Obama V: For Vendetta

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

only 41 percent of conservatives now identify themselves as Republicans.

That looks awfully low, we'd need the comparable number for liberals/Dems for comparison.

If thoughtful conservatives have left the GOP where did they go? Not to "the Fed is a Jewish conspiracy for world domination" Libertarians.

Re: Obama V: For Vendetta

Someone could write a similar one on the Demoncrats. Your party has been hijacked by the looney left. It is NOT the party of Jack Kennedy and Scoop Jackson, just as the current GOP is not the party of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.

Someone could write that, but that wouldn't make it a substantial claim.

There's nothing "loony left" about the current Dems. They're a boring old-style coalition of heartland moderates and coastal liberals. There's exactly one radical liberal in the Senate (Bernie). Contrast that with the legion of radical southern conservatives.

That dog won't hunt.

that dude picked and chose strange data plots...

61% of people think the economy's trouble is BHO's fault!!?!? from his own analysis that is a lot of centrist democrats adding their support :p

another nut with an agenda... no wonder the glob ran him. he probably promised to buy 100 papers;)

if anything they ARE responding to what the country is changing towards as a majority... many are set and no longer have the pioneering spirit that founded the country. we all want the spoils coming to us from our largess and don't want to work for it.

that is certainly smart to listen to what the people want and deliver. ;)

Money without work is the way this country has been for awhile...at least since Reagan's 'me first' society. Conservatives claim that the rest of society wants welfare for free...but they themselves every time they're in power borrow and spend. And when did conservatives put together a concerted effort to protest? April's tax tea party. They weren't protesting the last decade of spending...but rather having to actually pay for it.

The ultimate irony of the neocon in a nutshell. This is the same crowd that tends to view taxation as "the government controlling your life", so take what they say about money with a grain of salt.

The other side of the coin are the ones who hate taxes, and as a result they support privatizing EVERYTHING. As ridiculous as it is to think that its a good idea to have your police protection (for instance) available to the highest bidder, you at least have to give those psychos credit for being consistent.

Anyone who thought that abusing credit was a good idea two years ago was misinformed and short sighted.

Anyone who still thinks its a good idea needs to have their head examined.

I don't care who you or what you are (nation, corporation, small business, private individual), don't spend money that you don't have- or can't earn- and act shocked when it catches up to you. Everyone should know that, especially with the grave consequences we've been seeing since the money lending market hit the self-destruct button in the last few years.

most of these guys are on board with the progressive stuff but its hard to run fully in that direction and stay electable... Reid's got all kinds of problems just like Daschle did. The only reason they have to stay (nominally) towards the middle is an electoral concern and not an ideological tact.

What "conservatives" are we talking about?

For all those who think the Tea Party movement is dead:

ABC estimating 2 million are in DC, but AP and the NY Times don't see that:

On a cloudy and cool September morning, scores of people waved flags and carried signs as they arrived in Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington for a march to the capital. The event was being billed as the culmination of summer protests at town meetings, where opposition to the president's health care plan boiled over.

Scores?? It's no wonder journalists are trusted about as much as used car salesmen!

Joe beat me to the punch. Exactly one radical Dem, what a laughable thing to claim.

Already included in Joe's list but worth naming is Barnie Frank. This guy is a major player in ushering in the recession via the mortgage crisis. (But I must admit, he is my favorite nutjob liberal for championing the reversal of the Unlawful Gaming Act, or whatever it's called.)

Carol Shea-Porter of NH is also a radical liberal. She's on record for saying that she votes along party lines 100% of the time because Democrats are right 100% of the time. (kinda like some of the posters on here who don't like having to think for themselves)

The Democrats have lots of radicals in Congress, along with one in the White House.
