got arguably the most ardent and public supporter of Lulz and Anon to turn rat. You can bet all of the ones who were just arrested are going to squeal like pigs. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Anon is dead and they don't even know it yet.

the top 1% have another advantage. Many of them have unique skills that are difficult to replicate. Our top earners include entrepreneurs, rock stars, professional athletes, surgeons and lawyers. Also included are the managers of large international corporations and, yes, bankers and financiers. (Interestingly, the Occupy movement seldom criticizes athletes or rock stars.)

Paris Hilton would seem to be the exact opposite of a professional "athlete or rock star", or anyone with "unique skills difficult to duplicate." Right?
