Not particularly... but Maher sees himself as a vanguard against the "stupid"... further he gets to define what is stupid... his whole act is as vanguard against the people he doesn't like. This is why he's feisty all the time.

edit: I find it interesting that nobody is disagreeing with the notion that Maher is an elitist.... or that he's not a libertarian like he used to claim.

Bill Maher's never been a real libertarian. He may have had professional / commercial reasons for describing himself that way -- much like Fox has reasons for describing themselves as fair and balanced.

Of course he's elitist. It plays to his bicoastal liberal audience. I'm not sure how that makes him any different than the average anti-intellectual right-wing personality.

He isn't different, nor does he claim to be. He is an entertainer that talks politics just like all the rest. The difference is the left doesn't pander to him like the right does Rush.

I also don't think he describes himself as a Libertarian anymore for what its worth. It would almost be impossible to be one considering his beliefs on the environment.

I've managed and balanced budgets for the last 25 years...thing is, I don't get the liberty of using BS projections from the CBO and every other made up number I can cook up to manufacture charts designed to fool the ignorant.

I actually have to set real forecasts, produce real results, have it all audited and live with the outcome...accountability is a great thing.

You know, the kind of things politicians are afraid to do, to the necessary level.

It is the same discipline people should apply to their personal budget...which obviously isn't a strong suit for a large percentage of the public.

So, fail? Not me, at least not for the last 25 years.

If you're running a business, what is the hit for Obamacare?? I've heard stuff on the radio that some small businesses will see their HC costs increase by 400K, but if they ditch their plan and send everyone to the public plan, they save 400K.

Any real-life stories would be appreciated.

Only way to balance the Federal Budget now with the Baby Boomers coming up is Major Major cuts to entitlements. Entitlements that the selfish generation will never give up.
