Norwich Women's Hockey

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

The Norwich Amherst women's game will start at 3 p.m. The men's game vs. the Wentworth/Plymouth State winner will be at 7 p.m.

Great day for Norwich fans to be able to catch two NCAA Quarterfinal games in one day at one rink! Now we've gotta get the butts in the seats. Will be a little tougher with the students going on break Friday.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Does anybody know where I can find the interview of Coach Bolding from this past weekend, I think it was
Sunday on NSN. I can't find it on their website.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

The Norwich Communications Department is putting together a documentary on the 2011-12 Norwich men's and women's hockey teams.

Check out the extended teaser video below. This should be awesome! Especially considering the possibilities of having both teams in the Final Four.

Lastly, next year's East/West Hockey Classic field has been announced and once again its going to arguably be one of if not the best tournament in D-III women's hockey. Plattsburgh takes the place of RIT as the Tigers will be moving up to Division I next year.

Norwich Athletics Release said:
Norwich will tentatively open its 2012-13 season the last weekend in October when it hosts the third annual East/West Hockey Classic. The Cadets will play perennial powerhouse Elmira College and then follow up with fellow Frozen Four participant Plattsburgh State the next day. The Cardinals finished third in the nation after falling to RIT 2-1 in overtime in the national semifinals before coming back to beat Gustavus Adolphus 4-3 in third-place game.

Plattsburgh State will be making its first appearance at the East/West Hockey Classic as it takes the place of RIT after the Tigers announced briefly after winning the national championship they will be elevating their women's hockey program to Division I next season.

Defending ECAC East Tournament runner-up Manhattanville will also be in attendance and will play Plattsburgh State the first night and then follow up with Elmira the next day.

Currently the plan seeing as the NU men's hockey team will not be playing that night and I always love getting to new rinks!

Really excited to see the new Sid Watson just to see how similiar it truly is to Kreitzberg in person.

And my next question to you is do you make it to a few more UVM games this year with Mr. Plumer now calling the shots in Catamount Country ;)

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

I know people find this hard to understand, but my passion has always been DIII women's. I never say never, but having taken in 40 or so games a year for the past decade, I have yet to go to a women's DI game.
If you get Downeast I'll have to buy you a lobster!

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

To get this back on the front page again......Any news on what is coming in for next season. I was at the Beantown Classic a couple weeks ago and heard some rumblings from current players that were there that Coaches were bringing in quite a few new players , including some transfers.......who has the scoop on this? Anyone?

We'll know for sure in a few weeks :)

I can tell you that 2nd place didn't sit too well last year around these parts and remember what happened last time the year after Norwich finished 2nd in the NCAA Tournament...

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

I believe Norwich will be the team to beat this coming season across D3 Womens hockey land. (Too bad RIT is no longer around) I suspect Bolding's cuts this year will be better than at least half the league, which is good and bad, good the team, bad for the individual. Hey, maybe they will have the numbers for a club team.

I also believe that leadership will be key to this years success. Whoever is wearing the C and the A on their jersey will need to absolutely step up.

It's amazing what a national championship does for a program no?

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

hockeydaddy...is that you? I thought you got lost in the green mountains tapping the trees for maple syrup! Don't be a stranger! Nice to see you back on the thread.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Thanks hockeydman. Not much of a sap run last spring... it warmed up in March up in the 70's, the trees thought it was summer, and it was over just like that. Looking forward to the opening weekend tourny, as well as KUA games this winter!

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Will all the names make the final roster?

A few years ago they pretty much kept everyone that tried out, in fact I remember how some posters would joke about how there were more Norwich team members in the stands than fans. Today's budget realities will probably only permit a full team plus a few. I haven't seen the list but there will no doubt be cuts. One tip for the bubble kids... Hard work and "like-ability" is huge.
