Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

we had no income tax until 1913. tariffs, property taxes, licenses, etc should be all the $$$$ the gov't gets.

So, you wouldn't mind a VAT or national sales tax.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Although they certainly may have tried to present an honest appraisal of what the Fair Tax would do, it's pretty obvious that the FactCheck.org analysis was hampered by a lack of understanding of the Fair Tax.

Ah yes, anyone who doesn't agree with it simply doesn't understand it. The old standby routine.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

national sales tax, maybe.

I strongly believe no government owns a piece of a persons labor.
Cept how you wouldn't be able to do that labor without the gov't being there (save subsistence farming which is what the majority of the population did when the constitution was made, hence why income tax was a rather stupid thing to try and implement at the time if the concept was even there). But there is a place for you.

It's not your disagreement that underscores your low level of understanding, it's the assumptions and presumptions that you've made that underscores your low level of understanding.

It's your pigheadedness in response to having parts of the bill explained to you that underscore your unreasonableness on this matter. Doesn't surprise me in the least - lawyers have a lot to lose from the simplification of the tax code.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

CNBCs Rick Santelli doesn't appear too happy that Fannie and Freddie were left out of the financial reform bill:

http://gopleader.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=184989

And why shouldn't he be? For the love of Parise, Fannie and Freddie are hemorraging cash.....and yet there still hasn't been a meaningful reform of their lending policies. Just a lot of talk and zero action......much like the majority of Obama's campaign jargon.

...except for financial reform and healthcare...and oh come to think of it relations with many countries is much better...and I guess there is this thing about company profits vs crisis a year ago. But that's still not enough for the first year.

Fail. If anything, both have become worse.

and oh come to think of it relations with many countries is much better...

Name one. I can name five where they've gotten worse.

Hooray for socialist snark.

Your man's a failure.

I don't agree with Santelli's hysterics often, but I do agree the GSEs need some sort of resolution, and possibly a liquidation. The Senate's effectively ducked the issue, again, by pawning it off to another committee or task force ...

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Remember... ADULTS are in charge. Right?

RIGHT???

Zev Chafets reports he encouraged Rush Limbaugh to reach out to the president just after last July's "Beer Summit" that Obama hosted between Professor Henry Louis Gates and Sgt. Joseph Crowley, the Cambridge cop who arrested Gates after he locked himself out of his own home.

"You guys are both golfers," Chafets told Limbaugh. "Would you play a round with the president and show the country that there are no hard feelings?"

"He's the president of the United States," Limbaugh told Chafets. "If any president asked me to meet him, or play golf with him, I'd do it. But I promise you that will never happen. His base on the left would have a s--t-fit."

"How about letting me ask?" Chafets said.

"Go ahead," Limbaugh said. "Nothing will come of it."

Chafets writes that he reached out to Obama adviser David Axelrod, "whom I know slightly," but Axelrod didn't return calls. Then Chafets spoke to "a very senior Democratic activist with whom I'm friendly" who said he would convey the message.

A day or two later the adviser responded, "Limbaugh can play with himself." Chafets wouldn't name the aide or say whether the quote was directly from Obama.

Wow. That's mature.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Meaningless poll of the day via PPP:
2012 President
46% Obama, 45% Huckabee
50% Obama, 43% Palin
49% Obama, 42% Gingrich
46% Obama, 44% Romney
46% Obama, 28% Johnson

Weird that they tossed Gary Johnson in there.

It's nice to know that the republicans want more religious fundamentalists in office.

End of days! End of days! End of days!

Financial reform...raging commies like Larry Kudlow call it 'terrific free market reform'. And do you really not know how poorly the US was viewed overseas or just how horrible the financial crisis was at the end of 2008? Keep grasping...again if he can manage the deficit, Obama still has a decent chance of being a top quartile president.

Congratulations on completely glossing over everything I said. I don't know why I expected anything more, though, that's par for the course for you.

"Top quartile president." And you accuse me of grasping. Heh.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Rush is a regular Jesus figure, isn't he? Give the man a couple 2x4s.
sort of missed the point by a mile here.
In fact, here's a follow up from Radio Equlaizer:
Though Limbaugh didn't respond to the publication prior to today's Page Six report, he did provide insight on the situation to the Radio Equalizer this morning: "I knew of this last summer, but today is the first day I learned of the Obama response," according to Limbaugh.

"I'd only been told that Axelrod would not return the writer's calls. Everything in Page Six attributed to me is accurate. It's no biggie and certainly no surprise," he added.
(bold added)
Rush is the last person to complain about this kind of attack. It does him nothing but good.

Wait, there was a point to miss?!? :D

OK, I admit I'm not up to speed on golf-gate. I figured that it would be in character for Limbaugh to rush to martyr himself. Maybe that's not how things went this time - I'll concede that, mainly because I can't be bothered to check for myself.

Still - what's the story? Rush is in the entertainment industry. If Roger Ailes wanted to meet with Obama to discuss building a better working relationship and Obama (or staff) told him off, that would be different.

Put it this way, if Sarah Palin is elected in 2012, and her chief of staff responds to Bill Maher's request for personal access by telling him to go scr**, I promise not to get all sanctimonious on you. Deal?
