Obama 7 - now what?

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

What happens if a hermaphodite marries another hermaphrodite? Is that considered a straight couple, gay couple or lesbian couple? Or is the couple guilty of bigamy because it could be considered three different types of marriage all rolled into one?

Enquiring minds want to know.

Clearly, they'd be homosexual hermaphradites... I guess.

Could they get each other pregnant? That would just blow my mind.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

All the talk of gay marriage some time in the past (and I presume is still going on by the time my post hits), it raises just one question for me.

What happens if a hermaphodite marries another hermaphrodite? Is that considered a straight couple, gay couple or lesbian couple? Or is the couple guilty of bigamy because it could be considered three different types of marriage all rolled into one?

Enquiring minds want to know.

if you get enough together do they form some sort of human buckyball and can you then roll it down the hill?

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

That's a rather strict definition of the word "bigot". Doesn't it mean being grossly intolerant of other people's beliefs, as opposed to simply not agreeing with them?

I would think that calling someone a "bigot" is being grossly intolerant of another person's beliefs.

So, I guess when you call someone a bigot, that makes you a bigot.;)

It does get sketchy. :)

Bigot: One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

It would seem that you can call someone out for being a bigot without being a bigot yourself provided that you acknowledge that the other guy has a right to his bigoted beliefs?

Actually, for the term to have any relevance, differ has to have some stronger meaning than simple disagreement.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

I don't care what religion you are, but keep it the hell out of my government.

I'm consider myself Christian and I agree with you whole heartedly.

The problem with religion in govt is not the religion...but the people behind the religion. IMO many in Christianity end up with the wrong priority. They end up with a conservative evangelical approach. But if you're a Christian and therefore by definition, you should believe the top Biblical message is Jesus. But in the end, more frequently than not the conservative evanelical approach is waay far afield from Jesus teaching. The real problem is not with the teachings in Christianity and frankly most religions...but rather the fact that extremists get attracted to the concept. So in the end, letting Christianity into govt means that we're more likely to end up with extremists where we don't want them. Yes, keep religion out of govt.

Oh I see, only the non-religious can impose their beliefs on others. That's very tolerant.

Presenting God comes from witnessing and living as an example. I am a Christian and will live my life as such, but I don't need to impose these beliefs onto anyone else. In fact I don't believe in any way that God wants us to beyond, "Thou shalt not....", and well we already have such laws in place.

Re: Obama 7 - now what?

The intolerant demand tolerance.

You guys all eat cows right, how about the intolerance that is eating beef. I mean if I should care about Christianity's desire to regulate who can get married, I should get to use my Hinduism to prevent you guys from eating cows.

I mean where does it stop? :D

There are plenty of such demands and proposals being pushed around (things the majority consider silly). This is where we depend on a majority to decide what is "good" policy overall. When you're on the losing side, like being among the significant Muslim population of Detroit or being gay in Maine, you wonder how people can be so stupid. But to the majority of voters, it's pretty clear that (a more extreme example) Neo Nazi-ism is a small and fading minority for good reasons. Right now, the majority of voters would seem to be nominal "christians" to some degree and generally vote as such for their own reasons, leading to laws that reflect their values. That cycle is surely ending... and the system that's ending it surely beats Taliban rule.

Gotta love this letter to the editor in the Mpls. Star Tribune today.

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
Maine wisely declined to affirm homosexuality
Hooray for prolife and traditional family values! I congratulate the voters of Maine -- one of the most liberal states in the Union -- for rejecting the counterfeit and oxymoronic notion "same-sex marriage."

The vote is significant because we are dealing with forced affirmation of homosexuality -- under penalty of law. This is an historic battle for the minds and souls of our children.

Gay marriage has now lost in all 31 states in which the question has been put to a popular vote.

The time has come for a federal amendment banning homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

GERRY JONES, MINNEAPOLIS

It's not enough to ban gay marriage folks. We need to ban homosexuality to save ourselves.

Yeah....good luck with that, Gerry Jones.

Also - what does pro-life have to do with gay marriage? I can't say that I see gay relationships resulting in many abortions...

I wonder how many of those 31 states still have sodomy laws on the books? It would be kind of difficult to affirm same-sex marriage if the two people can't legally have sex wouldn't you think? I certainly can't google sodomy laws while sitting at work...but its an interesting thought...

I thought the Supreme Court had shot any of those laws down a couple of years ago but I could be wrong.
