So the secretary of Labor makes a statement by buying an American made car, too bad it was made in Canada. What a dope:D

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

I must have missed the GOP saying they were wrong
You must have missed who made the speech about how we need "a new tone of civility" following Palin's supposed conspiracy to have Democrat politicians shot in the head by her supporters.
Hint #1: You've got the wrong political party.
Hint #2: The hypocrisy is Obama supporting threats of violence against people who would vote against him, made by Hoffa in his introduction.

Who are "Democrat politicians"? They are Democratic politicians. It would be the same as if some jackass were to refer to Republic politicians. It doesn't really make sense.

As for the hypocrisy, hey there's plenty to go around. Should we ask Governor Perry what he meant by saying Texans wouldn't treat the head of the fed very well?

And has Bachmann explained what message God was sending Governor Perry when He turned the state into an oven and then burned half of it down?

Or does God only send messages via disasters to Democratic politicians?

Sorry about my poor grammar. I'm also sorry about the pathetic quality of all the presidential candidates. The last thing I want to do is defend any of them. But: it's not hypocrisy on Perry's part if he's not the guy who denounced violent rhetoric. Unseemly, perhaps, or stupid, or tactless... but the point was that only one politician made a grand-standing address to the nation calling for a "new tone of civility" and then decided it only applies to the "bad guys" on the other side of the aisle, while praising the same on his own. They're all scum, left to right, as far as I can see.

You should be sorry :p

Obama tried his "new tone of civility" and the GOP ran all over him. Now that he is showing a little backbone he's a hypocrite. Of course, he really isn't showing much backbone, others are doing it for him. He's yet to stand up to the GOP in any meaningful way.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

Hard to buy this stance when there's been only one politician you've called out.

That's not true at all; you haven't been around. It's just a lot more fun to pick on the guy that's currently in office, just as it was 6 and 12 years ago.
Although I'm very conservative, I'm an equal opportunity hater for today's two major parties, neither of which are anything close to conservative. I realize this is an extremely unpopular stance around here... but blind party loyalty never appealed to me, personally.

Ya, we know...'fair and balanced'.

Republicans have the social conservative part down to a "science".:D

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

Ever read the account of the 'battle at the top of the world" between Pakistan and India? Where the two sides are 'holding' the border...the highest incident of casualties is the weather, they rarely fire meaningful shots but periodically they lob a shell or two at each other to make the generals feel good and really nothing is gained...sound familiar?

If that doesn't ring a bell, how about driving in the back of the family car with your siblings on a hot day, stuck in traffic on your way home from vacation where "he started it" is the most frequent chorus.

That about sums up this thread.

I'm surprised some of you have devolved into just repeating the syncophantic chorus of your party...why don't you just respond with "I know you are, but what am I?" on every post, that would actually be a step up.

Don't know that I speak for everyone...but from a so called 'liberal point of view...

We're kind of tired of taking a cooperative point of view and getting pushed around. The majority of liberals including presidents (Obama and Clinton) as well as the Washington establishment are mostly fine with tiny changes and sticking with the status quo. There is a classical form of combatting recessions by getting national revenues up by forcing money through the economy when the private sector won't spend. Obama has been trying this. A moderate approach in tough times. Conservatives come in and need to change everything...they talk a bit about shrinking spending (we'll see about that)...and in the end, push a social conservative agenda. GOP candidates seem to have no problem throwing out big pieces of the Constitution. And Conservative voters say 'I don't really believe in some of these things' but in the end, it never matters how extreme GOP platforms are. Unlike quick left criticisms of Obama, Conservatives end up following the GOP blindly no matter how extreme in the end anyways.

And the methods are different. There are very few times that Dems have said no way to cooperation...the Repubs do it all the time. The debt was a classic example. Dems were just looking for a solution. Republicans were prepared to let the whole thing crash and burn. Typical negotiation tactics...but the country is continously on the block. To that end, if there's talk of cheating electronic machines...Conservatives don't seem to reallly care. It gives off the opinion that cheating is just fine if its in favor of 'their' team.

Liberal 'media' may have a slanted pov (which I and others really don't see) but its more subtle and argues from a logic point of view. Conservative media always jacks up the rhetoric and makes it strictly opinion and much more unabashed. For every pundit on the left (who gets little attention), there are 3 on the right that are screaming that Dems are socialist (which when asked to explain, they retreat). It has moved 'the enemy' to be Americans...whoever they disagree with.

So in the end, some of us play defense...or the country takes 5 steps backwards rather than just 3. And even a post like this never gets a serious response from the righties on the board (or if it does it avoids all these issues).

A little liberal agenda would be nice. (I don't agree too much with legalizing marijuana part, but the drug war isn't exactly a stunningly success)

Fair and Balanced.

Fox Doctors Hoffa Speech To Fabricate Call For Violence

Right-wing bloggers misled by dishonest Fox News video editing are attacking Teamsters President James Hoffa for supposedly urging violence against Tea Party activists during a Labor Day speech. Conservatives are also attacking President Obama, who appeared at the event, for "sanctioning violence against fellow Americans" by failing to denounce Hoffa. But fuller context included in other Fox segments makes clear that Hoffa wasn't calling for violence but was actually urging the crowd to vote out Republican members of Congress.

During the segment that the bloggers have latched onto, Fox edited out the bolded portion of Hoffa's comments:

HOFFA: Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a *****es out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much!

In an initial report on Hoffa's speech at 1 p.m. on Fox News, Ed Henry reported that Hoffa said that "we'll remember in November who's with the working people" and "said of the Tea Party and of Republicans, 'let's take these sons of *****es out.'"

<object width='320' height='240'><param name='movie' value='http://cloudfront.mediamatters.org/static/flash/pl55.swf'></param><param name='flashvars' value='config=http://mediamatters.org/embed/cfg3?f=/static/clips/2011/09/05/19846/fnc-al-20110905-henryhoffa2.flv'></param><param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always'></param><param name='allownetworking' value='all'></param><embed src='http://cloudfront.mediamatters.org/static/flash/pl55.swf' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' flashvars='config=http://mediamatters.org/embed/cfg3?f=/static/clips/2011/09/05/19846/fnc-al-20110905-henryhoffa2.flv' allowscriptaccess='always' allowfullscreen='true' width='320' height='240'></embed></object>

But in a second segment that ran at roughly the same time as Henry's tweet, Fox News dishonestly edited the speech in the manner seen above. Andrew Breitbart's Big sites, Real Clear Politics, The Daily Caller, the Media Research Center, and the Drudge Report have all highlighted that footage, using it to condemn "the violence emanating from union thug bosses" and demand that Obama "denounce" the comments.

In the Fox News segment that included the dishonestly cropped video, Republican consultant Brad Blakeman decried the comments as "thuggery at its best" and "the kind of remarks you'd expect out of Tony Soprano," and commented that "when a union president says 'let's take these sons of *****es out,' that usually means someone's legs are going to get broken, somebody's going to disappear." Meanwhile, anchor Megyn Kelly somehow did not mention Henry's previous explanation that the comments were references to voting Republicans out of office.

Given the reaction by some around here to Hoffa's reported remarks, this certainly seemed relevant. I'm sure that all those who were duped by this (mis)reporting of the made up "facts" will realize the error of their ways and get their news from a more reputable source. Maybe they'll even apologize for making comments about the president and the speaker now that they know they were lied to in order to elicit that reaction.

and monkeys might fly out my ass
