I don't agree. Most of you bigtime libs at least can carry on a halfway decent conversation, as can the few conservatives around here, but I've never been able to have a decent conversation with Foxton. He's the first person I put on ignore in probably 8 or 9 years.

Half wrong, again. You're the guy who defended, or at least didn't criticize, calling Sarah Palin's kid a "retard." You're the guy who, just yesterday, suggested I was wrong to call out libs for their religious intolerance regarding Palin, Bachmann and now Perry. None of you would ever speak that way about a Jew, Catholic, or God forbid a Muslim or even a "Nation of Islam" Muslim. But you have no problem whatsoever couching your criticisms of these people in whole or in part based on their religious beliefs. And then deny it when it's pointed out. You don't understand these people. And you fear them. And that's why the ladies' chorale is on here every day snarking away at their beliefs. If that isn't bigotry, then the word has no meaning.

Meanwhile, the Congressional Black Caucus, doing the bidding of its electoral massa, is out trying to win Deadmeat's prize for the most outrageous racist statement made. Jesse Jackson set the standard here in 2000 when he went down to Kokomo, Mississippi and declared the tragic death of a young black man a "lynching," despite the fact that local, state and Janet Reno's Justice Department officials ruled it a suicide. It's a little early to be playing the "lynching" card, but hey, Deadmeat's got some ground to make up.

And it's always a good thing to see that being impeached and removed from the federal bench for corruption hasn't damaged Alcee Hastings' career.

I'm pretty sure if a Catholic or Jewish politician played the religion card in order to pander to a fervent minority of their fellow believers, they'd be trolled by people like Foxton just as hard. Similarly, if some Islamic figure were to run on a platform of Islamic empire, theocracy and sharia law, no one except a few closeted Islamists would be in support of that. Least of all, the lefties.

As to the liar, you're free to draw any conclusion you like. Maybe you're right. But I don't think I'm being "overly emotional" in responding to his lies. And we'll just have to disagree about conservative Christians. There are Christophobes out there. We hear from them every day, here, and on the pages of the NYT. Bill Keller recently made some snarky cracks about whether or not Mitt Romney wears "Mormon undergarments." That may strike you as fair comment, not me. No conservative Christian candidate is talking about establishing a theocracy. You may be fearful of what they believe, but that fear is not justified. This exange will doubtless result in one of those "did you hear what (fill in the name of the candidate) said about "submission" or some other nonsense, but I'll risk it. And no Muslim candidate would run on the platform you outlined, he'd run like Keith Ellison did, being less than candid about his beliefs and past. And why is it "pandering" when conservative Christians express their beliefs but not "pandering" when liberals attack, condemn and mock Christians for those beliefs, by appealing to a "fevant minority of their fellow believers." Religious tolerance by the left these days has a significantly different meaning than it did when I was in school.

I'm not sure what you mean about "playing the religion card." We had two "reverands" run for president as Democrats, making political speeches from the pulpits of churches, but I don't recall concerns about ushering in a theocracy. Maybe my memory's failing me. Thanks for the vote of confidence, although I'm not certain "everyone" thinks I'm as bad as all of that. Under any circumstances, I completely agree, I'm "not as bad as (at least some) think I am."

My fault, his fault, nobody's fault--discussion of race attitudes had nothing to do with the "trainwreck" as you call it. Nothing. The starting point for this fracas was my post about evolution. The liar is of the opinion that I changed my views for some obscure, not explained reason. On the subject of race I believe I have made some "sensible" comments. So I don't know where that's coming from. I believe it was post 635, six or seven graphs in length, with illustrations to support my points. You may not agree with my conclusions, but you cannot in fairness say it wasn't candid or thoughtful. Having points of view with which the majority disagrees is not a felony, or even a misdemeanor.

I believe I've made some thoughtful posts on the subject of race. So I don't know where that's coming from.

let me put it this way: responding to any of the hate Foxton spits out is like... it's like arguing with a camel about his dental hygiene. Why bother? It's painful to read through it to find "real" responses.
I don't usually use "ignore", but when Foxton gets all stoked up about the eeeevils of Christianity, I'm tempted.
