Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

Re: Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

I'm excited to be at these games! Though hardly any students will be there due to Thanksgiving, it probably won't make much of a difference.

I'm happy for you.:) The Students are going to miss some huge open ice hip checks. Maybe several Denver Fans will appear to witness what they missed.:D

As long as I am in the arena (which I plan on) there will be plenty of noise. The noise ratio is 221 students = 1 CCtig. It use to be 338 but the wife got mad at me so I'm a bit better behaved of late.

However, if UAA comes down here to fight my tigers like they did three seasons ago all heck will break loose. Just sayin.

Re: Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

I predict it will be a good weekend to be a Seawolf.

It sounds like CC students don't support the team. That is a shame, because usually a winner draws a crowd. Our student section was nearly empty last weekend. I'm sort of glad we are on the road this weekend.

I'm not, we win at home, and have not won on the road yet this season. I hope this weekend changes that. Gotta start bringing friends to the games, after a while they have so much fun they are hooked and talking about getting season tickets! Bring a friend or two or three.

Right on! That is the way to do it.

Re: Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

Anchorage, Alaska native and Colorado College freshman William Rapuzzi has really impressed many folks here in Colorado Springs with his early season play (4 goals, 2 assists).

However, he did not play in the CC game last Saturday and we as fans are uncertain of his status, sick, injured, etc....

He has often played on CC's top line, and it would be interesting to see him play against his hometown team this weekend.

My guess is he is not injured, and was held out last Saturday due to sickness or just allowing other CC freshmen to get into the line up. I would think he would play both games this weekend against the Seawolves.

By the way Anchorage, would you be willing to continue to send your players our way, we do like them very much. Since this is "Thanksgiving" I do thank you!!:)

Go tigers!!

Oh you are so welcome. You see, if the Alaskan traitors don't want to be at UAA, then we don't want them either! I hope UAA treats Rapuzzi the same as they did Wrenn and Murray. Murray got lit up for 6 goals and was chased off the ice, and Wrenn had the puck stolen from him and UAA scored, then UAA blew by Wrenn and another DU defenseman and scored. :D  :p

Opps!! I forgot that stuff happens too. Rapuzzi may have a long weekend!!:o

Better yet, maybe he should sit out this series!!:(

Re: Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

The CC students stopped making a difference years ago....
Too true. It's really sad that the student section has become so pathetic, especially because they have had a good team to cheer for and a fun team to watch for many years now. They pretty much sit on their hands the whole game.

You wouldn't be so bitter if that were true. It seems like you all boo every player from Alaska who decides not to stay there even though many of them are arguably better off going somewhere else.

If the local talent that goes "somewhere else" stayed home, UAA would be a big threat in the WCHA (well, maybe not true with Murray, but just sayin').

I know that the coach wants players who want to play in Alaska, and I agree. But I am certainly not going to be a cheerleader for guys who choose WCHA teams over UAA.

I'm not saying you should be a cheerleader for those guys by any means, but I think booing them and wishing them ill the way so many of you do is pretty ridiculous. Every state has players who go elsewhere...that's just how it works. But most of them don't get booed when they go back home.

Whoa there, I never said I wish them ill. I just don't want them to be successful when they are competing against my team. What they do the rest of the year I really could care less.

If you are referring to Walsky, that is a totally different case. He left UAA and wanted to follow Hill to UM. He ultimately chose CC, but when players leave and then bad mouth their former team, they are never gonna get any love from their former fans.

But Anchorage is a city of roughly 260K so it hard for fans not to take it on a personal level implied or otherwise. Next year Scott Wamsganz comes down there...he has the potential to become a upper tier player in the WCHA... Your welcome on behalf of all of Anchorage...

I must admit, did not realize until now just how many good hockey players come from Anchorage, my hat is off to your fine city and some day I shall visit it. Speaking of which, how many hours is a flight from Seattle to Anchorage?

Re: Nov 27th-28th UAA VS CC

Seattle to ANC usually bucking a head wind...3-1/2 hours approx. Anchorage to Seattle with tail wind about 3 hours. CC has been the biggest beneficiary of Anchorage hockey as far as college hockey goes...just my opinion anyway. It's great to see these young men perform at the highest level. Should make people proud.

You guys also booed and ripped on Joey Crabb, Drew O'Connell, and pretty much every other player who doesn't choose UAA to play hockey. So it isn't as if your treatment of Walsky was unique.

We undoubtedly get our fair share of good Alaska players at CC, and I"ve enjoyed watching all of them. They have contributed a great deal to our program. But the fact that so many leave Alaska may not be because they are "traitors" as you always refer to them, it may be because other schools and/or hockey programs are simply more appealing.

You guys? I don't remember booing either of those players, only Walsky. O'Connell rarely got to play in Anchorage. I'm done with this conversation. Have a nice Thanksgiving, you have much to be thankful for with how CC is playing this year. It's nice to see the pundits proven wrong.

It's not a conversation worth stretching anymore, but I do recall many of you ripping on and even booing those guys.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving, Suze. We banter sometimes and we often disagree, but it does not change the fact that I think you are a great fan and you have always been fiercely loyal to your team even through some very tough times. UAA should be thankful for fans like you!
