Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Thank God we have a President who's had a "singular focus" (his words) on the oil spill "since day one."

Well, it's a good thing the adults are in charge now, right Priceless?

I thought conservatives hated govt intervention in business? I guess they don't...or sometimes do depending on the situation...or don't after they do. Frankly I'm not too sure.

They aren't too sure either. It's mostly played by ear.

If Obama comes out swinging on the oil spill, they'd play the Socialist Card and the vein in Anne Coulter's adam's apple would explode from rage.

I thought conservatives hated govt intervention in business?

I thought socialists loathed government's inaction and ineptitude in responding to disasters?

Love your use of the slippery slope here, though. Conservatives prefer less government oversight and intrusion, therefore, they want no government oversight or action.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Economy adds 431,000 jobs in May; unemployment rate falls to 9.7%
I don't know if this is promising news; most all the hiring was by the census for a few weeks' work.

The markets are down today, even with the jobs report.
Companies still aren't hiring: are we heading for a double dip?
I'm a little depressed today. While I do feel lucky to have a job in these times, I'm looking at a 3% pay cut next month.

That almost sounds like: liberals see a role for government in oversight and regulation, therefore they're socialists.

They funny thing is no one cares about the middle class or whether or not their wages or stagnant.

Job numbers matter but the fact that the buying power of the middle class has been steadily declining or that wages have been stagnant in a time of massive corporate profits is not a major concern.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

I like Paul Ryan, but never in a million years will something like that ever get passed.

Maybe
But its a good proposal and its something the Repubs have lacked lately. Ryan hates the party of "no" crap and puts something on the table worth looking at. Scooby should be all over it:D

Actually, according to Scooby, Ryan's proposal doesn't exist.

PARTY OF NO OR DIE!

Looks like some good ideas to me. Glad I was told to look them over. Too bad no one will ever look at them till there's a crisis.

But should the role of government be that of umpire, official scorer, player, or manager???

Me -- umpire to make sure the game is played according to the rules.

Re: Obama XII: The shine is off the glass slipper

Who makes the rules, then?

And what happens if the rules are followed, but the excrement hits the fan, anyway (as was possibly the case with BP?)
