"interesting" = "supports my narrative" ;)

BTW, this site indicates Wynn is a Republican (thought he supported Reid) and he's been an Obama Hater at least since 2009, even down to the TEHSOCIALISM!!!11!! card.

Wynn's campaign contributions.

It confirms they are holding the money out of the market because of Obama. Something thats been bantered around.

Well when your desire is for a tax/regulation/responsibility free utopia, I wonder who they wouldn't be holding out on?

Except it doesn't. It's just one guy's obviously politically-motivated statement -- a guy who contributes more than 2:1 to Republicans over Democrats. George Soros is a billionaire who thinks liberal economic policies work and Warren Buffett is a billionaire who says "there is a class war and my class is winning." Does that confirm anything, or does it mean opinions are like assholes?

I haven't heard anyone come right out and say it. Wynn did.Is it politcially motivated, sure, aren't they all when you're a billionaire.

I've heard it as a talking point.

When we initially did TARP the banks were hoarding the money or using it to finance takeovers rather than lending it out -- did that mean they were terrified of Dubya?

I'd say it's fairly prudent to hold right now, since nobody knows whether the Eurozone is going to break up, China's bubble is going to burst, or the US is going to commit suicide. While all of those are political issues, none of them traces to Obama.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

The title is offputting. But it is a great article...and seemingly true in a bizarre way.
One quibble; IINM LBJ actually left with a very small deficit, but it was on track from his policies (as much the war as the GS) to balloon so in principle the author's thesis is right.

I still find the Reagan-Obama parallel more convincing. Both followed dismal failure presidents, both rode charismatic waves, both were oversold by their side's radicals and over-feared by the other side's radicals. Both were viewed as disappointing in that they didn't make dramatic and substantive changes (government rose faster under Reagan than before; Obama hasn't reversed any of the truly heinous or significant Bush policies yet). Reagan saved himself with his later budgets where he raised taxes and got a tailwind from the post-oil shock recovery. Obama could do the same by just muddling through until the worst is over with the Bush Recession (or until the rest of the world starts falling apart and finance has nowhere to go but back to Uncle Sam).

It's a great irony that Reagan would be more at home as a moderate Dem today. Perhaps in thirty years moderate Republicans will be claiming the mantle of Obama. Apparently, anything is possible.

Six dead after gunman opens fire at Texas birthday party

I'm not sure how many more killing sprees will need to happen before guns outside the home gets the the rep it deserves. Unfortunately, others will die in the process.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

What does that even mean?

Gun carriage laws need to respect the Constitution...while acknowledging that guns do not make streets safer. In other words, keep em in the home already (with allowances for the rare case of hunting). It appears that more publicized acts of violence will need to occur before society's wishes overwhelm Gun lobby special interests (and the 28%ers).

Based on your logic (sic), since the suspect was Asian, we should therefore have stricter immigration laws. Shouldn't we ban automobiles due to all those cases of vehicular manslaughter? Someone drowned in a pool nearby the other day, we need to fight for stricter swimming laws.

Thank goodness there are extremely strict gun laws in Norway.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

We need to ban dangerous dihydrogen monoxide...that stuff can kill ya.

Re: Obama XXI: Kenyan Muslins are ruining this country!

More people are killed in car crashes each year, so maybe we need to ban cars outside the home as well.

And since many are killed because of drunk driving, we need to ban alcohol outside the home too. :p

Automobiles? Just how is someone choosing to make a decision to put their own life at risk (out of economic necessity) the same as giving someone the power to kill you if they desire?

Guns are used to murder 10k-30k Americans every year. That's more than all other methods...combined.

So what's the benefit to allow guns to be carried on the streets? Would you argue it makes society safer? That's not what companies who have the most to lose. Banks? Banned. Airlines? Banned. Most key government facilities? Banned. Is that because guns make those places safer?

Astronomical costs in terms of lives...benefits, please? Anyone?

I sort of agree with you here. And I live in a bad state for that. It takes a while to get used to seeing the occasional young couple shopping at Target, and he's packing heat. Any time there's a mass shooting somewhere, somebody wonders what would have happened if some of the "good guys" were armed. I've already seen at least one such article in the wake of the Norway shootings. Take the massacre at Virginia Tech. Any number of people speculated that if some of those Hokies were armed, they could have plugged Woo Tang Clan and put a stop to it. That would have been wonderful. But what the gun advocates never consider is those armed college kids could have just as easily shot each other (cops do it, why shouldn't guys in ATO?).
