Well we got to make sure that those terrorists at Planned Parenthood are stopped, and we must never let the gays marry because that will destroy marriage. (Unlike say Newt and McCain good wholesome family men) Between the Gays, Planned Parenthood, unions and Acorn we are fighting the four horsemen of the apocalypse!

The government better stay away from me and mine, but they sure as hell can take you and yours! My stuff is important, your stuff is crap.

George Carlin was so ahead of the curve on this stuff it is crazy!

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

And despite ALL OF THAT the majority of Americans would rather vote Republican because the damm government is taking over their Medicare. It's ok if they invade our bedrooms, but heaven above don't let them take over our Medicare.

Well, the Dems have out-polled the GOP in 4 of the last 5 presidential elections and recently enjoyed a clean sweep of the government, so this is in NO way a majority Republican electorate. The right in all countries will always have the advantage of a misty-eyed nostalgic patriotism, tinged with xenophobia, while they ladle out (carefully scripted) homespun platitudes wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross. They will always have that shadowy appeal to resentment of The Other and The Different. But for all that, most people still don't buy what they're selling unless the Dems make a hash of their message.

We will always have a "conservative" electorate because today's minimum requirements for quality of life (labor laws, environmental protection, social security, racial equality, gender equality) were yesterday's moonbat radical notions that would destroy the world and make Baby Jesus weep. :)

That all would be extremely funny if it weren't true.

I wouldnt go that far more like a mourning for the final death knell of the fiscal conservatives. Not one of the GOPers gives one crap about a balanced budget...they all worship Reagan too much for that :(

I think you may have defined the entire 16,845 pages of the tax code into 2 sentences....or at least the average taxpayer's interpretation of said document. Bravo.

Wow, its quite the liberal circle jerk in here.
Are they required to only use their left hand?

Re: Obama XX: Maybe We'll Even Talk About Obama

Tastes the same as always. Like hypocrisy. The GOP's claim to fiscal discipline is the single biggest lie in American electoral politics.

They never make good on it, even when they're in power, and it's always someone else's fault.

Oh, i think the Democrat lie about "supporting our troops" is right up there. How I enjoy hearing all the lefties screaming like middle school girls on a roller coaster. Maybe you all can channel Jane Fonda. :)

This is true, but I take no pleasure in it. Since 1976 the GOP was never about fiscal restraint, it was about redistribution (or re-re-distribution). If anything, their policies have been a bigger disaster for American fiscal balance than the worst of the liberals. At least liberal policies, while expensive, ward off even more expensive outcomes. GOP policies merely transfer wealth upwards, both in practice and, unsurprisingly given who drives the party, by design.

One of the annoying realities of American politics is there is no credible fiscal conservative choice. Even libertarians who swallow the cut-rate authoritarianism and rah-rah militarism of the American right don't get back fiscal discipline as a reward. There is quite literally no reason to vote Republican unless it's to punish the Dems -- that's the real legacy of the Orange County Takeover of the GOP.

The Republicans were a serious party in the 50's and 60's. Now they're just a plutocrats' drag act. And we've all suffered for it, since when they're in power it's a disaster and when they're out of power they aren't doing anything to influence the incumbents to be a force for good.

"rumble, rumble, rumble, mutiny, mutiny, mutiny"

The outdated cold war nature of spending on junk like tanks and need to cut the military has been brought up here countless times...and theres never a counter from anyone.

Actually significant cuts to the military is the only thing on which pretty much everyone on this board seems to be aligned.

There are cuts and there are cuts. Nobody that I'm aware of is advocating the purchase of additional tanks. Besides, the Republican Guard dudes (the ones who are still alive) would dispute your characterization of M1-A1s and A2s as "junk." I notice you didn't dispute the Democrat lie about "supporting our troops." The other, related, Democrat lie is "I support a strong defense, but. . ." And there's always a "but". I don't deserve to be having so much fun.

I am not "aligned" with significant cuts in the military. Nuke 'em 'till they glow is my motto.

Man, you really make me miss the days of nate19b, verybdog, and Hank WP. They were at least entertaining in their political trolling.

Hey, I asked the regressives to join the discussion, but for some reason they've all disappeared from the thread.

Although O has not done what he can, liberals primary comment about the troops is...bring them home. That covers support form many angles...and based on where we're at today, its the type of support most troops would have at the top of their list.

...and re: your last line, it shows how you are not in tune with America competitiveness or its not your priority. The 21st is the business century...and 20th century thinking gets you killed.

I dunno. I think between that and the one about how un-American it is to question the use of force, it's pretty much a wash. The GOP has been so successful at that one that they actually got Obama to support an Afghanistan surge. Voters opposed to short-sighted adventurism are better off voting for a non-neocon republican than for a 'liberal pansy'. You have to be impressed - that's what success looks like. ::shakes head::

The galling thing about all the spending talk is not that it's blatantly untrue. Most political promises are. Even the ones that get repeated every 5 minutes. It's that it works. Both sides have tried and true diversionary tactics, but the dems have never come up with an ace like that one. The closest they've ever come in my memory has been the "Republicans will steal your social security" line that was sort of successful for a while in the 80s and 90s.

You guys are endlessly entertaining. Talk about bad losers. And there's way more to come. I can hardly wait.

Right, "the smartest guy in the room" has been manipulated. No chance he finally figured out he'd been wrong. Really, you guys need to stop this, you're killing me.

BTW, you didnt mean to suggest that what that traitorous beyatch did was "questioning the use of force," did you? What she did went considerably beyond "questioning," didn't it? Merging into consorting with and giving aid and comfort to an enemy. And causing American POWs who wouldn't play ball with her to be tortured is, I guess, a bonus. Union goons are throwing the word "shame" around pretty freely in Madison. It surely applies to Fonda, who has never apologized and should.

Friend,

Now we know why Wisconsin Republicans were in such a rush to pass their union-busting bill last night - GOP state Senate leaders have to be in Washington, DC in a few days for a big-money fund raiser hosted by conservative DC lobbyists. Private guest list, very exclusive - but they'll probably raise at least $100,000.

Maybe while the Regressives are in DC raising money, the 14 Dems can sneak back into the Capitol and pass their own bill...

And you know "most" of our troops support bugging out how?

It's understandable, because I only post sporadically, but I think you're confusing me with someone else. I don't think Obama is any kind of policy savant, let alone foreign policy. I'm in the Obama is "aimless" camp. I don't think he's ever figured out anything about Afghanistan except its relevance to his reelection prospects.
