No, actually I was asking you to support your tax cut statement with a detailed source. If Obama is sending "tax cut" money to people who don't pay income taxes, that's welfare. I didn't say anything about tax increases, although I have no doubt that's coming under Obama.

Not necessarily. People pay plenty of taxes that aren't income taxes. A refund of FICA wouldn't be welfare, for example.

Agreed. People could be paying FICA and getting a refund, and it wouldn't be welfare. Or they may not be paying any taxes and getting a "refund", and it is welfare. If we had the detailed source from Rufus, we might be able to determine if the Obama "tax cuts" are really tax cuts.

I almost hate to do this to a fellow BU alum, but needs to be done. :D So, once and for all, I'm going to prove, using Rasmussen's own polling from the 2008 election, that he's a mouthpiece for the GOP.

My method is simple. I went out to their website, and looked at their last polling of swing states in the days before the election. To be fair, I excluded any polls that were a week old, because that's too much of a time gap. Then, I looked at actual election results in these swing states. The results:

CO: Rasmussen Obama +4, Actual +9
FL: Rasmussen McCain +1, Actual Obama +3
IN: Rasmussen McCain +3, Actual Obama +1
NV Rasmussen Obama +4, Actual +12
NH Rasmussen Obama +7, Actual +9
OH Rasmussen Even, Actual Obama +5
VA Rasmussen Obama +4, Actual +6
PA Rasmussen Obama +6, Actual +11
NC Rasmussen McCain +1, Actual Obama +1

Anybody see a pattern here? How is it that in every swing state he polled near the election, he was consistantly off in FAVOR of McCain, by anywhere from 2 to 8 points. :eek: Yikes. The RNC was less biased. :D Worse, he has FL and IN (and NC) going GOP, which would have netted about 55 electoral votes the other way, plus another 20 in a dead heat (OH).

Look, I hate to do this, and feel free to verify all this yourself, but the guy's partisan hack. You should be thanking me for exposing this. :cool:

Survey Finds Obama Gets a Boost From Democratic Base Supporters and Independents

UTICA, New York--Likely voters are now evenly split on whether they approve or disapprove of President Barack Obama's job performance. This represents a rebound for Obama from a similar Zogby Interactive poll completed two weeks ago.

In this latest interactive survey of 4,742 likely voters conducted from Sept. 10-14, 49.4% approve of Obama's performance, and 49.5% disapprove. Obama made gains among both his Democratic base supporters and Independents, the two groups which were clearly the target of his address to the nation and Congress on healthcare legislation.

The prior Zogby Interactive survey on Obama's job performance conducted from August 28-31 found 42% approval and 48% disapproval. In that poll, likely voters were given two choices, approval or disapproval. In the September poll, the choices were strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove and strongly disapprove. The approval and disapproval responses were combined, and those are used here to compare with the previous poll.

The extremism in New Jersey isn't limited to the right though. 19% of voters in the state, including 32% of Democrats, think that George W. Bush had prior knowledge of 9/11.

I think those toxic waste dumps are seeping into people's brains.

If you hate Fox News for being so biased, you should hate MSNBC for the same reason. Doesn't matter if you are liberal or not.

Both channels are full of yahoos, they are just on opposite sides of the fence.

Not really. It would be very difficult to end an entrenched entitlement program like one of those. There may very well be a lot of politicians, especially on the right, that would like to end those programs but they are realistic enough to know that is highly unlikely at this point. That would be true even with a Rep controlled Congress and Admin. Given that those two programs are going broke, we need to look at other ways to fund them. Making people responsible for their own SS retirements by allowing them to invest in the market was proposed by the last Admin as one idea, but the Dems aren't big on that concept. They prefer to have people dependent upon the government. Of course, if/when SS and Medicare do go broke, they may die a natural death and have to be replaced with something else.

Yes a lot of Socialism has crept into the country the last century, but most people don't want a completely Socialistic US.

You're not even allowed to put that much work into this forum. Plus, you're forgetting the "big mo" that had every poll off by similar amounts just a day or two before the election.
