Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

Story claims Charlie Crist could be going independent.

What an idiot.

Seems like a good idea politically to me. Why should his fate be decided by a small handfull of hard right activists when he can mount a challenge and take it directly to the general electorate? Mind you, I don't expect Charlie Crist to vote the way I'd like more than like 10% of the time, so its not like it matters which one gets elected. However, ala Joe Leiberman, with a weak candidate from one major party (the Dems in this case, for Leiberman it was the GOP candidate) the race is essentually between him and the Republican. If he can keep up the fundraising I like his chances.

Like the Republicans in Lieberman's state voting for him I would imagine many Democrats will vote for Crist in Florida just to keep Rubio out.

Hey, maybe you're right. My thinking is though, if Charlie Crist really believes in small government, free markets, all the other GOP talking points et cetera et cetera, and he is fairly beaten by Rubio in a primary, then why would he help to deliver the seat to a Democrat, who presumably would be against many of those things?

Maybe you're right, and Crist could win a general election by plurality, but I see more of a Crist 30% Rubio 30% Democrat 40%.

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

We need a legitimate Independent candidate for President...will never win the next election but might pull enough votes to send a message.

If they get into the debates they will have a great stance..."I'm not in bed with the scoundrels these two guys are in bed with". That might be all they need to say to make a showing.

Campaign Slogan

Red, Blue ... they both screw you

Re: Obama 9 -- Its Been a Whole Year Now

How high would you like them to poll to be invited to the debates? Or should anyone who is running for president be invited?

Good question. Obviously not everyone but it seems so some criteria can be established.

Well, it seems that Americans don't like the current plan and especially don't want to see it passed by reconciliation, so starting over makes sense:

No, it doesn't. Instead they should argue the merits of each part of the bill. Clean sheet of paper at this point is just another delay tactic and they sounded stupid saying it. But, it sure placated the Medicare grandma with the one bedroom house in Mississippi. Stay away from her Medicare, she doesn't want the government running it.

I agree that start over is at least 80% stall, if the current version is a frankenstein bill that would take more time to deconstruct then I guess i could understand the legitimate desire, and expediency, of starting with a clean slate. (amongst reasonable people - of which there are none in the room)

The blues saying "we should proceed with this pig 'cause we've already put so much lipstick on it" is really a different tactic...shove this through so we don't have to go back and confirm what makes sense.

Bass - if the people in Washington really cared about those things we wouldn't be in the mess we are. They care only in as much as they just yell their one-sided position louder each time the other side yells their side. No progress is being made...they just keep puttin' more rosin on the bow.
