Norwich Women's Hockey

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Looking forward to seeing you at Watson Saturday afternoon! Hope the Polar Bears provide more of a competitive challenge to the Cadets than they did in their trip over to Plattsburgh.
GO U BEARS!!!

Really looking forward to the trip and seeing Watson for the first time! Knocking another rink off my list!

Should be a good game. Norwich will need to come to play like they did against Holy Cross to be successful.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Any predictions on the fast approaching showdown between No. 1 Pattsburgh and No. 5 Norwich. Last time at Stafford we saw 15 goals on the score sheet. Is this game going to be broadcast over the web?

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Neither team has played in a month. Last season's 8-7 game was a surprise, to say the least. Going in to that game the Cadets had won 4 games by a collective 38-4 and Plattsburgh had won in a series of tighter contests. All any of that means is I would love to get over to Stafford tomorrow afternoon (but I will settle for Ducky & Co on WIRY)! Should be a good one.

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Great action so far in this game. 2-1 Norwich going into the 3rd. Norwich scored on the PP in the 1st on a Kayla Parsons slapper at 5:46. Tori Charron made it 2-0 at 10:46 of the 2nd, but Shannon Stewart halved the Cadet lead with a PP marker at 19:49 of the 2nd. Should be a great 3rd period!

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Sitting in the stands at Stafford, the third period was a real let down for me.....I watched the first 2 periods and thought Norwich, although not playing great, played well enough to keep the Cards at bay.....but that late goal in the second hurt and then the 3rd was just a total disaster for Norwich....they were totally out played and outshot, they looked lost and unable to answer anything the Cardinals were thowing at them.......the coaches looked busy on the bench, what appeared to be explaining situations and such to the players but if that was the case the players were unable to execute what they were being asked to do. The 3rd period of big games appears to be a problem for the Cadets (Elmira, Platty (2X), St. A's) wonder what is going on in that locker room between the 2nd & 3rd of these types of games?? Did not seem to be a problem in the past and I think they are , on paper anyway, deeper then they have ever been talent wise. But watching them play they seem disjointed and never in unison.......time to get this fixed before it is too late......as Cris Carter would say "C'mon Ladies".

Re: Norwich Women's Hockey

Was at the Amherst game the other night... good to see everyone again.

Having been attending a lot of high school level games recently, I was reminded of the big difference between the H.S. and College level play. Speed and The "lack of urgency". The Refs tend to be inferior too.

I got to see Carrier in the nets for the first time and was absolutely impressed with her quality performance. She
has a great glove, moves smoothly across the crease and can make the big saves under pressure... wow. I just didn't realize Norwich had at least two outstanding goalies. ( I've yet to see Barth)

Playing on Mainiac's cynical reviews, I too am seeing something missing in Norwich's game. Can't put my finger on it but they are not rated #5 for nothing. Mind you most of the D3 league would die for the level of talent Norwich has but when you taste the sweetness of being (finishing) on top, it's hard to accept not being #1.

I will say this... these Norwich ladies are going to need to "figure it out" if they want to make the frozen four this year. And I will add that the coaching staff, for the first time in a few years, will have to work for it too.

God speed to all!
