Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

the tired old thing about Reagan being stupid is easily put to rest by reading his writings.

this was a liberal talking point from the early 80's

no one (well, ok, maybe a couple of the homers from the 1800's) gets to be president and is stupid.

Jackson was illiterate.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Condescension is not an argument, but for you guys, it IS a way of life.

Nah...for each liberal who acts like conservatives are idiots...there's at least one conservative who acts like liberals are idiots. Most liberals don't care much about such issues...and from what I know of him, Buckley didn't care much accusations of him being condescending either.

Each day that passes reveals the truth of Barack Hussein Obama, he's an empty suit.

Nah...he's a moderate (by many measures) who limits his risks. The further from the middle you are...the less you'll like him.

Republican identity politics?! This from someone who blah blah blah

I wish I could find the classic clip of Archie Bunker to George Jefferson: "Whoa, there. We people aren't "you people." You people are "you people"!"

Every time the Republicans play their insipid "real Amurka" card they're playing identity politics. Every time they trot out the "elitist" label; every time they talk about "all you smart guys" or "all you guys who think you're better than us." All their condescension about "condescension." Pure emotional tub-thumping to stoke up resentment based on labels. The very essence of identity politics.

The only difference between the modern GOP and Al Sharpton is a nicer tie.

Are you trying to help Pio prove his point?

Just once, I'd like to see someone actually try to defend Fox against accusations like this. Never happen.

It's so much simpler just to whine about the liberal bias inherent in the lamestream media than to actually defend Faux.

Bill O'Reilly defends it every night of the week. Every time he is on he spends at least 20 minutes of his program time telling everyone how wonderful Fox News is and how evil the liberal atheist Islamofascist lamestream media is.

In fact you can set your watch to it.

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

It's funny but I've never heard anyone admit they're in the Fox audience. The conservatives I know (granted, hyper-educated, Oakeshottian, "no time for buttered scones I'm off to play the grand piano" conservatives) all say it's not their thing but they understand its use for "morale." Essentially, they acknowledge it as a propaganda tool the equivalent of say Daily Kos, Free Republic, Mother Jones or The Weekly Standard.

But they at least used to have pretty good ratings and command pretty good ad rates. Somebody's watching it.

I can't watch Bill anymore. I used to. His show used to at least be entertaining. But, 20 minutes a night on how his company is getting screwed by the man is too much, even for me.

That's because they hire former beauty queens as "news" readers :p

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Is that my cue to post the video of the South Carolina Miss USA contestant?

The YDFC who came to mind was Miss California...

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Day after endless boring day, libtards come on here sniggering about the latest allegedly stupid thing uttered by either Palin or Bachmann. Giggling. Twittering. Tugging themselves. Overdosing on smugness. Day after endless boring day.

To me, it's similar to hyper masculine guys like bikers, braying about beating up "fags." Maybe they've got a reason, know what I mean? If you really are smarter than Palin/Bachmann, you shouldn't have to make up stupid stuff they've "said": "I can see Russia from my house." That was Tina Fey, but who cares, "we're on a roll."

This isn't exactly a new phenomenon, Dan Quayle was victimized in the same way. "I'm happy to be in Latin America, where everybody speaks Latin." Quayle didn't say that, it was more likely Richard Belzer.

To deny this phenomenon is to engage in massive self delusion. This is how libs operate. It's important for them to feel intellectually superior to their opponants, even if they aren't. And everyone in all 57 states understands.

Day after endless boring day. Quick, somebody change the subject, and use David Brock as a "source."
You represented the right wing as the protector of the dignity of marginalized groups like gays, and liberals as their attackers. Why would anybody think that was ironic?

I did no such thing. Naturally I'm not the genius you hold yourself out to be, but I think what I wrote is called an analogy. Day after endless boring day.

Meanwhile, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-LaLaLand) says we should "arrest" Gaddafi. Uh, since BHO says we're not going to have any "boots on the ground," how is that supposed to work? Do we send Andy Sipowitz or Lennie Briscoe over there with a warrant?
