Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

.

Or he could have picked that original date because that is the first day that both Houses are back in session. Which would seeem like a logical choice if you are trying to set the tone for what the next sessions should focus on.

I guess it depends on whether someone is credulous enough to believe this WH was unaware of the debate, and extend to it an undeserved benefit of the doubt. I'm not. We have 3 co-equal branches of government, a fact both you and Deadmeat seem to have forgotten. He doesn't get to "pick" anything. He gets to ask. This isn't like renting a hall for a wedding reception. And in this case, the overtly political nature of his request caused the Speaker to slap him down.

Isn't there a Ghandi quote about him liking Christ, but finding Christians so very different from Christ?

I don't blame Jesus per se; I blame the religious right who do stupid *** shiat in his name. If it wasn't Jesus, they'd be doing the same thing in someone else's name.

It wasn't conservative Christians who sexually abused hundreds (thousands?) of boys and then covered up those crimes for decades by inflicting those pedophile "clergymen" on other, unsuspecting communities, was it? And "in whose name" were those crimes committed? So spare me your pious moralizing about how terrible conservative Christians are. And your ugly religious intolerance doesn't reflect well on you at all. But the hypocricy of libs in this area is so well established they don't see their bigotry as bigotry.

Obama's an idiot. This isn't up there with Bush I not knowing the price of milk, but it's pretty close.

"Sure, let me reschedule to avoid a time conflict with something that 13 people are going to watch. People will fall over each other to watch a primary debate 4+ months before the first primary. We'll do it Thursday night instead."

ON THE NFL'S OPENING NIGHT ON NBC.

Boehner refused Obama's original date and invited him that night instead.

Just wondering...is there a GOOD night for the president to address Congress and interrupt prime time?

Extremists have always been attracted to causes. Nationalism across the world, every religion, racism for thousands of years. They are the problem in Islam. They are the problem in Christianity. At times, they are the problem with America. The sad thing is that...not only...is Jesus attracting more than his fair share of extremism today...but that he merits this the least of almost cause imaginable.

And if society operated based on Jesus' message...it really would be a world with few problems. We talk about society having a relatively low aptitude for certain political issues, etc. Whether its true or not, its still surprising that even so called 'smart people' don't seem to understand the differences between the Jesus' message and Christians.

Are you being purposely obtuse because Obama stepped in it? Any night where there isn't a show that will draw 30 million viewers that will either not be watching or ****ed off that they're not watching their show because "that idiot had to make a speech" would be a good start. We've already seen them have the common sense to avoid making a speech during American Idol. This is the same idea.

Obama wanted to address Congress on the first night of the new session. For the first time in the history of the Republic, the Speaker said "No" and suggested he speak the following night. What part of that don't you understand?

No there isn't. Not in an era of 200 channels. And "reality" shows featuring 400 pound repo dudes. What Deadmeat wanted to do was take the wind out of Perry's sails in his "debut" on the natonal stage. The president surely wasn't concerned about Ron Paul or Michele Bachmann. I suppose you could give him credit for taking a shot at it. If it had worked it would have been a small win, and he's a guy who desperately needs some victories. Instead, once again, he's exposed as a weak duck.

What part don't YOU understand? Deadmeat made a political decision. Boehner slapped him down. And all of that "first time in the history of the Republic" blather just shows how over the line Deadmeat's request was. "First night of the new session" is a consideration. But there's hardly any liturgical imperative to make a speech that night. Three "co-equal" branches of government. Amateur hour in the WH. Customarily these negotiations are done secretly. Deadmeat chose to sandbag Boehner, evidently hoping he'd just cave in. He didn't.

Huntsman gets it:

(AP) WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman calls the fuss over the timing of President Barack Obama's job speech "nonsense," saying it is "what people hate about politics."

After House Speaker John Boehner balked at Obama's request to speak to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 7, the president agreed to move it back to Sept. 8.

Appearing Thursday on NBC's "Today," Huntsman also criticized his GOP rivals, saying "we're getting drama but not solutions."

The President's name is Deadmeat and the Speaker slaps the President down. This is what America has become. Somewhere Madison is weeping.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

Huntsman gets it:

Ah, yes, the libs favorite Republican. If you guys love him so much, run him against Deadmeat in your primaries. The only nonsense here was an embattled president trying to big foot the speaker and stepping on his johnson instead. Like I say, an unforced error. This is a tiny matter that will be quickly forgotten. But it's another example of how incompetent this president and this WH is.

Yeah, so? You spent 8 years with only respectful references to Bush? Pee in somebody else's ear, pal. Your concerns for Madison's lacyrymal glands are touching, but of fairly recent vintage. Just for the record, Deadmeat is how John Kass of the Chicago Tribune referred to a certain former governor of Illinois. I've adopted it to refer to Barry because it obviously upsets libtards, whose memories don't extend back far enough to remember all the sh*t they said about Bush every single day. You know, shooting him, decapitating him, hanging him, etc. With any luck at all, Deatmeat will become the nicest thing anybody says about this over hyped weak duck incompetent.

Depends, are you dumb enough not to know that catholics are christian?

Thought crime should lead to bodily mutilation? He was there to reaffirm all the old laws like killing women who aren't virgins when they get married? Divorce is adultery? (Yes he said some nice things but if his message was simply love everyone how in the world would you get to say beating your kids to for jesus?)

Liar.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

Correct. In the history of the Republic, the Speaker has refused the President's request to address Congress...umm....never. So congratulations to the Orange One for yet another first!

In this day and time, where every single thing relative to public perception is examined from 9 directions, it is impossible that the WH didn't know that was the same night as the debate, they also should know that congress wasn't officially back until 6:30pm on the proposed night (if what I heard today on NPR is accurate). So, it is no mistake that they chose that date knowing full well what the conflicts were...once they chose to politicize the choice of dates (or were just that naive?) they can't cry because the other guy out-politic'd them.

The President is left with two explanations: I didn't know what was going on that night (not a great answer) OR
I absolutely knew what was going on and tried to make some hay by putting the other guys in a pinch but somebody over here didn't anticipate them telling us to pound sand, and #WINNING!!. (the other not great answer)

From a pure leadership perspective, this makes the President look petty. There are plenty of times when one is capable of putting an adversary in a vice...my experience tells me to anticipate their reaction and make sure the issue is worthy of starting a 'fight'...many of my smarter decisions have been to forego the short-term enjoyment of watching somebody squirm and instead keep perspective on my larger goals. Now, if somebody's larger goals include 'sticking it to the other guy' then their problems start well before the small fracas right in front of them.

I'm pretty sure most of the country views everyone in DC as petty. ;)

I don't know about this situation but after their behavior during The Great Debt Ceiling hostage crisis the GOP pretty much lost the right to call anyone petty ever again.

Probably. Boehner can afford it. Deadmeat can't. This was strictly an inside the beltway matter. And Deadmeat lost, bigtime.

The President (Deadmeat I guess he's called now) really blew it though. What he should have done is when he was denied by Boehner he should have went ahead and did from the Oval Office and ripped Boehner and the Congress a new one for saying no. Accepting Thursday makes it look like Congress is running the show. This President is weak.

Congress IS running the show. And would you stop whining if I called him President Deadmeat? Let me know, hypocrite, and I'll make all copy comply.

Meanwhile, I post this so you can relive the good old days. Who knows, maybe you'll see yourself or some of your friends.

The Dems dismissed Dubya's re-election chances as well. How'd that work out? ;)
