Yes, never a reason to complain about police misconduct when dealing with US citizens. Like Mr. Happy Pepper spray.

Inspector pepper spray (zealous cops) did them (Occupy Wall Street.org) a favor with over-use of force, huge media attention for an unknown organization. I feel like joining them to protest wall street And the thuggish cops after seeing that video.

What a great country! USA Today asked some of these people what they're protesting against. Two didn't know, but were having fun anyway and apparently hoping for some looting opportunities. One was "against capitalism". One was firmly against "greed". Make a stand, brothers!

Looks like these guys are borrowing from the idea (Arab spring) of occupying a central square till the leadership (elected officials) listen to their demand (punish wall street). And NY cops aren't doing the banks or elected leaders any favor by over-use of force and the heightened media attention because of it.

Sort of like how Ray Comfort found a half hour worth of retards who didn't know who Hitler was for his new atrocity called 180. Take the 180 seconds of 180 challenge here See if you can watch the first 180 seconds without feeling physically ill. (There's actually a woman in it with sunglasses dark enough that you can see she was reading off a cue card after noticeably turning her head in order to read.)

I saw no "allowing" and definitely no "escorting." There were, what, 4 cops at the front of that crowd. They were supposed to stop the whole crowd on their own? They did the smart thing and retreated until they could regroup with a larger group of cops so they could start taking control of the situation again.

The cops were already directing them down the pedestrian lane that was full. They moved to the side and allowed them to walk down the street unobstructed behind them. How is that not "allowing"?

Yes, because I clearly said there is never any such thing as police misconduct. You really are having trouble with universal and particular propositions today. I saw no police misconduct in the particular video you posted.

Foxton, I think that's a bit silly. You can't claim that the police didn't stop you from committing a crime as a reason to commit it.

I still don't think it would have been a good idea for those 4 cops to stop the whole crowd in that narrow bottleneck area. They left that potentially dangerous situation, and the crowd followed on their own. They really didn't appear to tell the crowd that it was okay or to wave them on with hand gestures or anything like that.

Ah - now I watched the 2nd one. That doesn't look too good - I hope there's a proper investigation and appropriate action taken. But what exactly is your point on this? That one police officer was naughty, so the protesters should be allowed to occupy a bridge illegally without being arrested?

Well these guys do need to focus their message: stronger banking regulation, raise capital gains tax, takeover of investment banks (about to fail), top executive pay % of employee earnings and a cap etc...

something to do with changing our laws (civil rights act). Since it's actually the lawmakers that has made inequity worst by lowering capital gains tax and other changes, like deregulation and letting banks merge into too-big-to-fail.

I'm surprised there wasn't more retaliatory attacks in the 60's, saw some old footage of protesters and even when they were (legal) they were getting some major hate (spitting, cussing etc...) from mostly white southern women (day time).

My point? Some officers have mishandled portions of this whole thing, and in the part dxmnkd brought up they were doing it again by letting the protestors have just enough rope to hang themselves. There were well over a thousand people at this one place but only a small number as you've suggested there to guard this one road at the front of the group. What were the other officers doing? Other videos show dozens of officers at any one part of the protests. That one guy who was taking down for waving a flag and yelling had more on him. My guess is they were waiting to arrest those 700 people.
