A riot is an ugly thing!

Bless you, my son! You read my mind... :D

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

I still don't think it would have been a good idea for those 4 cops to stop the whole crowd in that narrow bottleneck area. They left that potentially dangerous situation, and the crowd followed on their own. They really didn't appear to tell the crowd that it was okay or to wave them on with hand gestures or anything like that.

Ah - now I watched the 2nd one. That doesn't look too good - I hope there's a proper investigation and appropriate action taken. But what exactly is your point on this? That one police officer was naughty, so the protesters should be allowed to occupy a bridge illegally without being arrested?

Even the NY Times is backing the NYPD.

With the Internet bursting with videos showing various interactions between the police and protesters from Occupy Wall Street, the New York Police Department decided to add two more.

The videos, which were released on Sunday morning, show the police issuing two separate warnings to marchers who were either poised to cross the Brooklyn Bridge on its roadway, rather than the pedestrian walkway, or had already begun doing so.

One of the videos shows a police official warning protesters that if they crossed the roadway, they would be charged with disorderly conduct. His remarks were met with chants of “Take the bridge, take the bridge.” Seconds later, the protesters begin marching across the bridge, accompanied by cheers.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

A prepared statement and not enough of a force to even attempt to block off that direction?

How convenient.

Seriously?

What do you want? An aircraft carrier floating in the harbor? :D

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

I love this protest. One blogger found a gang of these knuckleheads sponsored by George Soros who are sure that 1) they want to get the influence of money out of politics and 2) they are for the reelection of Obama. :p (presumably, he's the guy to get rid of democracy for us)
One other chick was interviewed saying "If these billionaires would be more generous, none of us would need any money."
Yet another admitted that he quit his job so he could come along and protest joblessness. :D

There was another interviewed who said she would turn down a job if one was offered by a billionaire. These people are so stupid it hurts. And not because I necessarily disagree with them, but rather, they are just literally stupid. Borderline retarded at times. "I'm protesting joblessness so I quit my job." It painful.

Those tax breaks for the top 1% sure are working! In fact, they're working so well, let's just abolish the social safety net!

As soon as we go back to the gold standard and we remove those pesky minimum wage laws and regulations everything is going to be great.

I am 26. I have an engineering degree from a top university. I have no school debt. I have a 401k and a job that pays really, really well. I also own a house, or I'm at least on the way to paying it off. I am part of the 99%.

*yawn*

And if your company decided it was moving operations to India tomorrow I'm sure you'd be just fine.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

So all the rioting is their master plan to get super-high-paying jobs and great benefits for no apparent reason? but money is evil! Are the Wall St. banks they want to shut down supposed to hire them, or what? Still not getting the point.
OK... you suck at life. Get out of our way. It might be news that the world does not owe you a living.

Problem with that theory is my position wouldn't move to India since it involves export controlled information.

Yep. your job is safe. I know quite a few unemployed people who thought that a few years ago. Good luck.

In order:

1. He has a full time job, and he's mad that it doesn't pay as much as his parents? Cry me a river. Is it even in the same field?

2. Not really enough information to decide. Was the $75K in debt to obtain a masters degree in engineering or renaissance literature?

3. She took out $100K in loans with the goal of becoming a teacher? I'm sorry, but that is foolish *and* irresponsible.

4. So, she's not going to be able to pay her bills either anyway, but can't decide whether to invest in a better education or stick with a dead-end, low paying job. How is that even a question?

5. Inconclusive again.

Oh, but I forgot. Nobody has any personal responsibility any more. It's our right to have a job and health care, so it's the government's responsibility to make sure we get those things, not ours.

Stop making sense or you can't be part of the 99%ers

Of course it's not 100% safe. No job is 100% safe. I'm just saying that I've looked ahead more than a few weeks into the future while deciding what path to take after graduating from high school. Did that guarantee that my path would come to fruition? Nope. But it's better than nothing.

Of course, there's an element of "luck" in this whole process. But then again, you have to make your own luck in times like these.

Could you please reimburse me for a new keyboard that was ruined by the coffee shooting out my nose? Much too funny and unfortunately, much too true.

"I'm reminded of the refrain from that old Frank Zappa love ballad: "You're breaking my heart. You're tearing it apart. So eff you."
It was Harry Nilsson but sentiment persists
