Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Those are great. :p

I doubt the IQ at the OBama rally the other night in Minnesota is any higher.

Actually, given the overall quality of Minnesota's educational system, I'd take that action.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

SteveP, where are you Sparky? So much for those millions of knuckledraggers converging on Washington. :D

Of couse, the real crowd, 60-70K, is the same size that shows up at Redskins games 8 times a year. Does that mean we have to start listening to what Daniel Snyder thinks now?

I don't know -- Snyder might make more sense than HopeyChangey and the rest of the Dems. :p

Clarice Feldman hit the nail on the head at American Thinker:

The Daily Mail said 2 million Americans participated. My friend Charlie Martin extrapolated from the pictures an attendance figure of 2.3 million. Here is a time lapse of the parade portion of the event so you can get a feel for yourself of the size of the crowd. Whatever the actual number it is sure to be seriously underestimated by the Obama-besotted members of the press corps (and some USCHO members) who are also likely to misrepresent the participants and their views.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Are you even a US Citizen yet Steve? Or do you just like to bash this country, you pinko commie dirty Canadian.

I'm not bashing this country, just the liberal idiots that are doing their best to destroy it.

I won't dignify the rest of your witty reposte with a reply.

So you won't say if you're a US citizen or not.

And you don't know how to spell or you're speaking in Spanish. Awesome.

You know, it's really the conservative Canadians who like to come suckle on the teat of America who really grind my gears. Go back to your country or become a citizen. :D Otherwise shut up and stop complaining.

We do anyway. He's a billionaire, and campaign contributions are "protected speech." :D

The outrage being ginned up by the billowing broadcast bullies is genuinely impressive. I wonder what these patriots will do if and when a bill actually gets passed? (Besides stock up on beef jerky and glocks) Imagine if they actually put the same amount of energy into educating their children or getting off rural welfare programs?

Modern conservatism: standing athwart reality and tweeting "I'm not listening!"

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Really? could have fooled me based on what I see on here:D
Stop reading Gopher threads.

Steve- As long as you don't complain when people bash the conservative idiots who want to do the same thing, we're cool.

As I perused the Flickr pics, I wondered how many of those protesters were enrolled in Medicare, receiving financial aid at college, receiving Dept of Agriculture subsidies for crops and/or livestock, receiving unemployment or otherwise feeding off the federal teat. ****ed "socialism".

"It's only socialism when the other guy does it."

Also, you're wrong, all the people in those picture own bootstrap factories.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Having been part of the "tens of thousands" in Washington, I don't believe the 1.6 million figure but given what I saw, the number was at least 200,000.

Here's a time lapse shot from Freedom Plaza (where the rally gathered) looking down Pennsylvania Ave (where the march took place, to the Capitol).

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_sjvc6baor8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_sjvc6baor8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

I put my RPI degree to good use for analysis.

Route as shown in the timelapse - 1.1 miles
Width of Pennsylvania Avenue - 90 feet (8 lanes wide)
Accepted density of people in such a crowd - 2 for every 10 square feet
Time to traverse the route - 22 minutes (at a stroll)
Number of people it takes to FILL the entire route - ~75,000 to 105,000 (depending on density)
Number of times that many people traverse it in the Traffic Cam - 4 or 5 times, minimum.

I could buy anywhere up to half a million, I suppose. When we arrived at the Capitol, I could get no close than about a quarter-mile from the speakers. Saw pictures of the mall being mostly full all the way back to the Washington Monument.

Overall, it was an interesting experience. Cops seemed perplexed that no one was yelling at them or spitting on them. Saw a couple of wackjob Birthers/LaRoucheites but mostly just saw concerned citizens, petitioning their government for a redress of grievances.

"Bury Obamacare With Kennedy"

Classy

Well, you know, someone had to be equal time on the classiness, what with the Libs trotting out Kennedy's dead body repeatedly in order to score political points on healthcare. What's good for the goose...

It was sure entertaining. Watching folks with signs decrying government waste ride DC's Metro, or wait in line at Smithsonian museums to use the bathroom. I actually saw one sign asking to keep the government out of my Medicare. Really.

Anyway, I only ended up down there because I was trying to get to Hamilton's to watch the Badger game. The crowd was universally old and white. I don't think I saw a single face of color in the entire crowd. Likewise, I don't recall seeing many young folks at all - a few children with parents, but that was about it.

I sure hope no one showed these teabaggers some demographic and population projections. It's not looking favorable for the old white folks. Not only that, but I'm still not sure what this was about. I saw signs covering everything from second amendment issues to taxation. There wasn't much coherence in the message except for anger - but it certainly was a well-behaved crowd.

If you wanted a more representative view of the future demographics of America, then you should have gone to either the DC United game that night at RFK (it was Latino Appreciation night) or to Adams Morgan Day on Sunday - a much more diverse range of ages and skin tones.
