Re: Obama XXIII: The Muslin Anti-Christ Wages War on the forces of Christianity!

Obama's a smart guy, but his problem is that he thinks he's really really smart, smarter than everyone else, and he isn't.
I think if you could get past this you might actually be able to evaluate Obama semi-rationally.

Obama strikes me as having a really healthy ego, sure -- same as Romney and Reagan and dozens of other guys who thought well enough of themselves to run for the presidency. He doesn't give off the "erp, shucks, gee whiz" that Reagan was so good at, no... he's that guy in law school who always kicked everybody else's *** in moot court and you could tell when he shook your hand at the end he was thinking, "you're done, boy."

So he has the ego of a hyper-competitive winner. I would not like him as a person. Let's say that's all true.

What makes you think he doesn't surround himself with experts and staff and weigh all of their inputs before making decisions? That is, after all, the cardinal rule of successful management -- grab everybody else's best ideas and take the credit.

I believe if Obama was exactly the same guy with exactly the same policies, but he did it all with a derp-a-derp accent or Reagan's avuncular, self-effacing affectations, the whole "you think you're so smart!" argument would never come up.

I don't know, but there was an ESPN writer fired from his job for wondering if Jeremy Lin's turnovers represented a "chink in his armor." I'm not even kidding. Non-Denominational Moral Authority bless America.

Um... I don't think you can really say that.

But you should have loved that, since ESPN's decisions are all driven by profit. That was the marketplace in action.

I think this story is a better example of what you're trying to say. I'm sure the people whose vocabularies did not include the word groused about the guy "thinking he's smarter than the rest of us." :)

Re: Obama XXIII: The Muslin Anti-Christ Wages War on the forces of Christianity!

Bob, when you and facts meet, you have to re-introduce yourself because you're usually either running away from them or refusing to admit they exist. The Knesset doesn't get invited on tours of whatever the hell in America would be the equivalent of Israeli settlements like Republican congressmen.

And the President of the United States meeting with Arab leaders is called international politics. The Prime Minister of the Israeli state meeting with leaders of an individual party in US politics like McConnell, McCain and Cantor, is called involving himself in internal American politics. This isn't rocket science.
State of denial on the Middle East, meet bronconick. Bronconick, meet state of denial on the Middle East.

So our folks go over there all the time and get involved, but they don't do likewise over here. You make my point for me. Thanks.

I look at the things he says and does. You walked right into that one! :D

It's puzzling, all the libtards subscribe to and do their best to circulate, the myth of His Transcriptlessness' amazing academic achievements. Yet he hides the records which would prove his academic superiority and his libtard acolytes find nothing suspicious about that. I think it's clear he's hiding something. And that the libtards have an amazing lack of curiosity about this lack of "transparancy." Not everyone gets to run against Alan Keyes. It's hard to argue inevitability when you're running against a guy with size 24 red shoes.

Yeah, Bibi, I'm going to have to tell you to go fark yourself. We just blew 8 years in Iraq on bad intelligence. We're tired, and have no desire to kick off Gulf War 3 against the advice of our military, your military and both countries' intelligence agencies with a country 4 times the size of Iraq when you can't even get a majority of your own citizens to support it. So why don't you run along back home and keep shoving in new settlements as fast as you can since you know that when some Arab country does find a way to copy 70 year old technology, you're going to have to behave and treat the Palestinians like human beings, which I'm sure gives you nightmares.

His eagerness to insert himself into internal American politics has pretty much ended my patience with him. Could you imagine the screams if Obama was in Israel palling around with his opposition?

I don't know whether this rant is anti-Israeli or anti-Semetic. Maybe both. The "Palestinians" are complicit in their own suffering, as are the rulers of the Arab kleptocracies, who have zero interest in helping these people out. You've got folks in "refugee" camps for half a century? Spare me. Screw the Palestinians. They elect leaders who want to destroy Israel. And unless and until they recognize Israel's right to exist, they're getting exactly what they deserve. They once sent their leader to address the General Assembly of the United Nations and he was armed. Very classy. When word of 911 reached the "Palestinians" they were literally dancing in the streets. This lasted until that same leader announced the lives of TV stringers and other involved in reporting on the celebrations would be forfeit.

Isreal isn't perfect. They have done things I cannot forgive: the strafing of the USS Liberty for one. Jonathon Pollard for another. But they have fought bravely, against vastly superior odds, many times--just to preserve their country. They are attacked on a daily basis, by enemies who want Israel wiped off the face of the earth. Who can know for certain what is in the minds of the Mullahs? Or in Netanyahu's. But try to put yourself in Bibi's mind for just a moment. A hostile, fanatical regime that has called for his country's destruction over and over again appears to be well on it's way to building nukes. And he should do what? Negotiate? Cross his fingers? Pray? That didn't work in the 40's and it won't work now.

I actually agree with all of this. Stop the world...:D

Iran must be stopped. The political costs will be minimal and only last a news cycle. I hope Israel does it or if they can't, then we need to. And sooner than later.

Re: Obama XXIII: The Muslin Anti-Christ Wages War on the forces of Christianity!

I'm still unclear as to why we just can't let them handle the Iranian problem and we stay out of it.

Actually, 1930's, but your point is well taken. However, is it our problem, or Israel's? If the Knesset feels it is in their national interest to remove the Iranian nuclear threat, and they have the national will to back it up, that is their business. What the USA does in response will be minor compared with if we have a whack job running around over there with nukes in his arsenal.

At least you acknowledge there's a difference, though. AIPAC has been trading on conflating those terms for 20 years.

We seem doomed to repeat history.

Like GW, the analysis of Obama's intellect and wisdom will continue to evolve after he leaves office and the secrets come out.

Gee too bad he kept all this wit, intelligence, and ability a secret for 8 years in office as the president and the years up to it. And only now, with the help of this brave man do we really see how foolish we all were!

But my wife, who was told by her friends to hate George Bush, was floored by how warm and kind he was. After that encounter she had to tell her liberal friends that the guy actually wasn't the devil—the president actually gave her a hug.
Really? That's the only reason his wife had for not liking a president who looked like he could be outsmarted by this guy?

Color me dubious that this article isn't complete bollocks.

Isreal is a regional, not a world, military power. I'm not certain they have the tools to deal Iran a crushing blow. We have stealth bombers and the world's most powerful penetrators (and even they are being retrofitted to improve their effectiveness) and Israel does not. I'm no military brain, but there would be a huge difference between a cataclysmic attack on Iran's various nuclear facilities and a series of nibbles. For certain, the latter would be a war. The former would be more like a Sonny Liston jab: the lights go out and your teeth are on the canvas.

Certainly. However, if Israel is "consumed by a fireball" or whatever that greasy little monkey in Iran is talking about, it won't make much difference, will it?
